Quote from Luke.S :we need them to do a tech demonstration. Motion sim user vs barrier

Motion sim user loses.

Article.

Deadly driving simulator.

It would actually be great if people could die playing a simulator. That way people would think twice before going pedal to the metal in a turn at 290km/h and aiming into someone else who is trying to take the right turn, just to say "ROFL CARS FLY LOLOLOL". (Blackwood, 2006, demo stories)

It would also be funny....

The New York Times
"Guy badly injured by red and white barrier - He says 'Scawen is to blame'."
"Noob incidence on racing games reduced by 90%, says specialist"
"Hacker discovers new way to go to moon through Live for Speed"

And tragic.

"Lag kills four during a virtual race. Two injured".

Quote from Bigbob1993 :Can you imagine the amount of people(NPC´s) injured during pit-stopping by noobs?

I agree with this as a viable option... could be fun, running trough pit lines in full speed and kill as many people as possible.

It would be boring, because these "people" would be untouchable (you'd get through them just as we already do now), and you'd get a penalty for getting through them.

NFS-2975

Follows the same pattern as Brazil's real car plates. (ZZZ-9999)
I chose the numbers randomly in 2005 for a Pixel Car Game (NFS Pixel Br lol ) I had created (and which lasted for about 3 years), and I always use this one since then. The numbers are random and I always use exactly the same plate in all games.

I have changed it a few years ago, though, (2008 if I'm not mistaken) for "LFS-2975" because people usually thought I would crash into everyone just by looking at my number plate and reading "NFS".

Ok, I used to be a LFS fanboy. I am still one. But not as fanatic as before, specially because of the patch. I can't help but think it is taking too long. I'm sorry, I thought I would never ever say this, but I can't just keep the expectations.

I will be incredibly happy to see when the patch really comes, but until then I don't have any motivation to keep on visiting the LFS.net website. Rockingham looks awesome and I can't wait to pay another 12 pounds for it, but it's just not out yet, and thus I can't race it. I've ran out of motivation.

I also have got to admit that reading people complaining about the patch before it is released is depressing. People should do something else, talk about other matters, come on, why do people complain so much? I most probably want the patch as much as you do but I'm not complaining, I'm living my life, come one guys. (This is directed to the ones complaining).

I've always told my friends how awesome and perfect LFS is, shown them the game and send download links for the demo so they could try it out. All of that just to get a response that always follow this same pattern: "come on, it looks really bad, and there are no real cars apart from the BF1. Come on, why do the windows BLEND??!?!?!". I tell them "they're improving it, it's in alpha stage and it will get much better, we will have new car interiors, the Scirocco, a new track and much more. By the way, thought we [me and my friend] have never ever seen the LFS cars (apart from BF1), there are more real cars than just the BF1, like the MRT, the RAC, etc". But the patch seems just too far away, and I've stopped waiting for it. I'll be happy to play it when it gets released, though. And I still like LFS and LFS physics.

The thing that holds most of my attention in LFS is its physics. It looks a lot like a sandbox engine in which the cars just happen to be racing each other, with physics and reactions being calculated real time. Anything could happen, and the exact same thing will never happen twice.
It doesn't look like a scripted sequence or scripted car responses that are continuously being looped while you pretend you are actually in control of the car during a race, which by the way is the only thing you can do and you are limited to it (this is how I feel about the whole GTR series and all SimBin games). This "sandbox" feeling is what I appreciate most in LFS, and this is why I still play it, not because "it's getting some updates!!!". Of course updates are gladly welcome, and I really want them! Also, not getting any updates is very disappointing indeed, but we can't do anything about it so let it be. Go do something else, go out with friends and family, whatever.
Just to enforce what I mean and assure people will understand, I should make a note: when I say "sandbox" I don't mean cruise or something like that. I have nothing against it, but I really mean racing.

In my opinion, to get even better than it is now, LFS needs a completely new car collision model, with not only blending but also breaking and falling parts, a lot of damage cosmetics and of course things that influence the gameplay too, but I think damage is one of the most important things. And it must be calculated real time too. As I consider LFS a "sandbox" engine, it would be simply awesome to have real time damage and effects too. It would be even better than DiRT2's damage models, and it would look a lot more realistic.

