Dan: Yeah, the N95 looks brilliant, can you tell me what the embedded Flash capabilities for YouTube etc are like, and is there an official MSN Messenger app available?
Dawesdust: It'll be from a reseller of unlocked phones so the firmware will already be modified in some way, hopefully should be tether-able.
The one I'm getting will be unlocked/SIM free but I haven't yet had a phone that couldn't tether- most of them come with PC software for doing so. Hopefully this won't be a problem. And even if it can't tether, I can always put the SIM in my current Viewty and use that.
Appreciate the heads up though.
By the way, is it possible to switch between the standard WinMo desktop and the "pretty" manufacturer UI on these things?
Right, I'm getting an Omnia II The other phones on the list I made were all brilliant but too expensive and I'm not too convinced about the browsing or MSN Messenger capabilities of the N95...
And tethering is a vital feature for me so it seems WinMo is the best choice. Thanks for your suggestions
Awesome, thanks guys Based on the posts, I've narrowed it down to Toshiba TG01, Satio, N95/N900(?), and the Omnia II. I'll have a looky tonight and decide.
Btw, whoever said TV res was 520x526 was wrong- it's 720x576
Jack/Mattesa: The reason I want the hi-res video and 5MP camera is because my Viewty already does this so I don't fancy taking a backwards step in this regard, especially when I'm spending £3-400 on a phone.
Sooo, I'm looking to buy a smartphone early next year and I can't find one that ticks my boxes... I'm looking for:
- Some kind off Office app which exports and reads MS formats
- At least 5MP camera with 640x480 video recording
- GPS module
- Browser which supports Flash player (embedded Youtube videos etc)
I can find phones which tick 3 out of the 4 boxes (the Omnia II does everything except the Flash player, the Nokia E70-something has the browser...) but none which provide all 4. If anyone can help me, that'd be awesome
Does this thing actually work? I installed the main RSRBR and car packs, opened the world's most confusing UI, chose a car and track etc then click Go.... and it crashes to dekstop on "Loading Rally HQ"
Hex is awesome, I'm not sure how far you tilt backwards but it feels like 90 degrees! Pretty sure it's only 30 or something though.
Rita is fantastic too, I didn't know it was faster when I went on it this year so the extra speed was slightly more intense than I expected. Love coming onto the big angled drop and floating in your seat.
Stealth looks great, it looks like Oblivion mixed with Rita which is a win. Not sure my stomach would deal with those two combined though.
Go on Rita. It's exciting and no upside-down shite (which I hate). Also, don't eat and drink water! Actually, nutri-grain's are okay. Stuff yourself with KFC too but leave time for it to settle....
Thanks, I just saw the GS pads and drilled discs for a reasonable price and thought about fitting them to give more stopping power, but as they'll make very little difference and the discs will probably crack, I'll leave it.
Have you tried Oblivion? That was something different as falling face first towards the ground is the weirdest feeling ever. Rita has some nice G forces in the corners as well, not sure how they compare to driving a single seater though
Yeah, it doesn't actually look that scary. It's just a normal coaster in the forest, but I'm sure with all the themeing and queue line stuff it'll be a scary experience.
Alton Towers have started building the world's most terrifying rollercoaster, named Thirteen. Apparently it's so scary you need to be 16-55 and sign a form promising not to sue if you get freaked out by it.
Load of marketing carp, or something completely new after the recent "my ride is faster from 0-60 or has a bigger vertical drop than yours" war between Alton Towers and Thorpe Park with Oblivion, SAW, Rita and Stealth?
Almost posted this topic. It's clearly the Large Hard-on Collider creating a wormhole... Coincidence this happened on the day of the LHC's first high power test?
