I've always had a thing for conversion vans, someday I might pick one up.

The Red Bull Nascar team did one of those promo pit stops too, it almost seems like they didn't close the streets for it at all either.

This happened like a mile from my house, ran over there at lunch time and I was standing right behind those cop cars to the right side. Sucks it was so short because he blew a tire.

Quote from DeadWolfBones :Well, the V8s in Austin was a really good show, but they definitely need to bring a softer tie next time. And planting some shade trees would be a good investment.

I hear they're looking to add a second American round. Can I suggest Laguna?

Bring them to the Glen.

Also didn't help that he spun the crap out of his tires

Quote from Mustangman759 :Your right, but I think he had a good enough car to do 2.

Even with 2 he would have started behind cars with no tires and Harvick would have gotten him. He needed a perfect restart and it just didn't happen.

Which doesn't make sense to me as the Glen has a whole less series to fit in this year since Grand Am isn't racing there in August. There is no reason to speed it up.

I don't see anything unfair about single lap qualifying, everyone gets the same shot at the pole.

It mostly annoys me because all I see is the track saying how "great" and "exciting" for the fans this is. This is only exciting for the fans that need instant gratification and want to spend as little time at the track as possible. You want to make qualifying more exciting? Fix it somewhere like Daytona or Talladega first, where it is the most boring thing imaginable.

Quote from Cornys :I'm a little excited to be able to bring this news to you guys. I really like this change

http://www.nascar.com/en_us/ne ... se-qualifying-format.html

Group qualifying to come to the Sprint Cup Series at the road courses

Same as in the lower series'. No more one lap crap

I liked the single car one lap qualifying at Watkins Glen, it was arguably most exciting session of the weekend. One lap, don't screw up. I don't understand how the groups make anything more exciting, if anything it will lead to more boredom as its just a group of cars turning laps(just like practice) and you can't pay attention to everyone all at once. With the old format you could watch the whole lap and know if they did well or not before they even hit the finish line. The "saving time" argument doesn't make sense to me either. They already don't have Grand Am coming that weekend at the Glen, if anything you should have more time you need to fill. Oh well. I hate this decision.

Quote from Gougoodthing :A fan died of self-inflicted injuries during yesterday's race.

I'm still surprised this didn't become a bigger story. I feel like I heard more about that congressman telling FOX not to air the race than the fact that a guy shot himself in the infield during the NRA 500.

Quote from Mustangman759 :Probably so the teams can put fuel in deh tanks? Would have loved to have seen a actual race tho... With pitstops etc

Then give them bigger fuel tanks. Pretty sure dirt cars can run 125-150 laps without pitting for fuel. Shouldn't have a race requiring pit stops at a track without pit road in the first place.

If you can't tell, I'm more and more skeptical of this race.

Segment thing is stupid, don't understand why they needed that. Makes it feel more like an exhibition race than an actual points race.

Quote from Cornys :With that said, I have been really disappointed with FOX's coverage this year. Commercials at ALL of the wrong times.

Agree, yesterday when Kahne and someone, Kenseth maybe, were racing for the lead they went to commercial. We said, well here comes the lead change. And what do you know during that break there are two lead changes and Kahne gets ridiculously loose and saves it. Then later are yellow flag pit stops, commercials come on and they do the side-by-side thing. Why the hell didn't you do that when there was a race for the lead going on? So stupid.

Quote from Rappa Z :Bit off the usual talk, but still NASCAR related...

Anyone here seen a race at Pocono? Tickets for the June 2nd race are only $25 (pretty much bottom of the grandstand) and I was wondering what kind of experience that would get me.

I agree with Cornys, get the cheap seats and sit down low early on. You won't be able to see much but by the end of the race just go up top so you can see all the action. The couple of times I sat in the grandstands there I had no problem moving around as much as I wanted.

I'm pretty sure Larson directly hit a photographer gate, can't believe I didn't hear a single media person mention that yet. They're fairly unsafe seeing as they aren't reinforced like rest of the fence but I don't think anyone ever expected a car to go through one.

There was no need for that caution, all of those trucks could have gotten off the racing surface by the time the leaders came back around for the checkered flag. At the very least wait and see if there are trucks stuck on the track before you throw it. Oh well.

Quote from Cornys :Watching the Modified race? I am. I missed the race last night, but the move on the last lap was pretty dirty. Crossed a line for me, because he turned into him again on corner exit. That's what turned me off. Otherwise a great race

I like the new marketing direction that NASCAR is taking . Look at this new commercial for airing in the Daytona 500

http://www.nascar.com/en_us/ne ... brand-campaign-twist.html

Also, how about this? Another Woman in NASCAR, but not in the driver's seat

http://sports.yahoo.com/news/n ... ave-before-170207111.html

The twist commercial is probably one of the best I've ever seen for Nascar.

Too bad their new website is absolutely terrible and I can't even play it there. Youtube mirror for those with the same problem as me:
