I was the same at first but it stopped after a short while. I love LFS with the rift and it revived my love for LFS, really good immersion and love with how effortless it is to use menu's ect in-game.
I agree with you about it seems GTI or GT2 that seems more preferable. As in the numbers that look for racing ect if half the people who spend their time moaning about it here on the forums actually went to race online the numbers would be great, the same goes for those that complain about the scirroco like its much needed yet they have not even driven all current cars and will complain no matter what.
I think one thing we can get from this and that is the love for liveforspeed is present which is evident from the amount of people that are still here on the forums waiting for something to happen
I only stated a fact about regarding something that you stated, its who i am and nothing meant on a personal level also a truth cannot be discredited! So many moan about the state of licensed online racing yet no-one understands that if everyone tried to do something about like going online it would not be an issue
If nothing gets said when you join a server with people on it then start a conversation
You're taking one bad experience(LFSW shows it as once it has happened within past 6 months) and saying that defines s2-s3 servers.
I am giving facts based on our servers and personal experience on them
Also if you would of read my previous post you would see that i said "Remember some are content with doing hotlaps or racing against the computer", which would then make it worth buying for a track that has been "laser scanned" and not a made up non existent track
Remember some are content with doing hotlaps or racing against the computer for the moment also for iracing add all the other cost with that £12 for a track
Also it takes someone simply to get one or two people on a server and it soon gets racers joining. Happens anytime i use our s2/s3 server. No-one seems to want to be the first on a server or they have it set to hide empty servers
IPV6 is just bad for online gaming no matter the game. From Battlefield 4 and Fornite BR and STW along with others i have played, using IPV6 results in an unstable connection in the way of packet loss + fluctuating ping
As soon as its changed to IPV4 its stable and low ping
"if you have IPV6 turned on, DNS lookups are 2 to 3 times slower than with IPV4. That's why it seems as if your computer has "trouble connecting" to web sites. When you initiate a connection to any site, the first thing it does is look up the IP address in DNS.
DNS lookups are slow on IPV6 for several reasons.
First, DNS is currently handled in serial, not parallel. The IPV4 lookup is always handled first, then the IPV6, so it takes at least twice as long.
Second, because the IPV6 lookups are less frequent, they are not cached as often on the DNS server, causing further delay."
Also IPV6 is not supported by either many ISP's or as you say possibly the gaming servers
have you given the current and previous versions of LFS any chance. I do not mean it in a bashing stats sense and not as any type of attack, but you have been a part of LFS for a very long time but it would seem you gave up as soon as you tried
@back on topic
Looks great, i agree with some of the other opinions, being that a system of either just Night or day would be sufficient
And what do you base your opinion on if you do not own s3 or even s2 ?
@OP - Quite a bit of work went into making the rockingham track such as being laser scanned,so if you want something that is based on a real life race track and something that is graphically much much better than the other available tracks (except blackwood + westhill) then its worth the investment.
I have hardly raced on it but thats only due to sticking to one track at a time so i can improve my times then i will be shifting my focus onto it
It can be seen that the developers are working on updating some of the current tracks which means there is a possibility of other additional content which could be released as s3 licensed content]
looks good, may i make one suggestion? add a little contrast, not too much so it keeps the effect of the glow enough for the where its supposed to be dark to be darker
Id suggest reinstalling LFS, does it delete your full driver profile so it ends changing your racer name to unnamed. If so its obviously something deleting your driver profile from the lfs/data/misc folder, do you use CCLEANER or any other junk removal tool that could be causing it
The thing is apart from IRACING which i have not played i can say that a.c and pcars do not yield much numbers in terms of players
Im still happy on lfs after 8+ years and if you check 9/10 racers stats they have/did not even give the current content a fair try, A few people get put off due to the fact that they get kinda lost in one of LFS great features and that is the setups and for some the main settings for the controller and as they cannot get insta good like NFS it stops entertaining them
In lfs then options set your wheel degrees to what you find best, if its fbm for example i set to 400 or 450 degrees, and set wheel turn compensation to 0(my preference).
