Although in the enternal Forza v. GT debate I am a heavy Forza fan, GT5's version of the 'Ring simply pwns that thing they call the Nurburgring in Forza.

From your extensive real world experiance of said track I take it?
I'd have to agree that the ring in FM3 is terrible. I'm not talking about the accuracy even... it's just that it looks so dull and boring. I never got bored of racing on the ring in FM2, but i can count the times i've driven it in FM3 on one hand.
Yea, part of the problem with the Forza version of the Nordschleife is that the start line is that of the tourist track and not even the actual race startline (the one that is on GT4 by the pits of the old circuit).
PD have been busy - Fuji from the GT Academy 2nd round vs the one in Prologue. They're still tweaking tracks, so I don't think the Nurb we've seen so far is the final thing

OMFG, can't believe all of those finalists play with that awfull bumper cam... i can't conclude anything about physics and stuff from that view..

It's just too constricting, when I play to win, I prefer the nose or bumper cam. When I play for fun, and to feel like I'm driving a certain car, I use cockpit.
If I had a big 30+ inch display, and sat right in front of it, yeah cockpit is not too bad. Right now the cockpit view isn't tuned right. The sky gets too bright and gets burned out, while the interior is too dark, unless it's an open top vehicle
asphalt does not look like that unless is wet. Asphalt looks gray in daylight, but they insist in full black with huge sun reflections. Head hurts
Actually, on a well worn track asphalt can look like that in bright sun.
I never seen black asphalt while driving, even videos from youtube i could not find a full black asphalt like that. Many games fail in this respect
That is a gray track. Not black. The sun effect looks close but toned up in gt5...

The contrast is just to big in games. the track very black, the reflection very white.

Ever tried getting the contrast right while filming off a tv? It's not easy.

Having said that, I agree to some extent.
the tone dynamicly changes due to the HDR lighting engine, it depends on which way the sun is facing you.

I took these off a video, so it's a little blurry due to motion blur

High speed ring

I also went back to look at the Fuji video from the CES, and yeap that patchey, rutted ground grass is there and it's 3D, along with the road markings. The grass moves as they cars go past, and bit of debris get chucked up when the cars go over the ground.
Pretty desaturated, but adds to the look

Debris chunks getting thrown up when cars go off track on Fuji
You would think the rest of the tracks in GT5 will be up to this standard

I made an "enhanced" version of the Super GT Fuji vid - Gives a better impression of what GT5 will look like

If you look closely you can see the flowers and grass moving as cars go past, and chunks of debris get thrown up as the cars go off track at 19 secs

Again?

Just forget it guys. Its not coming out.
yeah, lets put rfactor in its place guys , dont hit me.
Never. But it is kept being pushed back to another "later" "unknown" date smarty pants.

Dont cry. You will get it one day...
lol, i'm considering wheather to get it at all. Those last movies from GT finals haven't actually convinced me that the physics are good.. I'm just saying that there was never a release date in the first place.
Pretty old news. Delayed in Japan. No release date yet for the rest of us

New build of Fuji vs GT5 Prologue, if you can't see the differences you need glasses
Much denser and better grass and the white/yellow Dandelions off course, and that curb is actually 3D now and sticks up

does the grass look a little too yelowish green?
In GT5 Prologue, yeah, not anymore

Quite a few changes here - will be interesting to see what else they've done on the other tracks
If Nurburgring gets the same treatment, it'll be freaky!
Because the version of the Ring we have seen dates back to mid 2008, when it was running on the Prologue engine

---

Cloud pattern is different. You can see that the grass is a different shade, and the roughed areas near the curbs. More texture detail in the sand pits. Even that green matting on the curbs is different, plus some more muddy/dirt areas and one new section on far mid left near the railings. On the right side there are more orange bits and a long white structure that appears to go over the road - maybe a track variation - barriers for the chicane

And the extra tyre marks off course

Would you believe they added an extra power line tower on the distant far left mountain?

A few extra trees in that middle, and some are a lot taller than before.
