same concern here - Ima gonna spend the same I'd spend in a "normal" game. Ill go with a 3month subs for 40€. Ill see what goes from there. If its wow-like quality, ill stay on. Otherwise, was nice, but will go down the road of GTR2 - played, had fun, shelved.

QUESTION:

Will I be able to run a MPR replay from y-22 with y-30?
I got a movie featuring the XFR and I'd like to use the new interiors - but the replay is a week old

Quote from Technique :I don't know. I was rear ended in real life at about the same speed (in a tiny Miata). I slowed and then stopped to yield to another car while a driver coming down a hill said his brakes did not work and he hit me at ~25mph (I'm guessing..!?). The impact was really forceful and LOUD. My car leaped forward and my head whipped back. I thought my car was totaled. When I got out I was amazed that neither my car nor the car that hit me had any signs of damage. The damn bumper didn't even look scratched on either car Then again that was a text book accident - I was hit fairly square and both of our bumpers were at the same height.

In my iRacing incident, it wasn't exactly a square hit (my front right against his rear left).

I worked with cars for 3 years ( a fleet of 120 cars) I we had accidents daily.
One thing I do know is to calculate (roughly) damage costs just from a description of the accident (our drivers were _INSANE_)
A flat bumper to bumper causes nearly NO damage, with luck it will cost 0, with a tad of bad luck, it'll cost a new car emblem (about 100€), and with a bit less luck a new front or rear bumper (very rare).
Usually, when (when both cars are aligned) hits crack the plastic bumper, you'll need a new front grill, new headlamps (they will break) and usually a new bonnet, cause it will get hit, too. This is quite a severe hit, though - cars absorb very well flat hits. I read somewhere that peugeot had the 307/s front bumper rated to hit a wall up to 13kph with no damage at all.
Now, since both bumpers are flexible, they absorb the energy, and can get hit alot harder.

Another thing that is SUPER important in damage is whether you have your BRAKES on or not.
The following accident is real: A big lorry (20t lorry) stopped at a red light.
A small red Citroen AX stopped behind it, some 20 meters away (nearly 2 car lengths).
Our driver, driving a Peugeot Boxer (the big counterpart to britan's for transit) apparently decided braking was too strenous and hit the AX at about 45-55 kph. (driver didnt know). The Citroen didnt have his brakes on, and just went straight on, without braking straight into the back of the lorry. it hit the rear of the lorry, straight on in that lift that some lorries have (the one that folds up flat along the back of the lorry, and then flods down so its easier to unload).

Damages: Our Boxer: the front bumper broke from its supports, tilted down (10 mins of huff n puff fixed that, and off my driver went).
Lorry: no damage. not even a scratch.
Citroen: Perfect rear end - no damage at all.
Destroyed front end - EVERY single part in the front half of the car was destroyed - even the windshield broke (bonnet collapsed into the windshield). I could stand (and I did ) in front of the car, reach to both my sides, and reach both headlamps - I was standing where the engine used to be. (the old lady was fine, btw).

What really damages the car is getting hit slightly sideways - with the corner of the bumper , and/or against something that will not move to absorb the energy - like a car with brakes completly on, or a wall, or a petrol station-pump (boy THAT one was expensive - insurance company had a fit).

what errors? can you post them here?
remember that this method (called whenever your program gets hit by a MCI packet) is assuming the existence of:
  1. a List of clsPlayers called "Players".
  2. a method called GetPlyIdx, which given a a PLID (player ID) will return the index of that player in the list Players.
Obviously, if both these are true, it also requires that
  1. Players != null
  2. for each PLID in MCI Packet exists a clsPlayer in Players
So make sure you are constructing your list of players BEFORE any MCI packets are received (for example, build the list on receiving the enter server packet (I forget the name), and keep the list updated whenever someone leaves, joins, drops, etc. That list of players and connections will be your life, so keep it in tip-top shape at all times.

