Quote from boothy :

I suppose the implication of antisemitism didn't find you then.
Quote from Bmxtwins :It's because their entertainment/ news are so boring that they need to make fun of us

Or that so many things that the American news and people do are so ridiculous, that it's hard not to laugh at how illogical their decisions are.
Quote from Krane :+ on average 19 000 children die each day, most of them from curable infections and preventable by adequate nutrition (src). "World: 'Meh' "

Talking about the Boston marathon does not mean that none of us care about the other stuff. I don't see you guys starting a thread about any of the other topics. What are you doing to raise awareness about those causes?

Here's my response to you guys who feel the need to say shit like this:

Cool, mandatory work from home day because of the shit that went down in Cambridge and Watertown last night. :|
Yeah..from rusland .....

FOR MOTHER RUSIA!
Well, Chechnya.

Wait till the crazy right-wingers hear it was Russians AND Muslims!
Nop, they are from rusia, near from Chechnya.
No wonder putin offer USA help for arresting bomb attackers, he know it

I reiterate, "World; Meh", still, I have to say, from what I read from the mainstream news, I would've thought the results above would've been in favour of Boston's events 1000x fold.

Clarification, this is in no way meant to disrespect any one who has had personal tragedy related to Boston events, but to every one else thinking 3 people killed and 183 injured (src) is the worst thing to happen since, say, The 2004 Boxing Day tsunami. And I'm not condoning any of this, if it would've prevented the explosions, I would've shot the ****ers in the face myself.

The reason this is so mainstream is that it happened on a damn marathon, one of the worst places you can do it, if it was a government building blown up (without casualties) i'm sure 95% of americans even, wouldn't care. This is just too low..
I don't think you can quantify the scale of a news just by numbers. Natural disaster happens on a regular basis, and brings widespread damage without discrimination: versus odd ball incidents that show a glimpse of trouble inflicted by our supposed civilization and higher believes, the value of these news is almost incomparable.

In fact, even the same piece of news looked at different perspective can yield very different values, if you look at the victim you get a personal battle against odds, but if you look at the suspect you get a cross section of the religious conflict that is shaping world politics on a greater scale. - One perspective will mean more then another depending on what the viewer is after.

Femine , imo is often disregarded because the situation is often a stalemate, with no real progress and change in sight, and people's attention will go away, massive number of deaths will interest the public only for so long, when they realize what they are looking is pretty much a status quo, they get use to it and sometimes, even trivialize it. It's just how human nature are more interested in a state of transition and new discovery - and it makes sense since NEWS is about the current and happening.

Here's a thought, how many people die of old age per day? and why isn't there a mass mourning about it?

Surely you can understand that a standalone, attention-grabbing event like the Boston bombing—particularly because it comes in a place and at an event where it's not expected/common—will get more coverage than an ongoing, generalized issue like "child mortality." Same with rocket attacks in the middle east, etc. When they happen on a routine basis, people get desensitized to it, and it takes a bigger calamity to get it back on the front page.

It's not exactly rocket science.

edit: I guess JJ72 covered the same ground.
Always great to see the same people fight about shit like this.

Thank you, you put it much more eloquently than I could.

Death of natural causes is one thing, killed by the hand of someone else or something is a whole thing another, even more so when it's preventable outside of personal choices.
I really believe that those kids weren´t the bombers...

That's too much racerXnyz for me. My mind just can't accept those conspiracies anymore, I believed in it for a while in case of 9/11, but the amount of stuff you have to set up and number of people to 'pay off' is just too much for me to accept it as a possibility..

Or maybe the media are putting them as supperr ultra mega dangerous terrorists... cmon he's just a kid that made a home made bomb...
I'm saying this because according to CNN there are some specialist analyzing some gifts he sent or received in the Facebook from Russia (VK?) that were TNT's pictures and brick walls... really? wasting your time and calling someone a terrorist or sickminded because he sent those "gifts"?
Also the incomplete videos they show on TV wwhen they arrive at the marathon and leave the marathon...etc etc... im too lazy to name all the irregularities the police and media have been saying.
I agree that a lot of things makes no sense.. They're saying over and over again that the policeman had been killed in MIT, but not saying his name the whole day..

His name has been out there from the get-go. It's Sean Collier.

Speedtv.com even has an article about how he's the brother of one of Jimmie Johnson's crew members. http://nascar.speedtv.com/arti ... -boston-marathon-tragedy/
