Quote from fastpeon :The conversion would have to be done by fans. There are fans of old racing games around, trust me Low poly count doesn't really matter when it comes to nostalgia.

Would all racing games be the same? Is a racing game really just a bunch of cars and tracks? I guess not - see lfs

Then it makes much more sense to re-model all tracks from scratch, and use a game that supports modding. I don't know about rFactor, but maybe there are some tracks from old games already.

The racing games/sims wouldn't be "the same" of course, but I think every set of tracks has it's own atmosphere, and this can differ a lot. For example, a rFactor track in LFS wouldn't be LFS anymore, because it's not Eric style

Do you really think a game developer would take a 5, 10 or more years old game out of the dusty cupboard just to add support for a open source file system that probably will only result in thousands of crappy tracks in racing games, or even worse - no differences, all games would be the same?
That doesn't make sense, besides the fact that LFS doesn't support modding atm, and it's not sure if it will ever support modding - maybe with S3.

Sidenote:
Any data from a game that is older than 5 years is obsolete anyway - low poly, crappy textures etc. So you can't convert this track data into a newer game anyway.

According to the online racers graph on lfsworld, the master was down shortly at the time when you posted.

Just go to lfsworld.net and click at home and watch the graph there, or take a look at the banners here on the forums. You will find this one every now and then:

People always drive the fastest car, if its not too difficult to control, even though the faster the car is, the less racing and more hotlapping is going on.
The slow cars, specially the good old TBO class are really underrated.
Imo, ppl dont use the normal road cars anymore because the locked diffs make them handle like crap. A setup that actually feels like a car is mostly slower than for example the FWD setups which oversteer more at turn exit than a RWD...

It might be a good idea to post the solution in order to help other who have the same problem
(If you have found the problem yet)

Well, from a distant point of view, and taking psychologial blah blah into account, Alonso seemed to act like a young boy who's mother has forbidden to open the drawer with the chocolate in it. Such a boy would try and first touch the handle, pull it a bit, and always look at his mother's reaction. She will let him go on until a certain point.
I guess Alonso just tried to test the limits, and the Stewards made this penalty just for this testing of limits, which was obviously unnecessary.
Why not just be a fair gentleman and let the faster pass? Its also a bit of arrogance in there, maybe even Gay Flavio forced Alonso to do this....

The rocket start from Renault will put Alonso a couple of places ahead after T1 anyway...

Is there actually some rule that says what the maximum distance between two cars must be?

Well, its just logic
If you want to sell an account, you must give the data to another user, and you are not allowed to do this. -> Its not allowed to sell a lincense.
But if you are not too stupid and dont post this in the middle of the official forum, nobody will notice and its not a problem to sell an account

Who cares anyway

Please note that the current nvidia and ati drivers are rather basic - without any tweaks and optimizations (thats also the main reason for the small file sizes).
Im sure the performance problems will be reduced a lot with drivers for the final vista release, even though the fps might still be a tad lower because of all that stuff running in the background and eating ram and cpu for breakfast...

I guess its the BF1 suspension change.
However, if you want to watch an old replay, you can always revert to the patch you used when saving the replay, then it must work.

1. A material can be put onto a model without having assigned a material to them in the material editor.

2. The default renderer isnt really nice, you can do some basic renders with it which look ok (like mine, check the ZT gallery), but for better results you need more advanced renderers. Specially, Brazil, vray, etc are much faster - the rendering times are significantly lower.
Metal ray is very good (peple ay that, I have never used anything else than the scanline default), but very difficult to use.

The devs dont allow modding because it sucks.

We don't need a huge amout of crap models in LFS, like there is in rFactor.
In a couple of years it might be possible to create custom content for LFS, with the required online systems to allow only good stuff of course.

1. If you write a bug report, it must include the details a programmer needs to reproduce, find and fix this bug, which might require a long testing and a couple of sentences/imagse to describe. "zomg teh game crasin all the time" doesn't really help anyone.
Also ensure that your hardware and software is not faulty and thus not causing the problems.

2. If something isnt running as expected, and you are not 100% sure that LFS is the problem, you may not post a bug report. Go to the technical assistance forum and describe your problem as detailed as possible, after you used the search function and read threads with probably similar experiences.
If other members have the same problem, its a good idea to sit together and try finding a solution.
In general, it's always a good idea to post your system configuration, also when you are sure this isnt causing the problem (simply because you can never be sure ).

3. To solve your problem, I recomend you check if the patch files were extracted in the correct place, and if ALL files and folders are not hidden or write protected. Then it should work. Otherwise it's a bug in Vista (Yet another one... o_0).
