Just a reminder about patch releasing frequencies.

Almost two years ago: http://www.lfsforum.net/showthread.php?p=1143940#post1143940

And today's outlook in enclosure..

No need to say additionally. Maybe we must forget S2 and focus on S3, if there will be. Anyway the devs deserve a big thank for the sake of old good times.

PS: No irony. I've house moving issue and no regular internet access nowadays. Regards.

Quote from nikka :Yes, your improvement suggestion is much better and much more important than other improvement suggestions, so this suggestion must be in the General LFS Discussion section instead of the Improvement Suggestions section.

Thanks for bold typing, this must help me to realize and understand pretty much.

Quote from Silverracer :I personally find that the in-game settings are correctly placed already. All the necessary "keys" related stuff are available in-game. There would be way too much clutter to include everything (or at least most of the key-related commands) in-game.

I see your approach and I thank you Silverracer. Think about tyres and suspensions. Those are given essentials and you can't find attached commands (F9 and F10). LFS is a sim and, a sim itself has complex structure and commands. I suggest you think a flight sim and its commands.

Instead of suggesting, the purpose of this thread is just reminding omitted/ignored point that we already have.
Tidy up LFS control menu

I've opened this thread in General Discussion forum although seems referring Improvement Suggestions, because present control menu in LFS doesn't reveal the control facilities what we got totally. All the keys and mouse control specs are listed in LFS Manual, but we can't see some of them in LFS weirdly. ATM control menu is the alphabet of any single sim or game, so options / controls menu should be updated.

BTW, Happy new year to all the LFS family.

Quote from Stimpy88 :I think the childish back and fourth between you two should really stop now!

Now, my turn...

I wanted to say that I think that the devs have lost respect for their paying customers, and all these people going on about them owing us nothing is utter crap, and is only being said to bait Trolls.

Back in the beginning when LFS first started, the devs did care about us, and it showed. They knew it was a tough proposition to ask us to pay for S1, but LFS was so unique, and so good that many of us said we would be willing to pay, and so we did. Updates came thick and fast, and LFS got better for it. The community grew, and then S2 came by, and we payed again, because we could see the devs vision, as they still shared it back then!

Now we have been a few years since anything meaningful has been done to LFS, and it's starting to suffer for it. It looks dated, and sounds not so great anymore, LFS is in desperate need of some new cars, some new places to race, and maybe some physics updates too, but it's still not beyond repair.

As it stands at the moment, if the devs don't return to the idea of respecting paying customers, and returning LFS and it's community to the way it was, then I think I will not be paying for more updates, which is a real shame.

Here's to better times...

First post after 7 years.. This must be a new record. And I'm afraid of that you will be labeled as "whiner" after those very years.

Quote from Flame CZE :This was the latest post about AI improvements by Scawen:

Thanks Flame CZE. I've missed out that.

Quote from Flame CZE :In my opinion, the AI system will probably not be so good, because LFS is mainly focused on other things.

Quote from Xenix74 :I think the AI System is not ready Programed yet, Scawen has alot of other thinks to do first. But yes, i drive too often with the AI and they make stupid thinks in the Pits and on Overtaking Situations, a little wider AI Line would great, they drive like a pearl necklace in a row.

Both of you are right. On the other hand, Scawen knows there are many single players in LFS community. But Scawen's AI starting point is far from mine. He is focused on AI speed. IMHO, AI speed is sufficient at present. The main problem is AI's faults. They can't race properly and act such a saboteur. As of Patch Y and earlier ones, the AI system against us was more and more stable. I remember that I used to enjoy 50 -60 laps races against AI's. AI drivers are faster now, but any single AI is a "Takuma Sato".

Quote from Scawen :Hello LFS Racers,

As we said in our news item on 21st August, we have been working on a new tyre physics model. It has a good mathematical basis for the forces a tyre produces under varying circumstances and does feel good to drive, so we are very pleased with the new model. The new physics and plans for the VW Scirocco have inspired some other developments that are now important to get the best experience from the updates.

Most of the remaining development is in the following sections :

- Tyre heating and cooling
- AI driver improvements
- Limited setup system
- Suspension updates
- VW stability control

We'll now talk a little about these things, and some of our plans. Please be aware that these are just plans as we see them now. Plans can change, and they often do, so it is very likely that some things you read below will be different from the final result.

AI driver improvements

Just recently we discovered that the AI were driving around too slowly because they were underestimating the available grip. But because available grip depends on tyre load in a non-linear way, it turns out that some of the programming for the AI drivers needs a little reorganising. Many community members like to drive with AI in single player mode, so it is important for them to drive at a good speed.

AI related: Penalties, Pitstop and damaged car behaviours
ADX.14

In overtaking course (training mode) if we touch a car, we couldn't complete the stage. But in a single player race when AI cars cause a collision, they go on without any penalty. Of course there is a huge difference between touching and crashes. AI cars should be penalized such as stop-go or drive through pitlane penalties according to collision results.

In addition to this I've picked up some AI car faults in an SPR file: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=WHBSYIJ8

First of all, AI cars have a linear pitstopping behaviour. All of AI cars go to pitstop on 12th lap. While AI1 repairing at pitbox, AI2 crashes to AI1 straightly as of 14:10. There are no direction change and avoiding crash effort of AI2.

This sweeping fault causes clutch overheating and damaging AI2. Despite the damage, AI2 tries to go on racing and halts on raceline very dangerously (on Lap 13). For race safety, hardly damaged AI cars should be retired and park safely (far from raceline).

Additionally, a weird AI fault occurs after race finish (on Lap 21 - 23:50 and 23:57). AI3 and AI1 don't obey yellow flags and bump into AI2 and AI3 respectively. However AI3 and AI1 was racing properly and avoiding an AI2 crash before the race finish (Lap 15 - Lap 20 period).

Quote from Hank90 :what about K1 attack car

Lovely one, indeed.

Road cars, sports cars, race cars.. Personally, I prefer race cars and spectacular oldskool ones from 60's and 70's in "Victory by Design" series. But this is just a dream. And I've realized that I have no expectations for car suggestions anymore. I'm too old for waiting and it takes too long to implementing for devs.

Proudly bumping the thread...

This feature has been suggested by my cousin. My brother was persuaded by him and has plugged the kit into Volvo V50 1.6D yesterday. Total cost including dyno test is nearly about EUR 150. And after dyno test he confirmed the given results.

http://www.racechip.de/racechi ... lvo-V50-1-6-D-2361-r.html

If you install the kit, the manufacturer declare that your car will be out of guarantee. On the other hand uninstalling the kit is very easy in general. Moreover, there is no trace after unplugging the kit. Consequently this system is more effective and reasonable on diesel motors rather than gasoline ones.

Quote from Breizh :An easier GTR addition would be a Raceabout GTR (mid engined config by itself is enough to make it worthwhile, just as it was for the XRR/FXR whose only difference is drivetrain), though personally I'd take both it and an RBR if the latter could be made different enough from the FXR. Another suggestion that's common enough is to make the RBR a rally model, though again I don't see why you couldn't have both racing versions provided the RBR's not an FXR clone.

edit- the electric raceabout would make a great bodywork basis for an RAC-GTR:
http://www.raceabout.fi/era/
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-C3v3aThfFA

Breizh, ERA herself is an electric car has no gear and not suitable for LFS. I've remembered my old entry about RAC GTR.

Orion's beauty for RAC GTR:

http://www.lfsforum.net/showthread.php?p=897823#post897823

On the other hand, RAC is prototype and project car. Only a few car produced and protected in a museum as I know. These rigid facts causes some limitations. Maybe one day all the permissions will be taken, and I wish Orion's RAC GTR comes true.

Back to the tyre topic. Here you are some extreme examples (F1 snow mod ) for tyre physics.

McLaren and BMW Sauber cars have Traction Control (TC). Red Bull without TC is also controllable one in limits. I can't imagine Red Bull case in LFS. So, I hope new tyre physics won't be harder than these ones.

Guys, thank you all for replies. The number of racers' nationality is not the criteria, but it is an indicator. i.e: The number of Finnish LFS racers approves the Finnish motorsport passion.

LFS Racers Search / Country option gives us the data below..

Finland: 124779

USA: 36789
Germany: 31299
UK: 25260
France: 15383
Italy: 7684

The total numbers might include demo accounts. But, under any circumstance Italy's rank on LFS is not sufficient ATM. Maybe nK Pro case is the only answer.
Ain't LFS attractive enough to Italians?
ADX.14
S2 licensed
I've been thinking for a while, why LFS is not so popular amongst Italians? I really want to understand this perspective. As you know; Germany, UK, USA, France, and Italy (in accordance with LFS racers' nationality share) are the mainstream countries those all have automotive industries in international basis and racing histories or/and cultures.

However Italy's share on LFS is too low. Check out LFSW stats in attachment. 1.8% doesn't reflect the real potential of Italy.

Your thoughts please...

Quote from Scawen :- The suspension updates I hope won't be too difficult, though that is an area where one thing could lead to another, so I don't really know. I think it will be a case of "where to draw the line". It's doesn't need to be the final update to suspension systems but if I could get a bit of anti-dive and anti-squat working then it would help with the default car setups which are more softly sprung now.

Perhaps these links might be helpful for the suspension updates.
