Robby Gordon gets engines from Penske I think though, pretty sure he'd make the switch too.

News came out today that Penske is running Fords in 2013, are there any Dodge teams even left? Probably knew that new Charger was going to have terrible aerodynamics haha. Too bad though, I don't see Dodge being in the sport too much longer.

Yeah, I really mean blatantly cheat instead of the small stuff they do now.

If they didn't get penalties for stuff even if it didn't hit the track, then teams would cheat every single week just to see who could get through tech inspection. There would be no reason to not cheat every week if there were no consequences. It would be a weekly news story, see who actually made it through tech this week without getting caught with something.

Forecast is showing the possible rain might hit around 7 now. Crap.

Sounds like the sun is out down there, track is drying. There's still a chance of rain between 4 and 7 though, can't wait for this race tonight, this is going to be intense. Wonder if this might work out well for NASCAR? They're getting a prime time TV spot now.

Supposed to be clear tonight, we'll see what ends up happening though.

Quote from atledreier :Any good weathersites for the track today? Looking like the weather clears around noon, that means a 3pm race. I'm not gonna rush to the track today....

I don't think its going to be clear until 2 or 3 probably.

Are they going to try and race tonight or wait until tomorrow? I think a Daytona 500 night race could be awesome, you might just get lucky that it rained yesterday.

Kurt Busch's scheme was very similar to Tony Stewart's for the Shootout, it was pissing me off.

Going to try to stream the first one here at work, have bowling at 4 though. I don't get too excited for the Duels though, with the top 35 and all the point-buying that goes on, most of the big names are locked in anyway.

Quote from BlueFlame :You'll see other NASCAR drivers doing it after this. People go on like Kyle Busch is a wunderkind or something but his skills are no less limited than any other driver out there.

Why do you even bother posting in this thread when its pretty obvious that you hate NASCAR based on every single one of your posts having to say something negative about it? I don't get it.

New Dodge looks pretty good, I want to see more of the front end but based on the street cars, I had a feeling they would have the best looking 2013 Cup car.

Quote from Gougoodthing :I have never seen as much in a race as tonight.. :/

You're right, there were way more sparks last night than I've ever seen before. I think its the lower rear end, you can see them shooting out of the back of the car when Kyle Busch got sideways.

After last night I'm even more excited for the 500 next week, that's the kind of plate racing I missed.

Daytona is still a fun experience though. I've been to 7 different tracks now and even though Daytona didn't have the best racing, it was really cool to go to. Wish I was going down there again next weekend.

Just saw your other thread about going to the race atledreier, not sure how I missed it when it first got posted. Like others said, definitely get there early. When I went last year, we parked in the infield so parking wasn't bad, but we waiting until pretty close to race time to walk to our seats and the amount of people flooding into the place was out of control, definitely plan ahead for that kind of thing.

Have fun and let us know how it was when you get back.

Edit: I just looked and we were in row 20 last year. You being in row 36 should be a pretty good view of most of the track, but you're not so high up that you don't still feel the cars going by. Those are really good seats. Also, make sure you go down and stand right on the fence(or as close as they'll let you) for one of the restarts, just make sure you cover your ears because its going to be really loud.

That's good news for you guys, did you not get all the races on TV before? Just wondering, not sure what the broadcast schedule was like up there in years past.

Quote from PMD9409 :This better still be happening. I can't find any information though on the Sebring website or the SCC website.

Better not cost a fortune, or I want to ride onboard/drive.

Event schedule:

http://www.cfrscca.org/wordpre ... Regional-Sebring-2012.pdf

Some details I found on some Corvette forum:

Quote :The Camaro Cup will makes it debut in the United States Feb 11-12 at Sebring and the following weekend at Palm Beach (Feb 18-19).

The Sebring event will be with the Central Florida Region SCCA, which will also be a Crane Cams V8 StockCar points weekend. In addition there will be a full field of SCCA classes including vintage.
Looking for FL Corvette clubs to come out to Sebring for the races.

This is an SCCA spectator event and I understand the charge is only 5 bucks for non SCCA members.

The Camaro Cup is a televised pro series in Europe and counts Jan Magnusson and Nic Jonnson among series drivers.

The cars are tube framed chassis constructed by Howe Racing in Michigan with the Howe Camaro Euro body. Similar to the TA2 body, save for they don't have the wide flares. The cars are powered by modified versions of the Chevy ZZ4 crate motor and make around 450 horsepower. With only about 2500 pounds to push around, they are quite quick.

The second weekend at PBIR will be run with HSR (Historic Sportscar Racing) and will also be a points for Crane Cams V8SC.

There are practice days for both events on friday before the weekend.

Haha, forgot all about that at Bristol. Darlington is going to be hilarious though, why would you enter your second ever Cup race at a place like that? This will be the only time all year I hope they actually do keep the camera on her the whole time.
