Perhaps it came off more evil than I intended it to be. But I believe it still is a good tactic towards some very irritating people out there.

Anyway, I do try to educate people more. There will always be the people who want it all ready, served in their plate, and if I'm around, I'm probably trying to get them to think.

Example:

(During quali) - How many laps are in this race?
(Someone) - 8
(Someone else) - 8
(Me) - F12

However, sometime this behavior _did_ once return back to me in a rude way:

(Some time before RACE_S setups)

- Anyone got a setup? I'm having trouble handling this car.
(me) - Here's a tip, go download the easy race setups. You will find they are a good starting point.
- Did anyone ask you to be a smartass? Mind your own business!

I have to say that before patch U, I was encountering some crashes. Specifically, once in a while, the sound would start looping (resembling that Apple MacOSX audio echo bug), and then the whole universe would crash. I would not even be able to start another 3D application after that and had to reboot. This tended to happen either in-race or when I was exiting from the race and going back to menus.

Now I didn't mind too much because I considered that a feature; it was the only way that I could stop racing and start doing some work or get out and socialize. (And plus, I was really too lazy to file a bug report to the devs :owl: ).

But, since patch U, I have never encountered any crash and everything is rock solid stable!

So, good job!!
"How Much Fuel" Questions upon joining a race

It's not really that annoying to me, but nevertheless I have an idea I'd like to share with you.

Remember these people that, right upon joining a track, ask "how much fuel"?

Well, I probably should be the last person on earth to point them out that:

1) Fueling up a bit more in order to be in the safe side, like 30 or 40%, isn't going to make that much of a difference in performance, unless you are a driving master, and if you were a master, you wouldn't be asking this question anyway.

2) Making one lap, just one lap, will provide the F12 display with the fuel percentage per lap. Even if it is a pit out lap, it will be in the range of +-1%, so it pretty much gives an idea.

However, I've come up with an idea. Whenever someone asks how much fuel, I reply to them with the exact amount needed, minus 1 or 2 percent. This way, if they are going to have a go and race all the laps, they will run out of fuel in the last lap, and I will be having my evil laugh afterwards. If anyone else agrees with me, you are invited to do the same.

Whoops I need my ears checked and my english freshened up. Indeed that makes more sense. Thanks Tristan for the correction.

(Not that politicians that live in their own reality aren't out there, unfortunately)

Quote from alzys177 : just found this quote from Jeremy Clarkson on the Pirus, and thought i would share it with you all.......

As much a fan as I am of Jeremy and Top Gear, I can safely say that we can ignore him as far as hybrids or environment-friendly stuff are concerned.

But in last week's brand new episode, it was absolutely hilarious when some environmentalists and politicians "invaded" the Top Gear track. They would make fun of the biodiesel Focus et al and when some sort of minister said that he and Jeremy share the same concerns about the environment, Jeremy said: "That's right sunshine".

One??? Just one????

That would be weather effects for me too. And of course, with the possibility of using live weather from lfsworld. And possibly snow. Or even extreme heat. And changing clouds. And varying light.

The second thing for me would be realistic yellow flags etc. instead of the on-screen message, and two blue flags: one standing and one waving. Other threads have expanded a lot on these issues.

Yes I know that we only get one in this thread. But the second one is a bit simpler so I'm crossing my fingers. :P

P.S. 3rd - 3D sound.

Quote from colcob :The answer to the last question is get her hooked on some girly TV show like Lost or ER, but refuse to watch it yourself.

<offtopic>
Lost is not girly.

(Yes, I am hooked to Lost.)
</offtopic>

I would rather suggest some other crap like Desparate Housewives.

I press "B" like mad.

However, if I'm on the single-seaters, I press F3 which prints out "*honk honk*" to everybody.

Then I'm counting seconds for reactions like "STFU" or "<foo> blocked messages".

Quote from StuntCarRacer :3) Run it on Xvnc

Hmm yes, of course, or even X11. I just skipped this automagically, because of stupid router ACLs between the server and my desktop machine. (And the fact that I would have to restart my X to allow TCP connections )

Will try, though.

Quote from dawesdust_12 :
I wish there was a LFS server liveCD/liveUSB (USB most wise because of CFG files and updated) where you could just go, pop the thing in, and have a linux server with wine and all no sweat.

Nah, I would want the macine to do other stuff as well and not just LFS Dedi.

Since I have experience with Debian packages, I might try to put together a .deb or two that sets up some stuff right away. I don't make any promises, though.

I find that according to:

http://www.winehq.com/site/doc ... sr-guide/config-wine-main

there is no more '.wine/config' configuration file and the winecfg program needs to be used to configure things:

Quote :In the past, Wine used a special configuration file that could be found in ~/.wine/config. If you are still using a version of Wine that references this file (older than June, 2005) you should upgrade before doing anything else. All settings are now stored directly in the registry and accessed by Wine when it starts.

The bad thing for a dedicated linux host is that winecfg works only with a graphic user interface.

Now, I can think of two solutions:

1) Downgrade to an older wine version

2) Install wine to an identical machine with X-Windows enabled, and then copy over the registries files.

However, before I embark on actually doing all this exciting stuff (! ) I thought I would try and ask if anyone else can think of some other, cleaner workaround or solution for console-only wine.

Any ideas?

Quote from psy00 :it works ok now for me no crash with greek language , but the first time when you install the patch or the game select english (lfs detect that i'm greek and if i leave it after the configs screens it crashes).
and do a clean install before if possible, that is the right way to report a bug

^^ Exactly the same situation here.

After I applied the patch, started LFS and it entered the initial setup which, when it was about to go to the main menu for the first time, made LFS crash.

I switched to English, got past the initial setup, then back to Greek, and everything works flawlessly ever since. (Excluding the T1 crashes with the BF1 )

I will reproduce it and try to make something out of the Windows debug log.

I would actually like this to be done in all races.

A good idea for Kyoto would be to place some cones alongside the yellow line, because where the yellow line starts / ends sometimes is not distinguishable.

So, asumming it _were_ legal, would you actually buy one?

It is extremely humorous for us Greeks when we hear the name of this new team.

Wanna know why?

"Aguri" (Αγγούρι) in greek means ....

cucumber

Can't wait for the commentators saying something along the lines of... "And the super cucumber takes the lead..."

The irony is that it only allows 50 game launches. If I were to launch this demo 50 times, then I would probably shoot myself.

And not in the foot.

Well, my old favorite was Super Cars - and Super Cars II, on the Amiga. Wow, it's all about memories today, someone else reminded me of Hard Drivin' and I remembered 4D Sports Driving.

Super Cars apart from the weapons also had very interesting tracks.

ANW, I tried this Crash Day thingie. The fighting with guns part didn't impress me and I found it a bit boring, it is just like Quake Arena with cars, with the exception that Quake Arena is a good game. Super Cars on the Amiga was more exciting I think. The online game would not connect to master server. The stunts thing (sans weapons) was a bit interesting for 1 minute and then it got a bit boring. The graphics are awesome and the tracks and layouts are very, very impressive. The rest of the mini-games, of which there are videos, are also boring.

Conclusion: ARCADE GAMES CONTINUE TO SUCK.

I'm using XMMS and Beep Media Player in Linux, and mp3 streams can be written to disk using the Options -> Input Plugins -> MP3 Plugin page.

I suspect the same thing is available in Winamp as well.
