Quote from speedway :I got a few questions before i start drooling.

1. Why do you use the big and slow ordinary HDD as primary HDD and the uber-fast but small SSDs for data storage?
2. If you decided to run two Nvidia GFXs, why didnt you choose a MB that supports SLI?
3. Why did you choose to buy two GFXs in the first place? Isnt one enough to power the small CRT?
4. Dont you think some money should have been spent on a new monitor instead?

1. I don't know that much about computers.. Normally people just go on and on about how big and fast it can be and somewhere in there I just zone off to my happy place as I cannot understand nerd for one minute.

2. Isn't SLI Three way? I don't really understand.. But it's damn powerful!

3. Because I just "Use" A CRT monitor, I have four 22" Monitors in the closet in my room, But i prefer 1154x864 way better.

4. Not really.
2. I think he meant you should get a SLI capable motherboard if you want SLI, otherwise you only have.. 2 GPUs. They`re not working "together".

It`s like having 2 ATI gpus on a Nvidia SLI capable motherboard: a bit(ok, more) of a fail. You should sue the person that put together that computer, being in the US and all.

SLI means two or more all the way up to 4 (6 theoratically) Nvidia's GFX cards working together to share all the rendering job etc.

Bad luck with your motherboard is.. well let me quote one review of it:

Quote :
One thing this board does not support currently is NVIDIA's SLI configurations, which is their multiple GPU solution for improving game performance. Three-way Crossfire is supported as well as ATI's CrossfireX with two 4870 x2s, but though virtually every X58 board supports SLI this one does not. In fact every ASUS X58 motherboard except this one supports SLI.

Basically your two GFX cards are just two individuals atm and not working together at all. Unless you keep all those 4 CRT's connected at the same time, your second card has no use and it's just there to idle and eat your wattage

Shoulda slap whoever build your pc, unless it was you yourself
We learning by mistakes don't we

Some of you lads have way too much money on your hands
Quote from -NightFly- :Some of you lads have way too much money on your hands

It's just where people lay their priorities...
Some people buy such PC's because they like to run crysis 3x at the same time, and others just to show off I guess. Like a 50" TV with a i7 980X and 3 5970's, all they play is LFS (not somewhere here, but you get my point). I think it's a waste of money, certainly in the electric bill...
so, just because someone has a bigger or better system than you, you tell them it's a waste of money. i don't think anybody runs 3 crysis' on the same system (you're just being stupid). it's not you who bought the stuff and you have no idea what else the pc is being used for. so why is it a waste of money that isn't yours?
Bose, you're starting to sound like a broken record. sort it out man.

He has a point, some people buy/daddy buys epic computers just because they want to show off with it. He wasn't talking about all the people in the world

I don't really understand what you're pointing at here, The electric bill here (As far as I know) Does not go up due to the computer/components.

Secondly, Most people are not power hungry, But most people when they buy a game they do expect it to WORK, And that is not at 20 FPS. That is somewhere above 60, 200 - 500 is always decent as it means your computer (Not necessarily) Has power in it's reserves for when shit flips in your game. The only reason maybe you would have it in LFS is just to play it fully with graphics and maybe graphic mods if they are out there (Not calling/naming anyone who does)

For instance, I use my three monitors to A) Render video with Sony vegas 9.0 B) To check email/forums C) Talk to close friends/family and maybe game on this on. It really does work out and I can run crysis 5 times IF I CARED TO But nobody really would just abuse their computer like that, It's pointless.

@ Dadge, I don't think he told anyone it was a "Waste of money" He was just stating a opinion.
I personally fold on my gpus 24/7, so I do notice an increase in the electric bill, but it also makes my investment worthwhile. It's not just sitting there showing off to people, it's helping cure diseases and such. Also on an HWBot team so makes overclocking funner and more significant. Don't have too much time to game anymore because of school and work 5 days a week, but it's great knowing I can play newer games as well! It's not like you buy a computer, it gets used for a year, then it gets thrown away. I've been upgrading this one for awhile now, and I can always sell components or donate them to someone.
