Quote from zeugnimod :Wow, what a ridiculous attitude. :thumbsdow

I hope you're aware that I was referring to JUST BL2R track and ONLY in demo environment? On licensed server, where you can expect more experienced drivers (sadly that's not always true) cutting doesn't drastically increase safe passing through T1/T2 sequence and there's not really point for doing it (except for fun and to bring some good old time memories :-))

And if someone wants badly to take you out there by slamming your car to the wall, there's plenty options how to outsmart such fellow, but I'm sure you are aware of that, but probably just forgot...

Quote from Hyperdrive :
Incidentally, JoRuss really is the expert on BL2R. He's actually covered more laps on that track alone than you have in your entire LFS career, and is still out there chasing his perfect lap.:insane:

So true, so true, Master...

Quote from legoflamb :BL2R promotes cutting the track. Its kind of like FE, if you don't cut you are not competitive. With BL2R cutting the sand trap is required to race competitively.

I always try to avoid that track. I agree with kev.

If you feel you can't compete without cutting T1 feel free to do it as well...
In fact, when there wasn't any insim software emulating restricted zones you couldn't do much about it and, frankly, in demo, cutting over grass was way safer for everybody (even thought that was a killer for suspension these days) .

And of course you miss the fun off throwing an old xrg into drifft at over 150km/h when you go flat-out through T1/T2 there when not cutting... try it someday ;-)

And last, but not least, that constant moaning about demo being crashers fest... I feel that it's like some `right-thing-to-say` mantra here... IMO most of people say that even thought they don't understand what they actually talking about :-) There's plenty good demo servers, well managed, and even thought sometimes some punk emerge there, he'll be taken out relatively quickly...

I spent most of my lfs life on demo servers and still enjoying racing there and pre-x-patch times bl2r demo servers had many licensed drivers among regular visitors due simple fact that in S1/S2 mode servers with that combo (same as it is now) were badly deserted and you can't enjoy racing much without racers, do you?

...and yes, I've been crashed many times... so what... Happens... get over it, and try to catch up to the pack, that's fun too. :-)

am i weird?

Yes. Probably as much as me... sorry...
BL2R was popular in demo, but once devs took it out of there, track died quickly...
There's one server (I know about) that is full time set on this track, it's [AA] Demo BL2R but, since it's demo, it's limited to xfr/xrg only...

since someone dug that old dog out...

/me dreams on...

What'd be really cool is dirt/rock/whatever arena generated out of single random number/string/whatever. Those who played 1nsane should know what I mean, if you didn't I strongly recommend it :-)
By just typing some random value you'd get unique and exactly the same (generated by the same algorithm) surface for everyone connected... endless fun, and no more moaning for new tracks... at least for autocross.

In fact, with maximum height change limit, even non-rally'ers might make use of it...

/me dreams off...

ISP_PLL, // 23 - info : player leave (spectate - loses slot)

Actually when you're in lobby (i.e. before race starts) you don't get these packets at all... but accidentally I found out that I've overlooked something there. Once you get out of garage NPL packet is sent, that doesn't make sense (since you appear to be on grid all the time) but gives some options here... 'k so just one idea ;-)

Just to clear these two ideas off my head ;-)

Mostly insim extension i guess...

- Ability to send setup from server to player (to help people not familiar with track they got on)

- Sending a packet when player gets to garage (lobby screen, not on track)

My point was it doesn't matter what was the cause, curbs or something else (car for example) when you doin' it wrong you can't expect the game to not punish you for your actions. Once you get past the verge of flipping it's one way road...
You basically went into uphill turn too early, bumped left side while turning at 140km/h with 2g side acceleration... how'd you expect to end that if not by flipping

I recently finally started to use downforce properly which results in ~0.5 sec speedup around the track, so I dare to chip in some hints...

When you ease off accelerator while cornering, you're loosing front downforce and understeer at speeds that should get you safely through with some throtle on.

Try to brake earlier but shorter (that 50m marks are good tip, also chicane starts) you won't loose that much speed when rolling near to the apex. There hit the accelerator and straighten your wheels (if you don't you might understeer anyway)

And in the end... nothing revolutionary but... the smoother lap the shorter time...

ps. 1.13.7 with mouse is what I managed to reach atm... just can't get a hang of trail braking with mouse ;-)

No big deal actually, but I noticed that reload link on window menu (the one that pops up when you click in top-left corner (icon) in any lfsw window) isn't working as it should... at least not as I imagined it should.

To test it please visit for example this page (take a note of the lovely photo if you'll get there anyway ;-) ), click window icon and choose reload.

As for me It loads my own stats instead of some others. Empty page in case I'm not logged in.

