@Bandit: +10*10^100000000000000000000000000000:

They'll probably have a new exterior trim, like a racing strip or a sticker from the dealer... That might change the aerodynamics of the car.

Yes. The XR Cars got a lowered CoG, if I remember correctly. Check the posts from 2007/2008.

I highly doubt that the game won't have any gameplay if the content is out of date. You can barely or hardly compare it to anything real... it will be a new experience in LFS, espeically for those who can't drive IRL (ie. Me =D)

To tell you the truth, I've driven the XRG like 1000 laps around BL1, and XRT a few hundred around FE1R etc. These cars are like late 80s RX7s. So what?

The fact is that the Scirocco might not even arrive. I hold a hope every time I come to the LFS.net to see if there's an update, but everytime, it is the post about the server move post Feb. 9 2010.

I didn't see this thread before. But to tell you the truth, I suffer the same problem as the OP with my DFGT. Clockwise, it feels really smooth, but CounterCW, it feels more clunky. I used to think that it was the strength of my left and right arm pulling the wheel, but after training my left arm and right arm respectively (using the hshifter on left/right side) it seems to be the wheels problem.

However, with the FFB motors on, it seems that the problems are no longer there (or not significant)

EDIT: I believe (hypothesis, no context or proof) that it is caused by the wheel going against the gears and along with them. Well, that's what I see in my head.

I'm not exactly sure. In any case, I didn't touch any settings after reformat, and CS:S seems to run exactly the same. It's only LFS in - game. On the Welcome Screen and the regular menu music, everything runs absolutely fine.

Sounds like a great idea... but it would need to be implemented into the game so that it feels fair... dunno how you'd do that though.
Clipping Sound in - game LFS
GenesisX
S2 licensed
Hi,

I did a reformat a few weeks back. It started right after installing the game. Whenever I applied throttle (actually whenever the engine was on), all the sounds were clipping (or whatever you call it)... lagging? or some delay between a sound.

I've been running the exact hardware on LFS for 4 months, now, and similar hardware for 2 years now. I do not know what the problem is. The drivers should be the same (if not updated for the GPU [5770[).

One change is that I am running TinyXP opposed to a tweaked nLite XP that I used to run. Would that be a potential problem?

TIA!

Everything is different now. Don't get bottled up in history. Though I wasn't in the game when everything was AMD dominated (was when it ended ; C2D), don't look at brand, but model. Everything is pretty much compatiable now, and there aren't that much problems as long as they fit (pretty much).

Regarding your Alpha Dog 8800GT, you can go out and grab some 9800GT or even a GT240(will probably cost less because of production and faster [clocked high on avg to 55nm). Make sure that they are of the same core [G92 with 112 SPs]. If a GT240 is bought, it cannot (i believe) be the one with 128 bit and GDDR5; though if the core was the same, and effective mem rate was twice that of the 256 bit and GDDR3 model would yield same performance, they need to be the same to be SLId. If anything, get a higher model GPU and PhysX the current 8800GT.

Quote from dadge :i have a friend running lfs perfectly fine ona 256mb 7600GT.

I did that! On a C2D @ 3 GHz and 7600GT; everything on HIGH. I ran 1080p and also 2560 x 1024... I got as much FPS as possible (VSYNC ON). If you are running on KB, then get a wheel FCOL!

Again, you are exaggerating what everyone is saying. A 4650 doesn't use that much power. If I read one of the old PCs @ school, the generic P4 350W PC pumps out ~ 20 AMPs on the 12V rail. For heaven sake, it is a small little 4650. Damn, we aren't talking big f**king garbage trucks, but small little mini coopers. I mean, people run 8600GTS and 8800GT on that spec.

Again, its a small 4650; yes, you may get a little bottleneck. But for $10 less, you get a card that has like DX7 desig. shaders, and SD Ram @ 64 bit pumping like less that 1 GB/s of bandwidth. With these AGP cards thinning out, high and low performance card prices are set by the seller. lol: You might as well, unless you are running pre millenium hardware of which, yeah. Get a new PC that can run 3D pinball...

Mmmm...Clear understatements. AGP isn't that slow. Most cards even today can't use the full bandwidth of it. You lose 3% in performance when running the first few PCIe 2.0 cards @ 1.1 spec 16x. You may lose another few percent by running PCIe 2.0 cards @ 1.1 spec 8x. At that speed, the bus is running at the old AGP 8x speeds. They aren't fast; its just the cards that run off them cost a hell load of money. Does it justify the costs? If you really want to revive an old PC, you can easily go off and find one of those old 6200s or 7300s with the good old 128 bus and flash them. There you get a 6600 (Vanilla) or 7600GS, etc. Nowadays, they should all cost the same, and you get probably get a cheap card that gets the work done for a mesely 20-30 dollars; if you find the deal. Many people sell old PCs; ask if you can take, for example, the GPU of the PC.

