I reckon we need a mod to come along and clean out all of the GT5 fanboy trolling from this thread. Could probably get it back down from 45 pages to about 12 I'm not a fan of goatse or smashing myself in the face with a mallet - I don't go to forums about these things to tell the people how wrong they are to enjoy it.
I love the Forza physics. It might not be totally 100% true to life (and I have no real-life experience of racing cars so I can't compare), but it's believable. Of course there are the inevitable joypad-assists but that's because 100% of 360 owners have pads while much less than that have wheels.
I stuck a rear spoiler on my GX8 this morning to try and tame the back end (yeah, it needed it after all) and was surprised by how light it made the front of the car feel - as a result I started understeering. That's the kind of subtle effects that I really appreciate.
I can't decide which car I like best. I keep buying new ones, speccing them up and then deciding it's better than the last one. Right now I'm liking the G8 though, and it's unusual enough to be interesting. Need to have a go at skinning it.
It's the outside of the track along a straight, I assume they just don't expect much to happen there. And reading the article that danowat posted, you'll (hopefully) understand why they've cut corners in some places.
Shocking that something with a more powerful graphics card would be able to put out more impressive graphics, though. Last thing anyone would expect
Yes, those trees are definitely not high polycount
Anyone else noticed an issue with the Lambo Reventon in cockpit view? On mine every so often the digital dials get big purple bars across them. It clears up quickly but not sure what's going on. I wasn't sure if maybe that car was known for weird glitches and they added them for authenticity
So far this is all that's been discussed (according to my WIP rulebook):
- Cars must be 4-door sport saloon models.
- Using FM3's Performance Index rating, cars must be no higher than B-Class (B500).
- Cars must only use RWD drivetrains.
- Slick tyres are not permitted.
Sharing one setup has yet to be investigated and skins will be up to the individual. Any specific changes will need to be looked into, especially regarding car models - I reckon we have too many Yank makes right now so could use a few others from elsewhere
Sounds like you're taking the idea pretty seriously. You planning on going outside of the LFS community for racers then?
Nothing in the leagues sub-forum section specifies the events must take place inside LFS and it would keep it in one place, but obviously if you're planning on getting non-LFSers on board then that's maybe not so great
Wasn't the Lotus Carlton on the cards for this as well? That's the one I started skinning, although I've not tried the others yet.
I wasn't sure about creating a new topic just for the league idea in case it was considered overkill on the Forza 3 front. Could always take it to the Leagues sub-forum I guess, despite not being in-LFS
I guess it'll have to be done in terms of actual driving rather than just the numbers. The torque rating on the Lexus is much better than the M5 there, but that doesn't mean it's any better to actually drive.
Can't you set it up so that only some parts of the setups can be changed? So locked gear ratios and ARB settings, but tyre pressures and diff settings could be modded. Could be wrong, as I said, I haven't done any online stuff yet.
And figure out how points will be distributed too. And then tell me what stuff you want tracked on the spreadsheet - I already have name, total points, race positions, best laps and race points. Not that I'm a stat junkie or anything.
I guess I should start thinking about what car I want and get designing a skin. Unless there's going to be rules for those as well I worked out this morning not to go for a Dodge Charger since they don't seem to have any steering wheels.
I do actually like that Lotus Carlton myself. Don't think I've ever actually driven it though - definitely not in FM3.
If the idea of a league is going ahead, I think there needs to be a few more performance criteria - like limiting the power:weight ratio or maybe having a power limit as well as the PI ratings. And banning AWD (except for me since I need all the help I can get)
