Quote from TFalke55 :Every team can decide where they want to drive which of the cars and you can switch classes without (until the start of qualifying) consequences. There won't be restrictions about spots per class.

The goal is the test of a platform where people can decide on driving the car, they want to drive most.

And do you mean start of qualifying per round, as in they can choose any car for any round, or are they stuck with the car for the entire season? I think that would be a clarification that would make a difference in this discussion.

@others: I think this is somewhat a replication of VLN-type racing. More grid slots would be better, of course

Quote from pantiainen :Probably for the first time, but until Nov 14-15 almost all my weekends are taken due to work or holiday trips.

I wish you all the best with your new job Deko!

Conveniently, I am on my new hire probationary period through 9 November so I won't promise any events before then, depending how the first 60 days go also :P

rFactor2 is where it's at. Hopefully the same for Kyoto 250/500 style events as well in the future.

I'd still be down for this and a Westfield festival of speed style of thing.

Other than the abysmal FFB and physics.

For once I agree with you.

It's entirely possible that there are mods that have suitable FFB and physics. Any rF2 mods would be tested and vetted before being used in a league environment.

I do wish to thank all who have expressed interest in a 2015 Kyoto 500. The news is this:

It will not be run on it's traditional weekend.

I have accepted a job at my old university at the tv/radio station there, which I am starting on July 13th. In the short term, I must focus on completing my probationary period and getting settled in to it. The benefits of taking the job are massive - pay rise, excellent benefits, and a fixed schedule (WITH WEEKENDS OFF!).

What this means for the Kyoto 500 (and NDR events as a whole): It should restore my motivation once I get settled in, and allow me the confidence to schedule events again without worrying if I'll have the days off work.

Please, keep notifying of your interest. I will consider October as a time to run a Kyoto 500 if conditions warrant.
Possibility of a 2015 Kyoto 500?

After a decent turnout for the Kyoto 250, I was indeed pleased by how many did turn up. I wish there was more competition to get in, but the race on the whole was quite pleasing.

I cannot guarantee that the 2015 Kyoto 500 could be run on its traditional dates, but I would like to try running one if there is enough interest.

Please indicate if you are interested and willing to run it. It will keep its traditional format of Saturday+Sunday qualifying and following Saturday race. I know there are lots of summer holiday things going on, please also let me know when there might be big national happenings. Such as if there's a big Finnish holiday weekend/week where all Finns go to sauna, then afterwards drink and eat a Finnish delicacy....and also let me know where I can go to partake in such happenings!

I also may have to dump the practice sessions requirement, as they may not be as bountiful as in past.

I should also advertise that part of the uncertainty as to the actual dates is due to the fact that I have an application at a new job in the works...I interviewed there this past Thursday, and will hear within a couple weeks if I am offered the job. It would free my weekends again, should I get it, and also provide me more money. It would require me to move elsewhere, but that would be a non-issue once done!

Anyway, let me know if you are interested!

Quote from Storm_Cloud :Come on Bradley - same again please in Argentina.

I wonder if you can change numbers mid season? Would be funny if one of the Brits raced as 82 this weekend.

Rofl

I would get a significant chuckle out of that if it happened!

You may use the setup exe for the game and extract the dds folders to your installation folder. It functions as a self-extracting archive.

Beware though, that if you are modifying the car models themselves (ie the VOB files) that cannot be discussed on this forum. If you are just changing the texture files (the DDS files) then that is legal.

The big problem is getting and keeping participation levels at a reasonable level. There ARE enough people still racing to provide a full grid, but right now it seems as if everyone is hyper-focused on one, maybe two cars/formats, and while they may try a series when it starts, they'll abandon it, and it will cascade into others abandoning the season as the numbers dwindle.

I'm not sure how the new Westhill has affected the community as yet, only time will tell. It feels to me, however, that the newness has worn off and people are just going to the new track when they have the time spare, instead of making the time. Of course it's nearing end of terms for schools, work is still in swing, and activity may spike up in the summer.

I look foward to some more progress on the Developer's side, I get the feeling that they are invigorated after getting a major project finally finished, so I hope that it's the kick and refresh they need to go back to full steam. I would reckon the new tyre physics and whatever else might come at that time would be a good boost possiblity to LFS.

Sadly, those who were here in the past have gotten older: More responsibilities, more activities, more choices. That old core is possibly gone forever, as cycles would allow and require. I think there will need to be a "reset" back to simpler, shorter league races to bring the new racers in. Not necessarily back to the LFSBC series, but MiniFBM/LX Challenge/TBO Challenge are all simple, easy events that can be knocked out in around 90 minutes or less, start to finsh, which is a simple time commitment that might be easier than the 2+ hours you have to spare to do LFSCART or GTWS or the other major series. Those series are also more tuned to the fun and pure racing aspect and need less direct admin involvement to run, and give people a great way to spend an hour and change without too much stress or significant thought to race well.

As is known now, NDR are not organzing leagues at full force, just standard one-offs and other events as needed while the LFS community limps along.

GTWS will always be one that is a high candidate for revival at any time, though.

Surely implementing localisation into the site for users would be beneficial? A user puts in their location/timezone and the site automatically displays time in their local time zone. On input, can say what TZ you're inputting, and then when you submit it is converted and stored in the db as UTC.

NDR lists all events officially as UTC/GMT, but will sometimes also state the time in other common timezones to aid (such as CEST/BST/EDT)

Thanks to all for participating in the 2015 Kyoto 250! I'll work on a few more stats over the coming weeks, but I do believe without hesitation that that is the closest finish in Kyoto 250 history!

Quote from valiugera :Scawen, i have one idea. New objcets is very good, pit stop, start point but why you not make pit speed line limiter? I mean 80km/h zone in pit. Sorry for may bad English. Smile

He is planning to make that it seems, but does not seem to have the time before they want to make this official:

Quote from Scawen :I'm interested in (possibly) adding "checkpoints" or something to mark the start and end of a custom pit lane with speed limit in future but there's no way can I do it in such a short time.

Quote from Keling :Some cars are not available on the Kart layout, throwing "XXX can't be used on this configuration" errors. Why?

It has mentioned before by Scawen: Some cars would not fit in the pitlane/grid, that's why. ( Please confirm this though )

Though you can use them with open configuration

This is correct, there would be cars spawning on top of each other on these configurations default pitlane. You may defeat the restriction with open configurations + custom grids

Oh, that was leftover from last year - Mr. Diaz had led the most laps going into 2014's edition, but Robin overtook him that year

Here's the pole lap and the last lap of the 2nd Twin 115-mile qualifying race run on Saturday, 28th March.

Unfortunately, there won't be a live stream of the event this year, but I'll work on highlights ASAP after the race. Enjoy these couple videos in the meantime!

Quote from pmw :Why XRG/RB4/XRT/FXO/RAC/FZ5 are disabled on WE4 (gokart track)?
I understand formulas, but especially XRG, it's really great on tight track like that. And no problem with TBOs either.

Why are cars even disabled by the game, you can drive rallycross with formula, but not drive XRG on gokart track?

I believe the larger cars are disabled because they'd spawn on top of each other when drivers exit the pits. When that happens, there's some nasty business that happens.

@cargame: I'm not sure it's fully back yet, but on my Airio, I manually added the new WE configs to my Airio.tcd.txt file, and when i do !node on WE2 and WE4 (the two I tested) I got sensible nodes, I'm not sure where it would pull from otherwise, unless it just reports to you what it sees in an NLP
