Might as well pick a name out of a hat, you never know at Daytona. Junior has been running decent this season though.

Kahne to the #5 is a definite thing.

I don't see Mark Martin going to SHR. I saw rumors that him and some other dude could buy the former Red Bull team and run that. I could see him doing that and running a partial schedule in one of two cars for that team.

I would rather see Vickers go to SHR, not sure it would happen though, Tony seems like he needs a big sponsor to run a third car and I'm afraid that will only happen if he signs Danica to run Cup down the road. I don't really see Vickers ending up with JGR for whatever reason.

For Rousch, I agree they'll all stay there. Edwards' contract is up after this year but he's got a good thing going being able to run Nationwide whenever he wants along with Cup, I don't see him going anywhere.

Who else has a contract up? Jayski or someone needs a list of when everyone's contracts are expiring.

I wonder if more guys would do what Elliot Sadler did and go back to running Nationwide full time if they can't find a decent Cup ride. I really have no problem with that, I just don't like guys running both at the same time.

Sounds like Red Bull is gone as a sponsor next year. Now if we could just get rid of Toyota as a whole...

I forgot all about the fantasy thing for a couple weeks there. Looks like I'm off to a decent start for segment 2 though, 2nd place overall.

I did hear them mention during practice today how much grip the track has lost actually, I always thought that as a good thing though. They weren't talking about the repaving when they said this, just about the track in general. Oh well, now I'm even more glad we made that random trip out to Michigan last year before it got paved.

I don't understand why its getting repaved, I realize once tracks start falling apart its time to repave but what's wrong with Michigan right now? Sure its slippery but the race is always pretty good there. I just hope they leave the banking and everything how it is now, sure it will be "ruined" for a couple years when they repave but please don't ruin it forever by screwing with the banking.

Quote from samjh :How much did it cost to go?

One of the problems with F1 races is the cost of the tickets, rather than proximity.

No cost, it was completely free. I know F1 tickets are expensive but I still think they'd sell the place out easily.

Since I only live an hour and a half from the Glen I got to go to this, they only did a few laps each but it was pretty awesome. I have never heard an F1 car in person so that was the main reason for going. They should really bring F1 back here, a reported 10,000 people showed up in the rain just for 2 cars doing demo laps yesterday, it would be a huge success if they had an actual race there.

Every year they talk about how Eldora is supposed to be such a great track, and almost every year they put on a relatively boring race there. I was saying to my brother last night how its amazing how much better racing dirt tracks put on around here. The fact that most of those guys aren't regular dirt racers could contribute to that also though I guess.

Did you catch the race at all? It was pretty boring, track was super dry and everyone ran the high line all night, very little passing, a lot of guys bouncing off the wall though.

Going back to Vancouver all tied up. This is turning into a pretty good series, I love how much these teams seem to hate each other.

Prelude to the Dream is tonight, I will be ordering it on PPV but I would guess someone might have a justin.tv stream of it up for those who don't have access to HBO. Anyone who hasn't watched this race before should try to check it out, its a pretty cool race seeing a bunch of Cup guys and drivers from other series on dirt.

Screw the west coast, if they come to the east coast I'd make a serious effort to go see them. If they came to Watkins Glen there would be no question, I'm there.

You'd think they'd get at least one German guy to drive it though.

Quote from bunder9999 :apparently we're supposed to find out today if winnipeg gets a team again...

and on the AHL front, newfoundland is still trying to figure out if they're going to "subsidize" the manitoba moose. haven't heard anything about vancouver's AHL replacement.

i guess i'll be watching the news all day.

As far as the AHL news I know of, my home town team Rochester sounds like they're reuniting with Buffalo, so that would leave the NHL Panthers without a farm team and the AHL Portland Pirates without a parent.

Quote from EliteAti :Atlanta already lost their NHL team once and cant do anything with the Trashers (except lose their star players), Winnipeg is a much better choice for a team since it its a great hockey market, they need to get the Jets back. Oh and Bettman sucks.

Would be better if Pheonix went back there since technically that's Winnepeg's old franchise, Bettman seems dead set on not letting the Coyotes die though.

Carl almost flipping his car in the grass was probably the most entertaining moment all night. I don't like how they make them take 4 tires on the last stop, people gambling on two tires is what makes the race interesting half the time then for the last caution they don't let them try any strategy.

From what I read Kimi was really loose in practice, this might be good for him come race time when the track cools down and it tightens up a little bit. Didn't realize he wasn't locked into the race, sure hope he actually qualifies, from the practice speeds it looks like he's pretty safe though.

I guess there is a practice stream up: http://www.justin.tv/freddy49_fut#/w/1228960560

Can't guarantee the race will be on the same channel though.

I'm sure someone will have it on Justin.tv. I'm looking forward to the race tonight, Charlotte is a pretty fast track, not exactly the place I'd plan for my stock car debut but I think he'll be OK if he doesn't get taken out by another backmarker.

Quote from DejaVu :He might make the best movie style edited motorsport videos, but i for one certainly prefer pure racing with sounds and raw video

I can't disagree with that, I love pure engine sounds, but the epicness of his videos is great too.

Quote from PMD9409 :Been there back in 07. Sure its in the middle of no where, look at Pocono, but its a freakin awesome track.

Pocono, the Glen, New Hampshire, Michigan(just naming tracks I've been to) they're all pretty much in the middle of nowhere. That's where race tracks are supposed to be.

I have wondered this same thing myself, I look forward to the answers.
