have to agree with you there. Whenever I see the Aussie servers populated I tend to jump on....
there used to be a nice little group of us who'd meet up every day, attempt to get faster, get distracted and spend ages jumping over barriers, get the giggles and be unable to do anything for 10 mins etc. really complicated with everyones time zones, AJ is from florida, Niles from california (and possibly a different planet), Pat o'hara from sydney and Mathew who after 3 months i discovered lives 4 miles from me ! trouble is life seems to be getting in the way, niles' pc died and he's disappeared (probably in a clinic) AJ;s working silly hours with the launch of the sat tv channel he's working for (won't say what it is but with his past record as a camera man / editor it's either motorsport or porn ) mathew has just disappeared and pat has moved house and for some reason they recon he cant get broadband despite the previous owner having it so he's using a wireless conection off his neighbour.

p.s. pat's a guy with the right attitude, his father died and he was on iracing the night before the funeral
So i bought one month sub.. completely great sim, though i am only rookie. D is waiting for me.
Zdenek Cagas is my name, looking forward to race with you.

Same as me, but raced for few days and got bored, because of lack of free or cheaper content and because of that stupid racing system, I prefer LFS's racing system, you can see a list of hosts and you can join any of them at anytime, you don't have to wait an hour just to race.

Already added to my Friends list!!
I'm Daniel Buck, btw... hahahha

"LACK OF FREE STUFF"??
There is NO free stuff in it AT ALL! lmao
but it's the best sim ever!

You misunderstood a bit, I meant such free stuff as in LFS, you buy a license and just look how much stuff you get. And in iRacing if I wanted to drive in Jetta TDi cup I would need to spend ~50-60$(can't remember how much exactly) and that's quite much, especially for me, when there's a such thing as currency conversion. Imagine if same amount of content would cost ~130$. I admit that 60$ for americans is nothing. Maybe you got what I meant

got it now and you are right!

but iRacing guys bring us some new stuff every three months... LFS didnt change in almost one year!

well...

give iRacing another chance... i already earned 70 bucks [hahahhaa] in credits to spend with anything inside iRacing!
have to agree that in terms of bang for buck LFS walks all over iracing but since i joined i've hardly used LFS just becasue the experience is so immersive and if you look back to when this thread started i was very sceptical about iracing and pretty much swore i'd never pay that much for a sim

Saw you yesterday in solstice practice, I knew your name looked familiar.
It' s annoying that other sims seem so unsatisfactory after just a month's trial of iRacing.

Question is though: how much of this is just the bumps on tracks that give the sense of speed and immersion? After all, this is apparently what Dave Kaemmer said (from the transcript of the iRacing court case against a Nascar Racing 2003 modder):

"The question that was asked of DK was very simple, "How much of the original NR2003 code remains in the iRacing software?"
DK responded with, "I do not know exactly, but I estimate 65% is unaltered NR2003 code"
Tim R's lawyer asked, "So why do you state as little as 1% to the media and on your own site?"
DK responds with, "We tell the public and media a different number"
Tim R's lawyer asked, "Why would you do that?"
DK responds with, "We do not want our customers to know or they may not buy our product".

That said, the cars feel pretty good to me.

But IMO, that quote doesn't inspire confidence nor does it feel good investing in a dishonest, largely money grabbing operation.

But ISI games -dammit- feel like floating on a sheet of ice with not tyre-road contact at all after 1 month of iRacing! And the LFS's developers' precious approach to their sponsored hobby means no realistic chance of tracks of comparable quality before everything is obsolete.

rFactor2? Doubt it.

Agreed, everything thing else is ruined for me despite iR's current shortcomings

Indeed, although I understand their decision. But really, how much of the sim is tire code for example? Most of the public wouldn't realize that the tire models and other parts of the physics were rewritten from almost scratch - how much of the 65% of old code would be things like rendering, sound & interface things and so forth.... it's sort of a moot point that percentage which is why they felt compelled to not be up front about it.

Whatever the case, it's a damn good sim.
I just think Iracing is going places, I think it will get cheaper and more people join and time passes

LFS almost seems dead.. wasnt the VW ment to come out start of this year?

give Iracing a few more years
I've been paying for iRacing for the last 3 months...have played it maybe once.

I think about canceling it but then I decided I'll play it next month

That's the problem. I have lots of games I love but I may not play for month of two because I'm busy or playing other games. But with a subscription you're always paying whether you use it or not.
Yeah I've been in the same situation. I got a year subscription recently and really haven't played in months. Other stuff happening... and then L4D2 came out... and then more other stuff... just played it again tonight for the first time in probably 3 months.
lol, looks like an FWD car under braking
Site down for maintenance, Brands on the way very soon? I hope so
according to the tweet yes brands is in this update

slightly peed off, there were 4 of us in a practice session and they cut it short by an hour despite saying all current sessions would continue to run, still worth it when brands arrives and with the time difference hopefully us europeans will get a chanc eto download it before the us wakes up and swamps the system.

now all thats left is to pray the 24HdF is on the full ciruit and not the indy circuit
The 24HDF will be the IndyCar at Brands Hatch GP. I noticed it on the schedule yesterday evening.
oh good, can't wait to see how many people go off at padock on their first lap and im really looking forward to the run into clearways on the GP circuit.

i assume it'll be a rolling start being indycar which is a pity, was looking forward to seeing everyone loose it at the start on the slope
Do I get it today, or do I wait until Xmas?
I hope that if its on the 24hdf that I can setup a hosted race on it!!!! Hmmm, which car to choose!!!:eclipsee_:clapclap:
