Heart says Alfa, always wanted one, sensible head says MG....

Edit : according to Parkers, the MG is about £1000 overpriced?

Yes, the Alfa's reliablity is a worry, and yes, the IS is a bit thirsty.

Just not sure I could go for an MG, What car don't give them a glowing writeup

Call me a car snob, but I just don't like the whole BMW / AUDI "aura"

Come to think of it, I may have made a freudian slip, I think its a PAF filter!!!!
Yet ANOTHER what car thread

Sorry fellas, I know, ANOTHER what car thread.

Long story short, my 307 is fecked, gonna cost £600-£800 to get running properly again, showing "Anti pollution fault" error on the MFD and is seriously lacking in power, struggles to get over 30mph, apparently its due to a "FAP" filter, and some sort of cerium (?) fluid refill (£30 a litre!!!).

I have £4000, and could do with buying a car this weekend, ideally I want a 4 door saloon/hatch, something a bit "different" and reliable.

I have found, within budget, a 2002 Lexus IS200 with 85'000 miles, or a 2004 Alfa Romeo 156 1.9JTD with 90'000 miles on it.

So the choice is between those two, or anything else than can be suggested, I'd prefer not to get a BMW or Audi .

Needless to say I'm not connected to the story and I'm only playing it because I find the whole atmosphere breathtaking, partly thanks to the sense of scale of the huge ME universe.

The codex holds a great deal of information on the ME universe, also, the ME wiki has a stack of info

Quote from G!NhO :Because it's awesome, and if you are skiing you won't get cold or wet because you are active.

You guys are just pussy's.

There are a couple of types of wet I want to get while I am on holiday, and none of them involve skiing!!!.

I work hard all year, I want 2 weeks in the sun doing f' all , the most strenous activity I get up to on holiday is snorkelling, or diving, and even then its slowly

Daybreakers

While its not the best film ever made by a long chalk, and inspite of having a (arguably) star studded cast, has some iffy acting, its not a "bad" film.
While a bit pedestrian, and it never really gets going, I quite liked the interesting spin on the vampire genre, and it was quite atmospheric.

The Box

My god, I think we spent the whole film going WTF, typical Richard Kelly film, trying to be too clever for his own good, and still riding on the back of the success of Donnie Darko.
First half was quite interesting, threw up a few morel dillema's, by asking "what if", then it all went to shit and descended into some kind of close encounters of the third kind vs cocoon, I almost expected to hear "dur ner ner ner ner"!!!!
Not a bad film, but boy oh boy, it'll blow your brain!.

My sisters keeper

Very good film, emotionally draining, Cameron Diaz and Abigail Breslin's acting was brilliant.

Quote from MAGGOT :How deep is the character customization and action consequence mechanic? Does it have a large effect on the outcome of the game (squad deaths aside), or is it just little details that change?

IMO, not overly deep, there is a single story thread, and although things change, you still follow the same story thread, although, I am lead to believe that towards the end of the game, squad deaths are permenant.

Customization is fairly limited IMO

It does get better the further you get into it though.

Quote from Jakg :I don't like making decisions and if I get suggestions / comments it helps to reduce the decisions I have to make, which is why i've led you on a merry dance over the last 14 pages...

No shit Jaky boy!!!!.

I dread to think how you are going to be in later life when you have some real decisions to make!

Good luck on the car hunt, its been a heck of a journey

Quote from CoolColJ :
Only thing I'm not keen on is the excessive bloom in the 2nd Crime scene chapter in the demo. I don't think there will be settings to reduce the bloom though

Can't say I noticed any excessive bloom, you mean the case when the FBI guy has the "HUD / Matrix" style glasses?

After seeing the videos, I was a little bemused at how to feel about this one, but I managed to score an early demo last week due to completing their web game.

Its a genuinely unique experiance, oozes atmosphere, and even though the combat is exclusively QTE driven, its genuinely exciting and gets the blood pumping.

All in all, HR would have been a pretty brave PC release, but considering its a console release, its very, VERY brave.

Not sure how it will sell, but I think its one of those gaming experiances that everyone needs to try, seems to set new standards for atmosphere, story telling, and providing a genuine "movie quality" feel to it.

Quote from Boris Lozac :And i'm only mocking you two cause there were comments like "my PS3 is collecting dust" etc... when there are some genuinely fantastic games..

And it was collecting dust, for years, untill Demons Soul's, I've said it in many places, Demons Soul's is worth buying a PS3 for.

Which is crazy when you think its never had a European launch.
