You can't rank up from D to C without driving a D level car.

Also, since it doesn't sound like you drive open wheelers much, you will have much more success in the mazda if you start in the skippy. They're totally different, but the techniques definitely carry over.

i could just get to D 4.0 then do my mpr in a C class car

I was not a open wheel fan like you...but the Skip Barber changed that, the car is just top notch, best car I have ever driven..
Who's doing the Star Mazda series then? Managed a 1.34.268 in qualifying (for Zandvoort) which I'm pretty pleased with. No chance I'l be able to maintain that pace in a race to.
I'm giving the Mazda another chance. I always find it kicks my arse if I don't pay attention lol

Zandvoort is one of my fave tracks, but can only manage a 1.35.0xx atm.
Mustang Release

I always thought 12 cars on the grid was kind of pathetic for something like a Solstice.

It's ironic that the cars with the greatest participation have the smallest grid sizes.

I'd like to see them raise the limits for a bit. Not 40 car fields, that's too much (you can't even see 40 cars anyway, from what I hear). But 20-25 car grids for the Solstice would be good. Same for the Skip Barber. Just to see what happens. They won't do it though.

Most of my races are all alone, save for the first few laps.
Well, I totally just picked up Zandvoort, Philip Island and the Star Mazda.

Zandvoort in the skip barber is awesome!!!!!
I'd say yes, but I actually just can't stand the Skippy. I dunno what it is, but it drives like dirt mixed with poop.
Nice to see Wyatt Gooden taking the pole at his home track!

Perhaps having the pre-release of Mid Ohio for practice in iRacing helped out there.
Decided to buy a year after about a few months of waiting. I always seem to drive much better and safer in iRacing where as I'm a complete sato at LFS. :/. Going to see if I can reach A asap and try out some new cars that I bought but didn't get a chance to use due to my trial running out

I'm excited about the v8 supercar. What do you guys think of it?
like all the cars it's geting better as people understand it's setups more. you'll never eliminate the power off understeer or the power on oversteer due to the locked diff but the real cars are similar if you read any magazine tests of them, it's just they look smooth from the outside

i haven't spent much time with it but the series seems well attended with good racing
I did a few laps with it on leguna seca. The car feels very responsive and really rewards the smooth driver. I've noticed that it is a bit wheel spin happy tho as it gets loose on the s/f bend.

Idk if that's normal for a touring car but the v8 supers are top tier cars (atleast in tc categories)

Could also be my set too (or lack thereof). I'm driving with defaults
In real life V8 Supercars are very prone to power oversteer/wheelspin. They produce somewhere around 630bhp and don't have a lot of grip (though the new Dunlop sprint tyre that's been used in the last 2 seasons helps a little). If you look at any pedal cameras of laps you'll notice how patient the drivers have to be with the controls.

Hope to see you on track soon

The V8's do have limited grip and the tyres used, while giving more grip as AMP has said, also have limited width tyres to ensure better racing.... from what I was told! Same for the spoilers.... they are limited too.....

brilliant videos... thanks for that Mr AMP
Is there any way to delete your qualifying lap or do races with some faster drivers? I did a low 03 (solstice/lime rock) and I'm on pole every time Just doing the laps and you'll win easily... quite boring.

Would like to have some fights and race for positions... (seems like I can only do races with the solstice/lime rock? And oval, but that's a bit 'meh')

Also have the idea you get less points for winning on pole... not sure how important that is though.
Splits are determined by iRating, not qual time.
The grid is ordered with those who have qualified ahead of those who haven't, with drivers who didn't qualify sorted by iRating.

You get more points by beating people with higher iRating than yourself.
Once you build more iRating, you'll be racing amongst supposedly faster people. It does still get counted but is not shown if you are still a rookie.

(I think)

Looking at your stats Martijn, you were in the 4th split in your last race, if you keep winning or even finishing in the top half of the field your iRating will increase and you will then be put into the higher splits. You'll only get to see your iRating when you get to D license. I can't quite remember, but I think when your safety rating (SR) get above 4.0 you will automatically be promoted to D.

Oh and stop complaining about winning

I believe it's not possible to delete Q time. Check your result page to see if you're being grouped in top split. If it's the case you can't hope to compete with faster drivers as there probably is shortage of those in Rookie series You may seek for more populated races to boost chances of racing with tougher drivers.

Or just give your grid position away voluntarily by starting race from the pit lane. That's what happens if you let expire join-grid countdown IIRC.
Quote from StableX :limited width tyres to ensure better racing.... from what I was told!

Yep, for some time now Dunlop has been the control tyre supplier for the category. From last year Dunlop added a sprint (soft) tyre to their line-up. On some weekends the teams have to use exclusively the control (hard) tyre, on others they need to use a mix of the control and sprint and on others they have to use the sprint tyre for the whole weekend.

Quote from StableX :Same for the spoilers.... they are limited too.....

Yep. Both types of car (the Ford Falcon and the Holden Commodore) run under a framework called 'Project Blueprint'. Blueprint is designed to offer a level playing field between the 2 different manufacturers to ensure close competition and racing. They both share a number of control components (e.g. gearbox, brakes) and performance in other areas (e.g. engine, aerodynamics) is closely controlled. Downforce figures are roughly 200kg @ 200kph (124mph). The cars weigh approaching 1500kg including driver and fuel.

Here are the official specs for the VE Commodore.
Here are the official specs for the FG Falcon (which is the car that's in iRacing).
