what is the password?

If you ask me, "+1" is a pretty stupid password.

I think it is, except for some cases where it is not.

Victor, by any chance did you change it by now? Because FYI I just tried on my laptop, also Ubuntu Linux, where I have some additional fonts installed, and it works.

Quote from Victor :Looks like it didn't find the font. I'll try making it Arial like the rest

Let me add that the font in alerts (the ones that pop up in the centre, such as when you double-click a host that requires a spec pass) might need changing too.

Well, at least for Linux users and their crappy Flash player that doesn't fall back to other fonts like it should.

May I also suggest:

- Passengers puking under excessive g-forces.

- Middle-finger to be used on cruise servers.

- Extend arm outside of window as a wave movement. And if there's a crash with another car, the arm could be cut off and lie on the track, while the driver bleeds and screams from pain.

Hm, works almost fine in Ubuntu Linux and both:

- Firefox 2
- Opera 9.5 Alpha

and flash plugin ver. 9,0,21,55.

And I say "almost", because the only issue I found was the text log on the top left not apearing. It seems like a white-on-white color, and/or a font not being found.

I can even mark some text (the black "invisible" text). I just can't see it.

Other than that, it worked great!

Apparently, this is a very exciting sport.

Is that spectator in the back reading a newspaper?

Quote from tristancliffe :The only thing to be aware of is that cars from a left hand drive country tend to have the indicator/light stalk on the left, and that is carried over to reduce costs when converted to RHD. In cars from RHD countries (Japan, UK, States) it's on the right. This is to do with ease of signalling whilst steering and changing gears, and is what most people 'get wrong' when changing cars. Of course, it only means you wipe your windscreen instead of indicating, and flash people instead of washing your windscreen, so usually isn't too serious

lol!!

In any case, the first time I drove a RHD car in the UK, I got used to it immediately.

Well, when I say immediately, I mean after I first did a turn in an intersection. Because, on the first time, after I turned, I placed my car on the right side of the road, and took the oncoming cars by surprise.

But I mean it seriously, after the first turn you'll be fine.

Uhm, may I make a point?

LFSWorld already has information about teams! And its API already supports retrieving the teams list & team members.

So, all that there is to it, is the admin of a team keeping the members list up to date.

No?

That has already been done, and it was pretty good! Forum & Youtube search FTW

Quote from St4Lk3R :however, I do not know if iconv also supports the HTML-ENTITIES-codepage you talked about in your post.

It doesn't, AFAIK.

Another alternative is the recode extension, which also has some entities-"charsets".

From all these extensions, mbstring, iconv and recode, IMHO the best and safest for UTF-8 stuff, I've concluded, is mbstring. iconv() has some peculiarities in some platforms.

If someone wants to write portable code, there is the 'function_exists()' function to check for existence of these functions/extensions.

Lalala.

Sounds like a job for a simple insim script.

I think some server (CTRA?) has something resembling a fuel calculator already implemented.

Sections? Where?

The name of a server reveals its purpose anyway, what else is there to it?

Quote from Arrow Karts 8 :any ideas?

Run "tcpdump" (as root) in another window / shell, to check if the network request is actually generated by LFS and if there is a response at all.

I upgraded wine to Debian unstable's version as of two weeks ago, I think it was 0.9.51 or 0.9.52. Unfortunately for some reason it didn't seem as stable as the one I was using before that. Servers were starting, but after some time (in the amount of hours, I think) they stopped by themselves without anything informative in the log file.

Then again, it's perhaps the strange way by which I'm starting them up. (I use screen, wineconsole --backend=curses, Start Windowed 0, /dedicated=invisible).

In any case, I've reverted to my favorite stable version: 0.9.34-1 (Debian Unstable). This has been running great and with no problems at all, with uptime of MONTHS for me!
Minor suggestion about Dedicated server, for console-only users

I was running dedicated server via wine in a Linux host with no X-Windows, using the command wineconsole --backend=curses LFS.exe.

Upgrading to Patch Y failed mysteriously for me. I was wondering why. In the end, I did ssh X forwarding and found out that /autokick=spectate should have been renamed to /autokick=spec in patch Y.

The actual problem for me was that this error message about wrong /autokick parameter was only shown in a Windows alert dialogue, and not in the console output.

So my suggestion is, if it's possible, to output some or all of these messages, notifications etc. to stdout / console, too. I think it would be useful to us Linux / wine dedi admins.

Quote from Scrabby :ive played the game allot , but were can i buy it?

I got it for 5 quid from this excellent seller:

http://myworld.ebay.co.uk/gamewholesaleltd

Highly recommended.

You might also have luck on a local electronics / computer store, at their PC games section, at similarly ridiculous prices.

Best value for money ever. (Together with LFS, of course. )