Edit: edit::jester: You are too on the Hotlap on Ky Oval Rev with FXO why you lost 1.5 Secound to the Hotlap holder (seq.) Why ?

"considering your laptimes, Id reckon youd first learn how to drive at a moderate pace

Cause I had gotten my G25 2 days before that, and was trying it out in hotlaps. Plus, I only did some 20 laps... (to get a decent time, you gotta do hundreds of laps - see my UF1 Personal best - only a few hundreds off the WR, and 289 laps driven)

I have.
A quick search showed Fox 2 (6th from top of WR holders) uses H-shifter and manual clutch on some of his hotlaps (FZ5 hotlaps, mainly). He doesnt have the WR; but is 0,12 secs behind it.
Rudy Van Buren has the FOX KY2r WR and uses manual clutch.
And 510N3D has...
TWELVE (12) World Records Using H-shifter and manual clutch.
TWELVE.

You say none, I just found a few in a 5min search.

considering your laptimes, Id reckon youd first learn how to drive at a moderate pace, THEN see who is fast and who isnt.
Manual shiting and H-gate using arent disadvantages - infact, when used right, they are advantages.

idd. its a very fun track to drive, but very hard to pass nowadays.

Consider this: coming into the adelaide hairpin you cant really get a good exit out of the previous turn, cause its the estoril bend - a looooooong, sweeping, long, fast and long righthander that has cars simply understeer off the track if they are less than 100meters away from the one in front... No way to slipstream in that straight unless the car in front makes a really sloppy exit.
After adelaide hairpin, its the flat out nurbrugring chicane (no line for 2 cars there) and the looong 180º lefthander. If someone manages to do the chicane slightly better than the one in front, a passing opportunity might rise, but its mainly up to the car in front to miss the braking than any special move from the one behind.

Then the superfast imola chicane - again no way to overtake, and the slisptream prevents anyone getting too cclose there, effectivly preventing underbraking attempts in the next righthander.
We will see those attempts, though, cause with a heavy car its easy to exit the chicane wrong, AND if you exit the chicane too FAST, you go wide - straight into the inside of the corner. This little piece of tarmac is very nicely designed for overtaking - if you can weather the dirty air, you put the foot down in the second half of the chicane, exit fast and wide, and are positioned perfectly for a dive down the inside.

Then its the last overtaking position is the last bend before the kerbchicane - classic place, just go down the inside and hope your not overtaking David Crashhard.

Thing is, we will see overtaking in the imola chicane complex, then the overtaken car will try to regain (and prolly will) in the next bend, due to exiting better.

It IS a blast to drive, though - my fave circuit, right after Estoril (but I'm biased)

not quite - I planned my second to the DAY of birth (my wife's birthday)
(only the baby though otherwise and was born 4 days late).

First one was an accident - and heres how it happened. After 3 sessions, the 4th one (aaahhh to be young again )was unprotected (we ran out).
Though I DID "get out in time" she got pregant. The problem was I still had some sperm alive and kickin stuck to my... instrument.
So take it from one who knows - ALWAYS use the bloody thing. And for extra safety, she should be on the pill, too.

I predict a good start by hamilton, gaining a couple positions (well start 11th or 12th), then spectacularly crashing trying to climb someones back in the hairpin (due to hotheadness, eagerness to pass and plain old lack of experience).

Tips?
1) Stop murdering the English language.
2) Punctuation.
3) Attaching the replay.
4) Stop drifting.

I think the problem is most likely you _just_ grazed the wall, and it didnt register in the HLVC local. The web version is more restrctive. Are you using Y or testpatch Y22?

Shots:
I caved in the front (white skin to show off damage more easily than my black/yellow team skin)
1st shot is with the front damaged by a colission with a wall.
2nd is after the first driver change.
Then another series after, I damaged the front AND the rear (by backing up into a wall)

Then yet another small series, where I just caved in the BACK - you can see the nose "shortening", too.

