Well, made a little fun benchmark today with one of my school buddies: launching 3dsmax9 on his uber-high-end notebook with vista, and on my crap 1.5GHz Centrino
I had created a teapot and started rendering when his viewport started to show up...
Ok, he has "only" 2 cores and 2GB ram though. Prolly not enough for Vista... oO

use a mip bias of +400 and everything is a smooth (and unsharp) as in other games

I dont know whats the problem, cause shifting fo N works flawlessly for me (just gotta click fast if you dont wanna over rev the engine)

pro new clutch system:
-you can influence the shift times, or the amount of clutch wear
-more realistic (because less helps as the throttle cut/blip has gone)

cons:
-increase pedal wear (the ones under your desk)
-too big step from autoshift to manual shifting (newbies will rather stick to the crappy autoshift, because the clutch is really weak in some cars, and because you dont just need to learn how to shift correctly, but also how to shift with the clutch)
-a couple people think its a but when the car doesnt shift, they just dont know about the clutch thing, and the FBM can mosty shift in the low gears (remember the people moaning about a bug where their car doesnt drive faster than 79mkh hehe)
-crappy with keyboard, as you need to push even more buttons (but not really a fully valid argument as kb is not the way to play a sim)

Mh I like the new feature though, but my pedals dont really like that, and Im afraid in very long races your legs might fall off
I expect tweaks and hacks that do this auto shifting for you anyways, just like the button clutch story, so maybe its a good idea to add a semi-realistic feature with auto clutch, but just a tiny bit slower than when you clutch manually.
I guess just like the olg clutch, but simply force the throttle cut...

Yep thats a weird bug, but I already sent sc a mail with a screenie, alongside with a screen of the original ico file.
I guess something went wrong when compiling the ico into the exe.

I didnt upload the file so everyone stops using the auto updater, I uploaded it only because of one guy having to install it on 6 computers.

So, if you have had any problems with the auto updater, please post the exact error message here.

"Couldn't Save" might be a hint for a write-protected file or folder, maybe you are using some tool that is still running, and prevents other apps from writing a file in the lfs directory?

For changing the icon, you either need a tool to modify the one in the exe, or just wait for the new patch with the new one.
Otherwise you can assign the icon also to your link on the desktop.

The icons are only in 16px, 32px and 64px inside this multi-res icon...
I can try to make another in 48px though, but no idea if that works in windows

I also agree to online and offline penalties, cause then it would be easy to calculate the total time differences on all combos, which might make balancing a bit easier (however, this doesnt consider tyre wear, fuel usage etc.)
