That's awesome. I've never actually tried autocross in LFS because it seems like it'd be too frustrating. If I had an actual course I'd driven in real life I'd feel obligated, though.

Well.. Someone certainly made a fool of themselves in this thread.

Quote from Rikje :I've been kicked for telling someone he's a lucky bastard cause 2 guys in front of him spun and he went from 3th-1st.
I don't think lucky bastard is considered a swearing word now is it ? :P

That is lucky.. I always get stuck in 3th.

There was a guy on the other night who kept getting kicked without saying anything. Turns out his last name was a curse word in German. Can't remember what it was.

It's showing up in my list.. You're looking for Team Enginuity, not NTCC, right? I'm hosting it for Chris now because I have a dedicated server. Password is ntcc

Chris said he'll be in and out tomorrow because he has some real life things to deal with, and I'm going to help out with running the event.

Just a reminder, the server will be 'Team Enginuity' tomorrow. Its up and running for practice. Half an hour before the event, the password will be set to 'ntcc'. I'll send a message and at this time please make sure you're using your real name and I'll kick anyone that isn't to get rid of people that aren't in the league, if there are any.

Is there any way to store passwords for servers? If not, any chance of adding it in the next release?

Edit: ..or at least a password field on the favorite servers. I just noticed there's one on the full list but not favorites.

Doesn't look like he's responded in quite a while. I actually emailed him a few weeks ago and never got a reply. :\

Can someone post the A final replay? I forgot to save it.

Alright people, I leased a dedicated server from 500servers and will have upcoming the NTCC combo running at all times. Feel free to join and practice. The server name is 'Team Enginuity'

Also, I've spoken with Chris and it looks like the next event will be held here. This should mean better connections and more available spots on the server in the future.

Its no big deal, I save my skins as PSDs so I can change numbers if I need to. Just need a number -- is 78 good? 64? I never actually got a confirmation email, just my name in the list above.

Quote from Dajmin :Isn't that natural progression? The better, higher skilled racers win? Isn't that what happens IRL?

Not for licenses.

That could actually end up working against you twofold, especially on BL with the long straight. I'm going to go ahead and guess the record laptimes are going to be set on a day with a strong tailwind.

I think I thought the same thing as Mike -- you get points for the race results, period, and additional points for your best (or average?) laptime. So here's my suggestion (though now that the system is live it might be a bit late..)

Points are based on finishing position, number of cars and number of laps. Multiplier for being 105%ish within the fastest lap of that race. Additional points for being within 106% of record time, with maybe a max of 10 points.

It also seemed like longer races gave you too many points (or in my case, short races were too few ) I probably got at least 80% of my points on endurance days. Maybe take the square root of number of laps instead of scaling linearly.

I didn't realize how dependent on laptimes the points system was. Does this take in to account the weather? We raced on BL with crazy wind in race 1 the other day, with a top speed on the straight just above 90mph and I couldn't get within 3 seconds of my PB.

Every time Becky mentions the features in X, she also talks about events, which aren't complete yet. I've seen events talked about over and over but never an explanation as to what the event system is. Can someone fill me in?

Quote from Christofire :CTRA isn't. It's ongoing. There's many, many races every day, far more than most RL race series have in a year. If the points won were the same amounts (i.e. 50 for a win, 30 for 2nd, etc) then you'd just get people with inflated scores, and you'd have to win far more to progress. 50pts for a win doesn't mean anything if the next tier is 5 million away.
...
Gaining a licence is supposed to be hard, and it's supposed to mean something when you get it. Racing in RL is hard. LFS is supposed to be a simulator. It's not Gran Turismo or anything else where you get 1000pts for a 1st place.

These aren't season points, going head to head agains't other racers -- they are license points. I'm slow but I raced clean for a few hours the other night and ended up with 8 points. I raced reasonably well and got next to nothing for it. There were 3 or 4 platinum guys on the entire time, virtually eliminating any chance of anyone else getting points. That doesn't make sense.

I say make the license version a list instead of a dropdown menu, so you can ctrl-click and display whatever you want. I went the entire CTRA beta test period without seeing the one server everyone was on in BFS because I assumed when I selected S2, it was going to show S1 like LFS does.

Quote from Shotglass :i did ... with the bf1 having the speedo at ~800 ... no noteworthy effect

Spinning the wheels at a constant velocity isn't going to create any noticable effects. They need to be accelerating.

Forgot to mention the guy that bumped me in the last turn of the last lap of my first decent race last night. He pushed me in to the wall, cost me a spot and damaged my suspension.

When I got straightened out and moving, he was on the front straight waiting for me to pass and get my position back.
