The online racing simulator
I just thought doing this would be good opportunity now before we have seen any of the 2012 cars. It's basically just a guessing game of predictions about 2012. I'll make a summary post 31st day of january of all answers and then after 2012 season we can see who guessed right and ridicule and laugh at those who got it all wrong.

The one who gets most right will get nothing.

I don't even like Ferrari (like, at all). Just have that feeling. :|
FIA has banned the reactive ride height system developed by Lotus. No explanations, nothing but the word that it's banned. It seems like FIA has started actions to ensure that the smaller teams can never rise to the top because even legal innovations will be banned.

On second thought, FIA is probably covering Ferrari's ass. The last season they tried to stop Red Bull with their innovations and now it's Lotus.

It's strange how FIA can give green light to an innovation but when big teams start whining they'll immediately ban the system for no apparent reason.
Yay, way to go FIA ..............again!

Anyway as for predictions

1. Who will win drivers' world championship: Vettel (though want Hamilton)
2. Which team will win constructors' world championship: McLaren
3. How do you think Brüno Senna will do in 2012 (rate 1-10): 5 - Nothing amazing but a solid 1st full season
4. How do you think Kimi Räikkönen will do in 2012 (rate 1-10): 6 - Better than average but will take time getting used to the new cars
5. How do you think Nico Hulkenberg will do in 2012 (rate 1-10): 7
6. How do you think Romain Grosjean will do in 2012 (rate 1-10): 6
7. First driver you think will lose his drive during 2012: Pedro de La Rosa - Think this will be down to them needing a driver with alot of sponsorship.
8. Will Caterham score points in 2012: No.
9. Do you think Massa will win at least one race in 2012?: No.
10. Does Kubica drive F1 car before the last race? Yes
11: Winner of Australian GP: Hamilton
12. Winner of American GP: Button
13. How many points will the dwc winning driver have at the end of the season:291

Very disappointing indeed, also rather fishy. Until two weeks ago the system being made and developped a year ago was all fine, now it suddenl is not?

Welcome to the FIA, whose boss is the former team principal of Ferrari, Jean Todt.
I can think why FIA may want to ban such device for safety reasons. I doubt adding such mechanisms to create movable brake calipers is all that good idea...

4. How do you think Kimi Räikkönen will do in 2012 (rate 1-10): he will be brilliant in every aspect once he gets started, so not counting the first 5 races, pure 10, otherwise, let's say 9 for the whole season
5. How do you think Nico Hulkenberg will do in 2012 (rate 1-10): This guy will do brilliant too. Deferentially my favorite non-top team driver. Would love to see him take some beating on that Scot and even split top teams on occasion, although it might take him some time to get used to tires or whatever, so 8.
6. How do you think Romain Grosjean will do in 2012 (rate 1-10): I don't care as long as Kimi is faster than him... 6

11: Winner of Australian gp: Race cancelled - Track invaded by kangaroos. Results decided by a lottery, Alonso wins.
12. Winner of American gp: Race cancelled - Governor of Texas bans road racing 1 week before the event. Results decided by a lottery, Alonso wins.
13. How many points will the dwc winning driver have at the end of the season: 3 days before the season start, the FIA replaces the old points system by Eccelstone's medal system, therefore championship points becomes irrelevant. Charles Pic gets more points than everyone else, but no one cares, as Alonso takes the championship thanks to race wins:hide:

in all probablitity what's happened is that although the FIA thought it was legal, someone has pointed out that it contravenes a part of the regs which are quite possibly unrelated to brakes or suspensions or anywhere obvious that the FIA would have checked about, someones already suggested that it may actually, and ironically, be because it involves moving items and has fallen under the rule that banned the mass dampers even though that is not their effect

EDIT: looks like it's because the caliper mounts count as a suspension part and it's not rigid as per regs, i'd place money on it being another team who's managed to prove it's covered by the regs, apparently it's the rigid rule that led red bull to say they wouldn't be copying it so they could be favourites for getting it banned, would have helped if the FIA had noticed this rule as well before giving lotus the go ahead

10.2.3 No adjustment may be made to the suspension system while the car is in motion.
it also looks as if ferrari and merc are the other big losers as their systems were at an advanced stage compared to other non lotus teams and all three may have lost up to .5 sec a lap at some circuits

just to contradict myself, redbull may have been saying they wouldn't develope it as they already have a similar system, looking like it was wiliams who pushed for its ban
1. Who will win drivers' world championship: Alonso or Button or Vettel - you just can't say...
2. Which team will win constructors' world championship: Red Bull

Williams can't afford to copy the system, they will protest any expensive innovation.

What a load of bull. Ferrari was the only team that had active susp together with Renault and RedBull was the one who said they won't rush into building active susp and look at it now, it's suddenly banned. Let's connect the dots here.
Quote from ATHome :Welcome to the FIA, whose boss is the former team principal of Ferrari, Jean Todt.

Actually, Ferrari already have their own version of the system, so banning it is a disadvantage to them, too. Take off the tinfoil hat.

Ferrari said they would be looking into creating a similar system. No one knows if what they came up with works.
Quote from tinvek :the other thing is how people are saying it's great to see the name senna in a williams powered by renault again- as nick daman pointed out, that didn't end so well last time

I believe that nothing is impossible and everything can happen, and I'm not too optimistic about Senna doing amazing miracles at Williams, but I'm pretty sure it's not going to end like it did the last time

Now, here are my predicitons:
1. Who will win drivers' world championship: Sebastian Vettel...again.
2. Which team will win constructors' world championship: Red Bull-RENAULT
3. How do you think Brüno Senna will do in 2012 (rate 1-10): 7
4. How do you think Kimi Räikkönen will do in 2012 (rate 1-10): 6.5
5. How do you think Nico Hulkenberg will do in 2012 (rate 1-10): 7
6. How do you think Romain Grosjean will do in 2012 (rate 1-10): 7.5
7. First driver you think will lose his drive during 2012: Whoever's sponsors get too cheap to pay.
8. Will Caterham score points in 2012: Yes.
9. Do you think Massa will win at least one race in 2012? With team orders allowed? Not a chance. Sadly.
10. Does Kubica drive F1 car before the last race? With a shitload of luck? Maybe.
11: Winner of Australian gp: Mark Webber
12. Winner of American gp: Lewis Hamilton
13. How many points will the dwc winning driver have at the end of the season: 295
If Williams go under this year i will not care, they are becoming detramental to the concept of F1.