I'm not sure if I'll be able to make it to the race, but maybe something will change in my day shedule by the spring...

save for me bl2r with xfg as "Silesian Joker".
Race format:
Standard 2 race event with 8 laps per race (including 1 joker lap*) and reversed grid in second race.
Special rules:
- Everyone wear some additional weght based on the PB time difference to the WR as below:

pb time < 1.12.50: +1kg/0.02sec (that goes up to 190kg closing to WR time)

- I'd add also bonus 1% intake restriction for those below WR time, as we do have WR holder among us (cheers Boost ;-)) but that needs some testing...

It should ensure that even those unfamiliar with track would have chance competing with the others.

*what joker lap is you may read there or see example attached to this post

No to be wrongfully undestood. I don't see a problem running league in place of Silver by someone else due his sudden absence, just wanted to make sure it'll be still his league by the time his back.

I wrote my thoughts just because dekojester asked for them in one of previous posts and I'm happy he took 'em into account.

Quote from Mazar :
There would have been no round5 without deko..and where were you when help was needed? your AA team, dont show to drive, dont show to help admin, dont even bother to pass word the organisers wont be there? yet you blame me...

Quote from Mazar :
Where were you when AA screwed up the event and whole series by not getting word out that AA Silver Arrows wasnt going to show up? above it shows you may well have known what was going on in joruss's post. Sounds as if you guys new all along Silver wasn't going to show up. Nice of you to let us know..thanks

Aren't you being paranoid there?
yes, Silver is AA team member, but assuming that you were somehow cheated by not knowing about his absence is ridiculous...
You may see here information about no responses from Silver, probably caused by computer related problems - probably - cause we don't know what's going on with him.

Quote from Mazar :Silver was racing on our server for hours, when questioned by Robey about official results from ROUND3!!! he went to post them right there and then, promising to bring the Round4 results out immediately. There where no protests awaiting anything...as a team manager, driver in the series, for sure i have the right to question the effort put in.

Sorry, can't answer for him... you have to wait for an answer till his return.

Round5 was run in the absence *since round4* of the original series organizer. We just about, thanks to Deko and NDR team managed to make the event happen in a very short space of time once it became clear the organizer could not and was not going to make the event.

Yes, that was short note, but such experienced race director shouldn't have made that weird decisions.

- Letting one racer with burned clutch crawl to the pits (having other players endangered with his slow and almost uncontrolable movements) and then DNF'ing him in pitlane for burned clutch.

- Above mentioned player was asked to revving engine in pits when his clutch temerature was already going down. Just to make sure he won't be able to continue racing?

- And finally disqualifing him again for leaving race server early...

[1GP RaceAdmin] :AMD D.Opasik - DNF - Reason: Clutch
[1GP RaceAdmin] :AMD D.Opasik will be penalised post-race for disconnecting from server early.
[1GP RaceAdmin] :Likely penalty: DSQ

- Having co-admin mate with almost identital name on server chatting and commenting situation on track...

[1GP RaceAdmin] :[GWR]M.Barnsley - I will spec you shortly
[GWR]M.Barnsley :no im getting out
[1GP RaceAdmin] :Maybe.
[1GP Race Admin] :You're making about 2mm progress every few secs
[1GP Race Admin] :Should be back on the tarmac by tommorrow :D
[1GP RaceAdmin] :I think we've got two cars beached.
[1GP Race Admin] :and Miles is working on it :P
[1GP RaceAdmin] :Wow.
[1GP Race Admin] :Barnsley's put
[1GP Race Admin] :out
[1GP Race Admin] :and so is Miles!
[GWR]M.Barnsley :i got uot
[1GP Race Admin] :Out of the sand
[1GP Race Admin] ::-)
[1GP Race Admin] :That was quite spectacular

do race admins with "profesional" attitude should act like this?

- forgetting about given then cleared for some reason(?) penalties

[GWR]M.Barnsley :my drive throught needs to be reisued
[GWR]M.Barnsley: DRIVE-THROUGH PENALTY
[GWR]M.Barnsley :ty
[GWR]M.Barnsley completed his drive-through penalty

c'mon... does driver really needs to ask for penalty?

- Not keeping his own words.

[1GP RaceAdmin] : NOTICE: Please Drive to pitlane (inlap) after finishing. NO parking, spining, etc post-race

and at the end of race:

[1GP RaceAdmin] :Drive and get to pitlane, and pull into a garage stall
[GWR]M.Barnsley :sry
[1GP Race Admin] :LOL
[1GP RaceAdmin] :NO CHAT
[1GP RaceAdmin] :Still no chat, please

[GWR]C.Miles joined the spectators
[1GP RaceAdmin] : Alright, I'll open it up.
[1GP Race Admin] : Yo Maz
[1GP Race Admin] : :-)

and at this point there were still racers left on cool-down laps driving to the pits as requested earlier.