Well... I am now unsubscribing from this thread because I can't stand reading more complaints now, I don't even know why I hadn't unsubscribed before.

I wasn't supposed to write all of this but now that I did it... never mind, I'll just press the "Submit Reply button".

I've never seen so many buildings disappearing after a update as I'm seeing now. Pretty much everything is disappearing and randomly popping up when you look or get very close to it. 1.0.0.4 (5th) patch was better.

New shadows look good and very detailed on high or very high settings, but look seriously awful on medium and low settings.

Quote from Electrik Kar :If I'm running around an open world, I find I need that openness the greater FOV gives or I feel like I'm missing out on something, it will almost translate as a visual disability. The default of 55 in BF2BC is way too low personally.

I totally agree with you. When the FOV is too low on a FPS game, I always move the mouse around A LOT to try seeing everything around me and check every m² if I'm not missing anything. It's awful. But having a too big FOV is just as terrible (for instance, 100<FOV).

Quote from Electrik Kar :It'll always be a personal preference

It also depends on the monitor (widescreen or not), resolution and distance from screen.

Quote from J@tko :This is Britain. Our internet is shite

And I thought Brazil had terrible internet connection...
We can get up to 100/100mbps (up/down) here, but it costs USD $344 per month.

I pay USD $68,94 for my 10/1.2mbps connection. That's very expensive! And we pay in Brazilian Real, which means R$120 for the 10mbps connection (which is the cheapest available!) and R$600 for the 100mbps one. I don't know if you get the idea, but the minimum wage in Brazil is R$510/month.

(Of course, plenty of people get more than the minimum wage. I wouldn't say most because I'm uncertain, but still...)

I was already waiting for the Office 2010 beta when they first announced they would have a 2010 Office version.
So it has been there for quite a long time. There's just no problem about that though. They haven't announced it as far as I know. I found it while browsing the Microsoft beta page, a few months before the beta release. Then I got the TechNet email talking about the beta (I'm a subscriber) and downloaded it. I don't know how other people would get to know it though.

Anyway, it is awesome! I love it, and I use it a lot. I had the 2007 before, but the 2010 is so good I'm using it now. I don't actually see too much of a difference between both of them but 2010 seems better anyway. You can also change the colors of the office (as you could with the 2007).

I think Microsoft is great... they did let people use Windows 7 beta and RC for free for a very long time and at the same time, they gave them Office 2010 beta. It's like a complete, free legal PC with everything one would need for normal usage. They gave us the .iso to burn and the Office to use with it (along with windows and office serials), and we could just rip it and use as we wanted. Obviously, for a limited time. But that was great, and the "limited time" was pretty long.

Quote from Boris Lozac :Not to mention all the troubles of actually getting the freakin game to work in the first place....so that's current PC gaming for ya..

Ok, let's take Grand Theft Auto IV for instance. Many people "struggled" to get it to work on their PCs. When the game was first released and I got it, I installed it (took about 12 minutes to install) and then tried opening it through. Skipped login on Social Club, the game opened. I already had a GFWL account to which I logged in, put my serial and chose "Start game". The game worked just fine and it was pretty fast on my old PC which I had by the time the game was released (Pentium D 2.8GHz 2GB RAM DDR2 667MHz 8600GT 256MB). It didn't run on high, but I could choose medium or low for textures and higher settings for everything else. It would run just fine with low graphics too, but the motion blur and other blurring effects made everything look awesome for me. My friends (who had better computers than mine) were also impressed.

This is the game most people complained about, said it was awfully difficult to install and so on, but I had just no problems with it from release day (1.0.0.0). The updates just made it better (apart from 1.0.3.0, which screwed everything up if I'm not mistaken, disappearing with plenty of objects in the game).

Quote from spankmeyer :Don't listen to him. The chemicals might harm the sensor.

You can clean the sensor by pouring syrup and seeds in the mirror box and leave it out for the pigeons and small rodents to pluck the dust off.

Actually, you're wrong. Their saliva will make the sensor even dirtier.

What you should actually do is submerge it on water for about 20 minutes to remove all the dust. Then take it out of the water and put it on the microwave oven for about 1 minute to dry it (the waves of the microwave oven only heat up water thus transforming it into vapor and drying your sensor).
