Quote from Cornys : Brad had a right to say what he did in the media center.

I'm VERY happy to see Mid-ohio appear on the Nationwide Schedule. I'll 99% be there. I've always wanted to go there for the Grand-Am Series and now that there's a Nationwide race somebody might actually go with me

Homestead and US GP back to back before this next racing season even starts.

Now, about Eldora.. Let's hope that's better than expected.

The Nationwide and Grand Am races aren't the same weekend though are they? If they were I might think about going, chances are pretty low though with everything else going on over the summer though. I think Nationwide will be good on that track though, I'm looking forward to it for sure.(Edit: They're not the same weekend, what genius made that decision?)

I don't see how Eldora will be anything other than a mess but we'll have to hope for the best.

No, like I said he has done it since then.

Quote from DieKolkrabe :In fairness, I went and looked it up and after Daytona they changed the rules and used wording about traction control

He has used his phone in the car since Daytona though, don't remember where it was but there was a rain delay and he tweeted a picture from in his car during the red flag. They could have told him long ago he couldn't have a phone in his car if it was really an issue.

They can't lump the media center stuff under "actions detrimental to stock car racing"? I thought they could basically use that rule for anything.

First F1 race at Texas and Homestead on the same day is going to make for a great day of racing on Sunday.

They knew Brad had the phone in the car all year, pretty stupid they wait until the second last race to fine him for it. If they didn't like what he said in the media center, then fine him for that, not the phone.

Does SHR at least build their own cars yet? I know they definitely have Hendrick engines. I hate that I'm basically rooting for Hendrick cars by being a Stewart fan.

Quote from Mustangman759 :Imo, RCR needs to not renew menard and burton also. Those two are awful this year, stick someone else in them. We already know he will have austin, and probably his brother also, sonhe just needs to find that one driver who can take that place, maybe trevor bayne?

I don't see Trevor Bayne getting an RCR ride, what has he done to show he can run competitively in Cup races? He can't ride that Daytona 500 win forever, and I don't think he's even shown that much in Nationwide that he'd get a ride with a top tier team.

Burton has been bad the past two years though. I don't think he'll be around at RCR for much longer either unfortunately. Menard stays because he's got money to back him up.

I skipped the "also, unrelated" line and thought that was the big news haha. Wow, Harvick to Stewart-Haas, that is huge. Danica is so out of place on that team, wish they didn't need her just for the money. Stewart, Newman, Harvick is a pretty solid lineup. I'm sure Harvick saw the writing on the wall knowing Austin Dillon is going to be in a Cup car most likely in 2014.

Those cars look like they handle like absolute crap.

I don't know anything about that track but on first impression it just looks way too small. It would be mayhem out there with 40 cars.

Quote from Cornys :Regan Smith to the #5 Nationwi ... r JR Motorsports for 2013

I can't wait for this, hope he has some decent equipment and can challenge for the title. I hope we continue to see guys who have skill but can't get top rides in Cup move down to Nationwide instead, will make Nationwide races that much better.

Danica taking herself out and then over correcting right into the wall made my day.

Quote from Cornys :One thing that I did notice was that both of those race tracks were a mile in length and flat. Eldora is neither, so maybe it would be at least a little more like dirt racing, but maybe it wouldn't. The speeds for those ARCA cars were hideous though. I'd be courious to know what late models look like on those flat one mile tracks.. I doubt they slide a whole lot (of course alot more though)

Here's what the big block modifieds we have up here look like on a track like that.

Still can't get over the fact that they race on real dirt tracks all year and then go to a crappy track like that for their biggest and final race. I go to a bunch of their races during the season but I refuse to go to Syracuse.

Sprint cars used to go there too before they deemed it too dangerous.

Quote from PMD9409 :http://www.eldoraspeedway.com/2012/10/18/aggressive-expansion-theme-sets-tone-for-eldoras-60th-season/

No Prelude to the Dream is too bad, but I didn't even order it last year. It was kind of getting old for me so I don't mind another year off. I actually wish they'd go to a different track every year, would be more exciting.

My point was more that these cars are built to run on asphalt, so that's where they should race. Making Eldora super hard and dry so the trucks can race there isn't a dirt race, so to me there is no point. Let the asphalt cars run on asphalt and let dirt cars run on dirt.

It's not like these are little street stocks that could pretty much run on any track they want to. These are fairly specialized race cars that are built to run on pavement. Just because they could pull off a race on "dirt" doesn't mean they should.

I understand why other people would probably love this idea, just doesn't do it for me though. It would be like the NHL's winter classic, at first it was cool to see a game in a football stadium outdoors, but now they do it every year and its getting terribly played out. "Nascar on dirt" would turn in to the same thing, a gimmick for ratings.

Quote :Edit: I see your point. There is no point if it would race like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d31XhVm25E0

That's pretty much what I was basing my opinion on. The quality of racing isn't that great so I'd say its actually worse than just a normal asphalt track, and its not really dirt racing either. I've also seen actual dirt cars race on a hard packed mile long track like that, the racing sucks.

Hah, yes my opinion has not changed.

Quote from PMD9409 :They would just make it hard packed like when ARCA races at Duquoin each year.

Which, to me, is stupid. They can't find any other ashpalt short track for them to go race at? I have zero desire to see the trucks go to a "dirt" track. It's a gimmick and I don't like it.

Thankfully 25 cars are over 50% of the field and the race was able to end Sunday.

I was just watching that yesterday, one of his finest interviews for sure.

Seeing reports Dale Jr is out the next two races with a concussion, Regan Smith filling in for him in the 88. If this is true, huge opportunity for Regan to show what he can do in a top level car.

That sucks, he was the closest I had to a home town driver. Hope he gets a ride somewhere.

Not bad, I thought it was going to be an actual season review up to this point though, not just a bunch of random videos thrown together with no sort of order.
