Potential frame rate issues?

Quote :Speaking to the new issue of PSM3 magazine in a must-read 10-page GT5 feature, Yamauchi said that frame-rate was a "major issue for us in GT5".

Everything that has happened with GT5 so far, points to the fact that the game that the dev team WANT to make is not only EXTREMELY time consuming, but also, technologically to advanced for current hardware.

I am all for pushing the envelope, but you've got to draw the line somewhere.

Its clear that when GT5 is released, it will be a pared down version of the dev teams original vision.

Quote from Luke.S :yeah but really how many people have a blu-ray drive on their pc let alone one that can record blu-rays. Probably a few hundred in the world and i bet not many of them have a ps3 and / or are pirates

You could/can get BR rips off the net and use them on a USB HDD.....

The cynic in me says its marketing spin, but it sorta makes sense, releasing it running on an older SDK would have meant that GT5 would have been open to copying.

I believe SDK350 has a different encryption system.

Production issues, in more depth....

Quote :The problem arose when SCE mandated SDK 350 on all games releasing after after October, GT5 was about to go gold running on SDK 341, but it has been delayed by around a week so that they can update to SDK 350. This has caused a big headache for the manufacturing side, given how big this game is missing the gold date by even a week can cause a months worth of delay as slots are already taken up at this time of year for Blu-ray movies and such. So Sony had to find a 3 week slot big enough to make 7m+ copies of this and get them shipped out.

If you want to blame anyone, I would direct it at the pirates and hackers, SCE never had any real SDK restrictions before firmware 3.41 was compromised..

Reuteurs are citing production issues, either way, they have probably known it wasn't going to hit 2nd Nov for a little while.

Game requires graphics card with Shader Model 3.0 support so that's probably the problem.

FFS, oh well, better change my holiday days I'd booked off in anticipation for its release!!!!.

Thought it was a bit iffy when nothing had been mentioned about it going gold with only 3 weeks till release......

Quote from Dygear :I claim crap on that, with it being this close to release they must of already pressed the disks, there is no going back now.

For that to happen, it would have gone gold, nothing has (of yet) been reported of GT5 going gold.........

Russian date was reported to have slipped to Late Nov/Dec yesterday, rumblings started appearing today that this delay was for Europe too (UK, NL, DE)

But like I said before, its all rumour at the moment, but given the history of the title, who knows.....

Nothing is 100% confirmed yet, so it could all just be rumour....

Oh dear.......according to various sources, certain chains (HMV in the UK being one), in the UK, Germany and Netherlands are reporting that release date has been pushed back till end Nov / beginning Dec.......

I seriously hope this is wrong.

I get texture issues, must be a problem with my GFX card,

Lets hope so eh?, however, tis a bit late in the day, surely they'd have had the localization wrapped up this close to release, but then again, what do I know.....

I see GT5's release in Russian has been delayed by "a few weeks", I truely hope this is just a localization problem, and doesn't affect the rest of the world.
It is a bit odd considering just how close the release is, I'd have assumed that the game has already gone gold and not very far away from being sent to the pressing plants, if it already hasn't.....

To me, this is like most Blackbean games, at the budget end of the market, hence I tend to wait till they (invaribly) get heavily discounted.

I had brought every incarnation of their SBK games (all for around £10) and V8 supercars NC, like WRC, these are ultimately budget games, however, it does not stop them from being fun.

The WRC demo was quite fun, graphically pretty poor, but the physics are fun enough to warrant a playthrough.

Quote from Dajmin :The online functionailty and community will make or break it for me. There's never that many people in FM3 online, and the ones who are tend to be a little... cold. Yes, I suck. But that doesn't mean they have to totally blank me.

If prologue was anything to go by it will be the normal.....

I am a bit of a "scatter" gamer, I'll play something to death for a while, then drop it and play something else, then come back it at a later date, I guess I have a bit of a short attention span!.

I am also a bit of a horder too

How many?, not many, but TBH, I couldn't find a simple way to seeing what, where, and how much stuff I had on my PS3, so the simplest option was £22 for a bigger drive.

xbox is a little different as any game install is completely optional.

TBH, I really couldn't be bothered downloading, deleting, re-downloading, I want to "game" with the minimum of effort, I want to turn it on, and play what I want, when I want, anything that adds any time to this (i.e. re-downloading DLC, or installing / download software updates) is a REAL turn off, my time is a premium, therefore anything I can do to ease this, I will do.

If I wanted to pee-ball around downloading patches and installing shite, I'd still be playing PC games!!!!

GT5 install (for optimum performance) is 10GB, if you are using your PS3 for JUST GT5, then 40GB will be enough.

If you decide to get other games (many / most?) require an install, so you can quite quickly fill a 40GB drive, I only have a handfull of PS3 games, and my 40GB drive only had 8GB free left..

Good news is, replacement HDD's are dirt cheap (£22 for 250GB)

Yeah, was a bit of an effort though, most of the effort was down to me not having a USB device big enough to backup onto, and then finding one big enough, then realising that the PS3 will only see a FAT32 drive, and the one you've got it NTFS.......got there in the end though, 250GB installed for £20ish.

The one thing that PISSES me off about the PS3 is the amount of times, and how much time it takes, to updated the dashboard software.

God, could you just imagine if it got delayed? LOL.

I am ready for it to hit now, 250GB HDD installed, after a fashion, bring it on.

Anyone buying the furiously over-priced collectors edition?