To tell you the truth, many systems can run many games. It is to what detail you want to run them in. You can always run CS:S at blundering CS 1.6 looks, and get that done on the Pentium 3 @ 1 GHz, and some cheap Geforce 2 card. On any case, a rig that was made this year or so would have trouble maintaining a well over 70 fps in Crysis. However, a rig that was built around the Source dominant era could run it at low resolution and detail at ~40 frames.

@Shaun; ehhh, can't you just BIOS flash the cards. To my knowledge [even though i grew up in the later series], the GTO lacked core speed and PRO had 4 pipes locked up. Even then, it doesn't make a difference as they lag behind so much towards current kings that that difference is small; even unnoticeable.

Setting physical wheel rotation from LFS
GenesisX
S2 licensed
Is it possible to set LFS rotation per vehicle such as native LFS vehicle's rotation? ex. Racing XF GTi, wheel automatically sets to 720; racing 540 for XR GTR etc. How about according to driver? I have drivers set to 720 degrees for my XRG / XRT driver (the same as XFG driver except on h -shifter). Are there any programs that can do that, or do I have to open up Logitech Profiler every single f*c*i*g time?

Individual Sector Time and LAP Time in Single Player
GenesisX
S2 licensed
Hi,

What I am looking for is the commonly found 'Airio?' program for single player if there are any. The purpose is obvious. I want to be able to practice in Single Player without having to restart every 2 laps when someone crashes into someone else or me, and we have to start over =). Things that it include ought to be sector time, best sector time, (time / +/- ...) and lap time and best lap time (time +/-) etc. Are there any that I can add for myself during single player? It is easier so I can do many laps focusing on one particular sector, (looking at S3 right now of BL1).

Any response appreciated =D

Mhmmm... Even if you get an HDMI to DVI, DP to DVI, it should not pose you any problems given that you are running the one native DVI display. Yes, I really think it is hte 5800's fault. Drivers?

You mean waiting for the new nVidia GTX460/480s so that the current card prices drop. You don't need these hefty cards pumping 200 GB/s of memory bandwidth and 500 SPs running a DX8 game. It is pointless. For LFS, you can just go for a used 8800 GTS performance level card such as a 9600GT, 8800GS, 3870, 4670, 4830, 4770. Running a GTX260 just for LFS is pointless. You are wasting your money better spent elsewhere; such as a better wheel, a bigger monitor as per needed.

GenesisX

EDIT: You can go for the newer 5670s which are really well suited for this. In addition, you can pump out video / audio through the HDMI port, and do all sorts of stuff. These well packed cards get the job done; you will be happy to get good HTPC capabilities with this sub $100 card.

No, a GTX260 is not needed.

Sorry for double post...

I double checked the name of your wheel, and dumped it into Google. What can I do without Google. Anyways, I looked at this website. http://xbox.about.com/od/xboxa ... ries/fr/madcatzmc2rev.htm

Apparently, there is a thing called 'deadzone' which can be adjusted. What it is is stated on the page. It is the amount of rotation before the turn gets registered. In this case, the deadzone set on your wheel is too great, and you will need to adjust it. How? I do not know. Manuals? maybe buttons on the wheel? Yours to find out. Anyways, that is the answer to your question. Enjoy some LFS! =D

Hmmm... That may be the thing. Try playing around with it. I myself do NOT have any electronical, hardware-ish backgrounds, but maybe the digital is doing an ON - OFF switch type of thing, such as if the wheel is @ full lock, then it is now 'ON' and sends the signal that the wheel is left or right respectively.

Give it a try =D.

These are all good excuses for my crashes... I mean; I'm a drifter!!!! YEAH!!!!!

But seriously, some of these are truly legit. I have found myself braking behind another car whilst being in its slipstream... Couldn't stop fast enough. However, these don't result in the car going off the track, but losing a few seconds on the lap, and drifting a bit. I told you you can drift in a XFG! =D

Mhmmm... I'd say so also. It was enough hassle for myself to get the $50 out of my wallet to get S2. A possibility if the improvements were made at a pace of iRacing, etc... but currently... I'd say nothing.
