Strange metric AND imperial fuel consumption readout

So I picked up my car on Saturday, and was shocked to see it was using 10.7 litres per 100km, which I assumed was the standard form of metric fuel consumption, which equates to about 25mpg!!!.

On further inspection, it seems the figure is actual 10.7 litres per 100 miles , which is about 45mpg (much more like it).

Anyone know why there would be a strange mixture of metric and imperial units in this reading?

Seems a bit odd to me, can't see any way to change it to mpg either.

The old nature vs nuture argument, been rumbling on for decades, doubt there will even be any resolution of it.

There are obviously a certain set of hardcoded genetic parameters in all of us, but they are just the building blocks, how far they permiate into our "personallity" in later life is something thats up for debate, and has been for a dogs age.

Quote from ATC Quicksilver :Good point, I remember a case where twins had been seperated at birth each having no idea they had a twin. When they found out and met each other it turned out they had lead almost identicle lives. I can't remember what program I saw it on though, probably Horizon or something like that.

Considering both twins are from the same set of cells, its not that suprising.

Quote from Mazz4200 :Yep, there's a gene for everything these days. A god gene, a stupid gene, a lazy gene, a selfish gene, a narcissistic gene, an "I-ain't-got-no-money" gene, a "when the bloody hell is the next LFS patch gonna arrive" gene...a you-gene.

It's all a load of pants, if you ask me.

Don't forget the "fat gene"

These days, there are certain terms that have been battered out of shape, no longer represent the gravity of the term and terms that people just look for an excuse to use.

Two of these are "racisim" and "bullying", and it doesn't take much to give certain people an excuse to pull either of these cards.

Lets look at "racism".

Quote :Racism is the belief that race is a primary determinant of human traits and capacities and that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race. Or, on the opposite side, racism can be described as the belief that a certain race or races portray undesirable characteristics. In the case of institutional racism, certain racial groups may be denied rights or benefits, or get preferential treatment.

Now, the above is a "dictionary" statement describing the term, I DO NOT in any capacity believe that someone describing someone as "the black guy" even approaches the defination of racism.

Describing someones physical attributes IS NOT racist.

However, if the OP suggested that the "black guy" was slow, and some how indicated that him being black was in someway related to his slowness, or job performance, this can, and will be, classed as racism.

My reasons against auto are almost purely down to the running costs, when comparing like for like (exactly the same engine), its hard to justify.

MG ZT Auto - 40mpg - £235 a year tax

MG ZT Manual - 48mpg - £155 a year tax

May not sound a lot, but if you do 20'000 miles a year, it adds up

Not only that, but I feel very much out of the equation when driving an auto, like you have less control, with a manual you just have that control over gear and revs that you just don't get in an auto.

Brought a car this afternoon.

2006 Mazda 6 TS2 diesel, it has the 147bhp engine which swung it, 6 speed box, climate, TC, cruise, 6 disc changer all the normal trinkets, quite high mileage at 80K, but it has one owner, all the service history, reciepts etc, so its been well looked after.

Paid a bit more than I wanted to at £5350, but it was a good deal

We had a Rover 75 CDTi as a pool car a few years ago, and from what driving I did in it, it felt fine, yeah, it does feel very "olde worlde", but thats part of the charm for me, especially with the "trinkets" of the MG bits, sort of a strange combination of "pipe and slippers" and "just ramraided a halfords shopfront and all the bits stuck to it" which I find quite appealling!!!.

Yes, the Mazda 6 is another option I've been looking at, unfortunately, everyone within a reasonable distance has mega miles on it.

Well, that was a wasted afternoon, at least I didn't drive 100 miles this time round to look at the sheds.

The Passat was not only overpriced for what it was, but externally the bodywork was a bit ropey, scratches and dents all over it.

Off to look at an MG ZT tomorrow.......fingers crossed.........

Makes no difference, you paid for what you got when you paid for it, not future development.

It was announced it was PLANNED, there was never a PROMISED release date.

Personally, you should be happy that you'll get it at all as a free update, rather than complaining that its not here yet.

I am personally disheartened with the development with LFS, which is why I haven't driven it in months, BUT, I got WAY more out of it than I paid for, both in terms of free addons and improvments and pure "wheel time".

I just get a bit peeved when people pull the "we paid so we should get" card.

Race what you've got, or play something else, its that simple, the core of the game stays the same.

Quote from Dac :Why? People have paid for LFS and are dedicated to seeing it prosper. People are complaining because they were promised updates that have not materialised in over a year. They have a right to complain this is a public forum where people are supposed to publicise their views (within reason) openly. If you don't like hearing peoples opinions then you go and do something else. Simple.

You paid for LFS as it was in its state it was in when you brought it, you don't pay for any future development.

IMO, you only have the "right" to complain if there was something fundementally wrong with the product you paid for at that time.

Updates and improvements are a BONUS not a requirement or neccesity.
