Quote from Mysho :Hi,

didn't find a thread about this here so I'll start one. Today had some nostalgic minute and watched again one of my favorite game intros that are still incredible to me.

Here are some of best intros I really love:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YMmif4LQl5Y Mobil 1 Rally Championship 2000 Intro

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qjpcle5lVXY Grand Prix 3 Intro

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=epNWBW5iLbY Le Mans 24 Hours Intro (PS1)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KUzey4gMnaI Toca 2 Intro

I'm sure your list is also interesting so post 'em here! Why today's games don't have intros? Also, seeing these I still think these games are still the best!

Mobil1 rally and Toca2 intro in the same post, add Colin McRae Rally 2 into to that and it's end of topic.

Anyways, we sorted something out with Jarda and Martin already, so thanks everyone for the help

Quote from bishtop :the thing is that a setup that is good for wont mean its going to be good for the next person. IRL if 2 racers have the same cars would that mean they both will cross the finish line together, no as its down to the drivers capabilities

But how is all that related to my theory about endurance and driver swaps affecting how setups are built?

Hey there!

I'll be visiting Prague soon for half a day, more like a drive through, but I'll still have time to check around stuff. What is worth visiting when I'm there? Thanks for the guide in advance.

I see your point in your last sentence, although I still don't approve your opinion on setup stealing. As if you were around in LFS for the last couple years, you would know that the competitive scene is dominated by endurance, where 3-4 people use the same setups and become much more generic, than suiting a single person's taste, hence making it a lot "better" target for setup stealing. How do you want to personalize a setup made for 3 or more people? It's not really achieveable. It's just how the car handles a one hour stint, how well the setup manages the tires along with you and how fast you can go while doing all that.

You also rant on how people make bad equaliences with card games and such, but you really do the same by trying to compare club racing and professional racing.

Quote from Tomhah :That's far from the real croft, it looks horrible from the video in my opinion. The layout is far from correct.
The rFactor 2 version of Croft is much closer to reality.

Thumb down! :P

Was exactly my opinion too, though I wasn't there, but the rF2 version looks a lot more legit.

Only people who never spent hours or days trying to get a setup running as good as they imagined on the sheets approve the stealing of setups. I see that LFS is not an eSport and is not profitable in any ways, but do you think people sticked here for money? Accomplishment, knowing that something you created works and you achieve something with it is one of the best feelings and someone who steals it all by 2 clicks and might run you short on your goals by doing so... that's something I would want to avoid.

I agree. And the developers kept their habit of teasing with content that we may not know of. Looks like a lot more is hidden beside a few improvements to tyre physics.

Quote from IsaacPrice :In iRacing you need a better feel on the brake pedal and can't just go 100% brake like you can in some other sims, that's the only reason I can think of you might struggle with a DFGT but I personally never had a problem

Exactly a point I mentioned in the General Discussion topic and how load-cell pedals act in LFS compared to other sims. Basically, you might say having a loadcell pedal in iRacing if you compete in a non-ABS car is heaven and hell.

I never had a DFGT, but I had a G25. It was enough to feel the car nicely around the track, and gave pretty nice inputs from the tires to not feel like I'm driving a LEGO car. I thought that was perfect. Then I got a CSW and it's not only a single step forward in FFB feel. But that's to be said in rF2, AC and basically anywhere except for LFS, which is weird.

Quote from BlakjeKaas :I would assume the servers were kinda empty before this though.

Guess what, they weren't. There were quite a few populated servers of around 20-30 people playing at all times. I was surprised by that when I bought it a year ago or so.

Quote from CodeLyoko1 :you can fake that reaction pretty easily (from their perspective)

So instead of trying to mathematically solve things you have no sight on, how about getting to race or may even get a proper wheel to transmit the FFB from iRacing? The tires feel pretty neat finally and they aren't just lego blocks under your car that have some grip.

This sounded rather interesting:

Silverstone Circuit

- Fixed a badly defined segment of track that could crash the sim for everyone connected if someone drove over that one exact spot.

Quote from Keling :The "I've tested like 3 bad mods out of 3000, this game must be terrible in every way" mindset is now officially Coming Soon™ in AC land.

That mindset is totally coming with people who weren't participating in the Early Access since november. But well, to be honest rF1 has 3 cars and only a pair of tracks in the default content, and those aren't that advanced, really feels like a few half-assed usermods. Of course that doesn't mean rFactor has a bad physics engine, just look at the NSX, Supra and whatever mods that guy made.

They basically just took what Kegetys worked out and put the code right into their software. I'm just glad the netcode works as supposed finally. I don't get laucnhed into the air after some minor collision.

Quote from MandulAA :TMUF was the best with all the 7 enviroments, anyway! I had some great results there, too.

I bought TMU off ebay, got shipped in 2 days, opened the DVD box and the code was already associated with an account as suggested. That was feeling like meh, so I had to get TM2 and now I can play a single environment for double price.

I have to see that new multiplayer. Maybe here is the time when AC breaks the barrier and leagues can finally start to use it, and people take it seriously.

Quote from Töki (HUN) :The schedule can be found somewhere on the members site. Under the events tab, or one of those menus.

I think that applies to the current season, but I'm rather interested in the next season's schedules, which are hidden in the dark parts of the forum, somewhere.

I got Stadium on summer sale and disappointed to see it even cheaper now I thought it will never go over 40%, but see the magic. Anyways, how are the other 2 expainsons other than Stadium, Mike? I was about to get it but looks like nobody is really driving those.

Quote from Da Hoe :could be because he is driving with 900° and iirc you arent, thats why you can drift so easily.

I was driving 900 deg since like ever and it's not really a challenge to catch a slide in any of the simulators really.

Quote from 5tag :I'm not sure if I understand your problem correctly, but have you tried adjusting the braking force in the car's setup? For instance the FXR can be set for up to 3287 Nm per wheel and when I set it to 2500 Nm and 73% front bias it still easily locks up all four wheels (R2 tyres at ~90°C) at speed.

So it should be possible to set the brakes up sensitive enough for them to lock the wheels at even half-way pedal use.

I see what you did there, but as far as Endurance goes, everyone uses the same setup in a team and brake force is not something I can set mid-race, and this worked out pretty well, by everyone flatting brakes out everywhere, but I just can't seem to have a future in this sim like this.