About not serving blue flag of one of GWR racer... Who really thinks that Drive-Through or Stop-Go presents any threat for dude who is 10 or 20 laps down relatively to the driver who is blocked by him? I don't.

and finally about the race... seriously... someone has problems with 'respect' thing... Just few examples:

[1GP RaceAdmin] : [SR] M.Beattie - I'm beginning to suspect that you have some disrespect here

[1GP RaceAdmin] :Alright, those asshats who do "Teh Oval SUcks!!!111!!" clearly have no respect for others.
[1GP RaceAdmin] :IMHO.

[1GP RaceAdmin] :In addition, [SR] M.Beattie will face extra investigations after race for lack...
[1GP RaceAdmin] :...of respect to other competitors

That notices should be passed to team managers after race instead of arguing with drivers during race. IMHO.

Quote :As there is still no word, we must make plans for the future efficient running of the oneGP championship. I believe NDR should take over the running of the series in the absence of the original organizer, they have the tools, people and motivation to what the series needs in organization, event running and most importantly promotion.

Just to remind you that this is not NDR series, they just agreed to step in and help with keeping this series running, period. But since they come to this I have weird feeling that they want to steal it and run on their own with their own stated rules (clearly disobeying existing rules and precendents)

So, because I don't have admin here and don't have ability to edit or sticky or close or open anything, I'm going to post everything from now in the LFSForums subsection for oneGP. I will be creating a New Dimension Racing subsection soon for oneGP, once I get the fourm set up for us, so that we may have an extra place to post than the LFSForums.

how not having admin rights in forum makes his work any different and
even not possible to complete?

Quote from Mazar :Silver could not find the time to post results after Round4! but was able to find time to race with us on our server practicing for round5. He could not find the time to post the stats, or results. A 30min job, no longer than the races he was driving in. This is effort?

round 4 was 28.06 2008 and Silver was gone missing 2 days later... add some time for post race appeals he was waiting for and there's not much time left for posting the results (not to mention having some real life things issues that pays the bills). And since you have no idea what was the cause of his absence you have no right to question all the effort he put into organising and running this series with just one sily sentence.

just my 5 cents.. no change needed...

With proper insim software this can be eliminated even on demo servers... You can see it working on www.airattack.co.uk #1 and #2 servers. They're both demo servers and you can't cut there last turn on rally (#2) neither crash across the corner at the end of long straight in GP (#1) I agree that this chicane may be issue on reversed configuration*, but it's no longer accesible in demo and is easily fixable in s1/2.

*altought i'll gladly call my words off when someone post lap replay with time better than WR, done with cutting that chicane in non reversed configuration

Hi there...

Few things I'd love to see...

Setup filter
I have a lot of setups for one track/car combo, since i'm new to s1 world it's mainly backwood ones, but i can realize what pain it might be to search for specific setup for different track.
It might be simple string filter so by typing in 'SO6' it'd show only setups with SO6 in name or 3rd tab with only setups for selected track i'm on (sure, this way i'd have to be on some server first for this to work.)

User language reporting via Insim
Since devs paid much attention for lfs to become as multilingual as it is possible, why not give similar aid for insim add-ons developers.
Belive or not, not eveybody understand english...

Possibility to load/save full controlers settings for specified track-car combo
Don't know if it's just me, but i can't race with fixed steering settings... rally needs no turn compensation and steer smoothing, while fbm requires both... and for SO tracks i need even more turn compensation... Yes, sure, i can adjust it every time, but doubt if i can remember that settings for all tracks.

Simpliest way how to do that might be by adding '/savecontrols somefile' command and replacing %car %track (or something similar) in '//' starting commands with proper(currently selected) values, so one can then request execution of '//controls_%car_%track' script and load eariler saved settings...

What you think?

Hi there...

I'd like to point out that demo player with admin rights on s1/s2 host with demo compatibile setup has the ability to edit layout (for a short period at least, as he get's kicked off the server - as well as all demo players connected - after placing an object, and host falls to S1 mode) I guess that's unwanted feature (that layout editing I mean) :-)

Hi there...
I know it's kinda late, but i'm just trying my luck with mouse and finding that issue hardly annoing, so here's temporary (I hope) fixup for mouse handling in lfs.

http://www.mediafire.com/?dkg0x6sabxl
Just start lfs_mfix.exe and it should work from scratch.
