Interesting, I never new this:

"Piquet started kart racing at the age of 14, but because his father did not approve of his racing career, he used his mother's maiden name Piquet (of French origin and pronounced as "Pee-Kè") misspelt as Piket to hide his identity."

Just a lame sponsorship announcement, with the way they were hyping it up I was hoping for more. Cheez-It 355 at the Glen has a nice ring to it...or not.

They have one in NYC, Syracuse, and Rochester all in NY. Think maybe there might be a new one NJ too? And I've heard they're building a new one in Buffalo soon. They've been expanding more recently.

I've always thought it was overrated, its OK food but the wait for the one here is like 2 hours on weekends and they don't take reservations, no thanks. Their sauces are good though. If they are trying to start to go more national, sponsoring a Cup race would be the way to do it.

Edit: Been waiting all day for WGI to post their "hint" on Twitter. Finally realized its been up there all afternoon:

Safe to say the announcement will involve the race sponsor.

I don't think it said Nascar specific, my guess would be its about a Cup race sponsor. They're having the press conference at Dinosaur BBQ in Syracuse which has been a vendor there the past couple years and has restaurants in a couple places up here, I'm wondering if they might be the sponsor.

Watkins Glen is making some kind of announcement tomorrow, could just be a sponsor thing but I'm hoping they're running the full track this year. Said there will be a hint this afternoon.

They're saying that Chevy and Toyota's bumpers still line up, Ford doesn't work quite as well with the others.

Holy crap, what the hell is that thing on Ambrose' face? That is Ambrose in the Dewalt fire suit right?

I assumed by saying that the new system is better for the environment, they were trying to eliminate the jet dryers all together. Possible that the two work together though, best of both worlds.

I applaud the speeding up of track drying, but I will really miss the jet dryers. There's just something about strapping a jet engine to the back of a pickup truck that screams "Nascar". Wonder how long it will take to get them at every track.

That's what I'm hearing

Perfect.

I love that picture, all 5 lights on, a split second before people have their minds blown.

I know they aren't going anywhere. Just don't get why modifieds and other short track cars have been using Lexan spoilers forever yet the top Nascar series still have those ugly sheet metal shark fins. Could easily make them clear and they wouldn't be as much of an eyesore.

Quote from Hyperactive :Renders always look better than the real deal

Other way around for me, I always find the real deal out on track looks better.

Are clear shark fins coming next year or not? Seems some cars have them and some don't, and I don't think I've seen any official announcements about it.

New paints look pretty sick so far on the new bodies.

Most look pretty good, Brad's new paint job is pretty ugly though. White wheels and that big white stripe don't do it for me.

Looks way better than the street version at least. The actual car is so bland looking.

Quote from PMD9409 :Race format is still to be determined, could be heat races. Other drivers from different series are even interested in it, from dirt trackers to Tony Kanaan.

This is the kind of stuff I don't like about this race. This isn't some exhibition or charity race, this is a series race. Just don't want to see it turn into some joke when there are guys competing for a championship.

Quote from Scrabby :I'm going to Daytona in February for 12 days orso.
Going to watch some Pickup trucks, ARCA, Nationwide, World of Outlaws etc...

Good deal. World of Outlaws at Volusia I assume? Find the guy selling pork chop sandwiches in the concession area...they're amazing.

I also agree with Cornys, sit as high up as you can afford even if its not in the middle of the track. We sat by the entrance to the pits a couple years ago but we weren't high enough to see them all the way around the track, we kind of expected that but higher is definitely better.

He was also sponsored by a beer company, don't you think they wanted him enjoying their product after the race? Sure he was a little drunk, but its not like he was falling over blackout drunk, that would have been too far but he wasn't even close to that.

Quote from DieKolkrabe :eBay? I'm sure I've seen a few there or Amazon. Just make sure it works first and keep it for yourself!

Most of what I've found online are just pint glasses, the one Brad had looked much bigger.

I need to find one of those huge Miller Lite glasses for sale, as a Brad K fan I'm sure my brother would love one for Christmas haha.

So glad Brad won the championship, and his drunk interview on Sportscenter was awesome:
