Thanks, that's fixed.

We did find a few problems - probably the main culprit was a long running process that may have had a tiny memory leak, causing a problem after a long period of time.

Let's see how it goes now.

Quote from detail :I can't test right now, because of issues with Nvidia Linux driver. KZ is mostly connected to Russia, which is connected to Netherlands, Finland and Sweden. So I bet directing it to Japan will make things worse here.

If you have a set of addresses to test, I can sketch a simple Python script to ping/download things and show statistics.

103.194.164.52 - JP
162.244.55.54 - US

Ping won't work, but you can perform an MTR towards them.

Quote from r3zp3k7 :When trying to upload the mod file for review (ID - 7DC304), I'm getting a HTTP ERROR 500. Could you check? Thanks in advance.

Quick tip I got: This mod name is 27 characters, but LFS limits names to 25 characters. Can you confirm this?

Can you try again please?

I don't think this bug was related to the (length of the) name though. The name was not a variable related to this particular problem.

Quote from NumberTwo :Are usa and sa servers affected too?
Are older versions affected too?

Quote from NumberTwo :Could you share if you know answers to my questions?

1. Would moving server to usa help?
2. Would using 0.6 version of lfs help?

It looks like there are intermittent ddos attacks towards one particular gaming host. It appears to be the only attack vector atm, so to answer your questions:

The USA and other regions are not affected atm. Moving the game server to another host / region will help avoid the attacks.
And, even though in your host control panel you can only move the host between regions, it is possible to get your host migrated to another server in EU, but that'll have to be done manually currently, by an admin. So if desired, you can contact us with the request to migrate an EU game server to another host. I've done this now for your game server, because I think you'll want that Smile

The version of LFS does not matter - it's the location of the dedi.

And how about now?

Quote from versiu :I tried to download my own mod via "download" button because I lost files of it and this error appeared
By donwload my own mod I meant the LFS Editor files.

Can you try again please?

Very strange.

Can you try once more? I've added some debugging to maybe get an idea of why this is happening.

Hi, I've added a license check to the on-site signups now. The required license as indicated for the league itself is checked upon signup.

Hi, this issue is now fixed. People who have signed up [via lfs.net for a league with a host that requires a password] will now have a working Join button in LFS.

We aren't actively banning IP addresses, so I don't think that's the problem. Your DNS server also returns the correct IP so that's not the problem either.

Can you download and install https://sourceforge.net/projects/winmtr/ and perform an MTR towards lfs.cdn.i3d.net ? Maybe that shows where the traffic towards the CDN is blocked.

Finally, can you try this url? It should download the new 0.7C setup file from a dutch CDN node.

Quote from johneysvk :Since car setups for mods can be uploaded, it would be cool if they showed up on the vehicle mod page

That's added. E.g. https://www.lfs.net/files/vehmods/F3430A?setups

I see a fair amount of mod setups in the database, but unfortunately a lot of them are private, so you won't see many mod setups, unless ofc you have access to the private ones. But with this addition that might convince some people to upload as / change them to public.

Already made, but not yet linked to from the web pages.
It's a minimal page atm and I want to spruce it up a little. But it will be linked to from inside LFS when the test patch is out (very soon).

Stream links, if there are any, are also shown on the season overview page btw.

EDIT - I'm currently just focussing on making the new LFS Events feature functional. Up next is improving the web site pages. Still a fair bit to do to make those better.

Twitch / YouTube live stream urls can now be added to each round.
Victor
Developer
Ok thanks, I'll begin with adding the optional stream urls to the round edit page then, so we can link to it from inside LFS as well.
Victor
Developer
Is that the same case for the live streams?

You bring up an interesting point though - do you want to store the video streams after the event, for each round as well?
Victor
Developer
Ah thanks. Will deploy fix soon.

Question for the streamers:

I'd like to add options to store stream URLs to seasons / rounds. But I was wondering if the stream URL is always the same, in which case I can add it to a season. But if it changes per round (event) it should be stored with each round individually.

I think the Twitch streams are usually the same URL, but I'm not sure how it works with YouTube and others? Are those different urls for each stream?

Quote from michal 1279 :The ability to export the on-site signup data in desired format (as well as utilising other functions like attendance confirmations for example) would definitely make it a viable (and possibly desired) option.

I can easily add export functionality if that will help with people using the on-site signup feature. Also I can make the player detail fields dynamic, so you can ask your racer any details to fill in during sign up. E.g. racer / car number, team name, etc.

I've been wondering why ppl prefer to use the forums for sign ups and wonder if any other event organisers see this as an obstacle as well?

Quote from Scawen :I still have on the my list the live broadcast link. Not sure how to display it yet.

I wonder if the "Organiser" field provides relevant information to the user? We don't have it stored atm (though we could), with limited space on the page, we can be critical about what we show. Maybe a live-stream link has more value than an Organiser field?

---

I wanted to add a few thoughts about the Leagues section on this website.

The calendar
It's very textual and can be improved. Scawen and I had a chat today and concluded it should look more like Mandula's new posts.
  • use the Round logo (to be implemented), or if not available, use the Season logo, or otherwise the League logo
  • only state the start time of the first event of the round. So we wouldn't show all the events inside the round like we do now.
  • clicking on the event in the calendar will open the details page of the round
  • the round details page is a new one and will display all the details for the round
Using the league feature as an organiser
We were wondering if this is too complex? Many people do use the season and rounds feature so I think that's understood.

Though it might be a bit of work to fill it all in, when this was created there was a need for many options because of different league setups and requirements.

But the sign up isn't used at all I think. So with regards to the question asked earlier, is this too complicated to setup and / or use?

Browsing the leagues
We realise the league pages consist like 99% of text. It's not very pretty and maybe the UI isn't the best either. I wonder what you think of this? And because I'm not very good at design, if there are suggestions, they are very welcome Smile

Planned changes
The league logo's dimensions are very free form atm. We are going to enforce 1920 * 1080 so we can display them more uniformly and predictable. Also as you can see in Scawen's preview screenshots, they look nicer if they're all the same size. So if you run a league and have a logo, you could already prepare it to match the required dimension.

The calendar will be changed to be more graphical. And Monday will be the start of the week Smile

A new round details page will be created

There will be the option to upload a logo for each round, in case ppl want to give each round a different identity / appearance.

Round events currently only have a "type" (practise / qualify / race). I'll add a "event name" as well, so you can better specify what each round is. Some leagues for example have Heat 1, Heat 2, etc which is more informative of a name.

We may do away with the car selection for events and replace that with a free-form text field where you can enter anything you want (to mention what cars will be used). The same for tracks, so you can e.g. indicate a layout name, if used.
Victor

Actually that error points to the name you gave the mod inside the Vehicle editor. There you have to export it with the name "FZR-R".

Ah thanks, I'm displaying the favourite star next to the name now.

EDIT - and added a Favourites display filter.