Seems like on driver change, the bodywork damage values arent being correctly passed - seem like to be incrementing somewhere (from the looks of it, seems like theres a parameter i that is multiplyed by deformation to give the AMOUNT of deformation. That i is not being reset, and seems to bee adding to itself on each driver change.
Hopefully its just a matter of something like this:

this.deformationModifier += deformationModifier;
rather than this:
this.deformationModifier = deformationModifier;

In the constructor for the new driver
Quite a easy to make and common mistake

I can also use screenshots in vista - everything works fine. A small text message saying that it has saved "X" file as a screenshot would be nice, though.

Also, In the FBM, the top of the wheel reflects the sky, but the nose of of the car apparently doesnt. (meaning, the car itself when viewed from inside the car doenst SEEM to have reflections).

I have nearly all OS under the sun in my computers at home - 95, 98, XP, Vista, Ubuntu, Fedora (yeah, both are Linux, I KNOW)... Only no macs (that is Unix in disguise )

New computer? Vista.
Despite what the naysayers say, its much better than XP, and the market for apps and drives has matured enough so you can use it with no (or little) hiccups.
If you'r an advanced user, disable User Account Control. If you dont know HOW to disable it, DONT disable it - you dont know enough yet. It WILL be annoying as hell, but it WILL protect you. I caught a virus hidden in a no-cd patch for a game via UAC - the patch was trying to wite to /windir/system32 - something a patch shouldnt do. It is way safer (sometimes annoyingly safer), and has a much better interface - not only looks-wise (way past the time for a OS to use the uber GFX cards everyone now has), but usability-wise too.

For example, in XP, you open an explorer window in say... the LFS/Data/Setups folder. In those 2 billion files, you want the one named "XFG_somethingorother". You hit "X" and it will select the first file with the X letter. And thats it. hit "F" and it will go on to the files starting with the letter F.
In Vista, however, you hit X, and it pops to the "X" files. Hit F and it will go to the "XF" files. Hit G -> "XFG" hit the underscore "_" and "XFG_" and so forth.
Makes it finding file a HELL of a lot faster. Its an idea imported from linux, and a very good one. (though linux will show you a little box so you see what you've been typing).

In the start menu, you got a small box that is the equivalent to the run command. HOWEVER, this box can also be used to SEARCH the start menu.
Pu in the box "paint", DONT hit enter, and it will find the paint shortcut in the start menu for you. (or just type PAI and it will show you all the shortcuts with PAI).
Invaluable when, like all other users, your start menu is a mess of 2348796429874263 differente folders and 2314981239048761 different programs. Even better, the typing cursor is automatically put in the box when you click the start menu, so to being a prog you dont really know where it is, just hit the start menu (or windows key, a-la XP) and type the first few letters of the program. No need ot use the mouse at all.

Theres several of these small additions (like the omni-present search box on all windows) that REALLY help your life.
Going back to XP, though its more "familiar" feels somewhat clunky and clmusy. Navigating through endless folders just feels weird (in vista you got those dropdown foldertrees from the "triangles" in the address bar of the explorer window).

On an old computer - not worth the cash.
On a new one, though - go for it.

HOWEVER - THIS IS IMPORTANT.

If your computer is dual-core (as it should be) get Vista 64bit.
64-bit vista has about 70% less problems than vista 32-bit. 32-bit vista IS XP on a drag. (which is just win98 in a drag, BTW).
Also, get 2 gigs ram at least. With vista, firefox, and some otehr apps, I got 30% free physical mem free (from 2gigs). 1 gig is NOT enough.

EDIT: forgot to mention I also tried vista 32 on this computer, and it was hell - diVX didnt work, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. kept crashing, had a zillion little problems that had me go back to XP (this was a year ago). I got vista 64, and no problems so far.
Gotta love being a computer science student with free access to loads of microsoft products!

I hope you germans play your best - if you play your worst, so will we, and we will loose (switzerland anyone?). Best way to beat portugal is to announce to the world that your team has no chance of beating portugal. Then the players go into the field half asleep and you can hammer us