I am unsure if your wheel will use the brake and gas as a combined axis or not which you will need to check in the controller options
Where did i comment on you saying it ? If you had read what i had said, then you would of noticed i had taken what you had said regardless of if it was sarcasm or was serious and made a statement about having had others say that in the past. :/
"his overpriced game" - Some have said this in the past but I have had more than my moneys worth from LFS, some of the best fun and met some great people and still after 124433 laps or 332826 miles i still have plenty to learn and plenty of cars/track combo's to conquer. I have got and tried pcars and assetto corsa and yes they are graphically better but they do not have that special something that LFS has which keeps bringing me back
This post hits the nail on the head so to speak. Scawen accepts most things to be discussed aslong as the discussion is in the correct way without people resorting to insults and disrespecting others
Using EBAY is not a bad option if you make sure to only buy from sellers with top feedback, I sell darkroom equipment on there occasionally and also purchase stuff often without problems
LOL . We pay for our licenses along with pay to provide servers for others to use so it is rightfully not wanting such people to ever have the chance to use our servers
I understand that some people are unable to afford to buy licenses due to genuine hardships and i honestly do feel for them but it does not give someone the right to essentially steal money from the game developers by providing cracked servers
A rift DK2 is sufficient enough and cheap enough for most to use for racing sims, using the debug tool you can up the PPDP - Pixels per display pixel which id recommend setting to 2.0 which clears the image quality a lot and they can be picked up for around 120-130 usd or 100 gbp or cheaper
Agree with the need for advertising LFS, The majority of people i race with in PCARS and A.C have not heard of LFS and after checking lfs out they like what they see.
As in terms of numbers of users i would say project cars is not doing so well while a.c is doing not to bad but neither seem to be doing as well as what LFS used to be like
LFS still has the potential to bring in more racers due to there being a demo/free option which then could bring in more licensed racers. The most damaging thing for LFS is the post that always surface of people moaning about new cars or tracks even though they have not given the current available content a chance and currently driven a few of the current available cars and tracks, they would continue to moan regardless of releases
Open up your Logitech Profiler and then the FFB (Force Feedback) settings window: either "Options" - "Global Device Settings" or if you are using game profiles "Edit" - "Specific Game Settings". Suggested settings are these (also shown in the screenshot):
Overall Effects Strength - Set to 101-105% (101% is good value). Due to problems inside the Logitech Profiler the FFB only starts to act linearly when set over 100%. You can always fine tune the level of FFB in LFS's Options > Controls or you can adjust it "on the fly" while driving with the FFB (Force Feedback) shortcut keys.
Spring Effect Strength - Set to 0%. It is Logitech driver based effect and practically LFS does not need this (confirmed by the game developer).
Damper Effect Strength - Set to 0%. It is Logitech driver based effect and practically LFS does not need this (confirmed by the game developer).
Enable Centering Spring / Centering Spring Strength - Uncheck the box (disable it) and set it to 0%.
Report Combined Pedals - Uncheck this option. Enabling this only gives you one pedal axis, meaning you can't use brake and throttle pedals properly. So disable it.
Degrees of Rotation - If your wheel provides this option, set it to the particular car's lock-to-lock angle (LFS lets you see this value in the car setup screen, under "Steering").
Depending on how often you will be changing cars, each car has its own setting or amount of degrees if you want 1-1 steering. For example the FBM is 450 degrees while the xfg is 720 degrees or the BF1 is 400
Do you have the centre spring effect disabled and also set the spring and damper effect strength to 0 in the logitech profiler
il upload some setups and send you a link when i am back on my pc at home
Sounds more of an issue on the network adapter possibly just the settings if it has any, and if it lacks any settings to adjust you can either do them via the registry if you're confident or download speedguides tcp optimizer
Quite possible that the network adapter is still going into a sleep or low power mode among other things
