you guys make me laugh with your rules. There is not 1 good choice.
It all depends of the type of the corner, the length of the straight which will follow or the direction of the next corner, the eventual banking, the kerbs and runoff area, the opponent and his driving habits or even driving style, etc.
You can't just say : when someone pass you, you must do that. It's just plain stupid. We are not robots nor should we be expected to do exactly the same things/errors/tactics lap after lap, race after race.
1 thing is sure : one should not push someone out of the track, because he is faster or has a better line.
The racing line is a concept totally irrelevant in this case. Nobody is in the racing line when 2 drivers enter a corner side by side. And the one who get the apex doesn't get a magic ticket which give him access to the whole width of the track. He must make a sufficient overlap and complete the pass, that's all. Nobody has to lift to let him pass.
The fact that a line is faster or slower, or that a strategy to let the overtaker pass can be a better choice is also irrelevant. The overtaker can't just say he has the right to go wherever he wants only because he took the apex.
By the way, Senna just proved how bad his manner are at the CD3 server. He was saying just before the race to someone else that man should hold the inside at turn 1, that it was the safest way. I was just behind him at the start, and what do I see at turn 1 ? Senna bumping other people to make room on the inside...Yeah right.
nobody "owns" a corner. The other guy could have perfectly decided to stay side by side (if he had been fast enough), that wouldn't have give you the right to close the door if didn't had a sufficient overlap.
By the way, this is a bad example, the other guy was slower. A faster driver could have kept his position and beaten you in the next right hand corner.
Living in switzerland, Ferrari, Porsche, Lotus or Lamborghini are a common sight to me. I even see Michael Schumacher in his white Fiorano as the new house he is building is just 2 kilometers from where I work.
Though I'd also like vintage looking&handling cars too, there are still good modern cars which emphasize on driver input/output. Lotus Elise/Exige and TVRs come to my mind right now.
I'd love to see a good looking rear mid engined LFS car and a front engined one which would look as good as a modern TVR Tuscan.
I was also in the 53's 2 days ago, unable to do a single clean lap with all the wreckers out there. But last time, my times improved as soon as I had a clear track. I think you have the same room for improvement. I'm not really a fast driver.
I had a great fun last night at CD3. The races were quite clean (probably because admins were online).
I managed to win 3 races in a row although I am quite slow (I did a pb of 51.79 with the UFR), but driving consistently did the trick, so it's not always about being the fastest in a lap.
There is a strange thing when I test if I have a license on your website. I write "Tomi" at the prompt but it show me the license of tomisu. Does it means that I could enter CD2 because tomisu has a license or is the server more strict than the little app on your website ?
The only important point is to make them convincing. I'd like more cars, from different types but I don't care if they are real or not. Most cars in LFS looks a bit outdated though, it would be great to see both newer design and fantasy vintage looking/handling cars.
I don't really understand you all want your XRT to look like crap.
The AE86 was an error as far as design is concerned. OK it was a cheap RWD car from the 80's and thus became the #1 drift toy in japan but in LFS you are not limited by financial considerations and LFS offers nicer RWD cars. Why do you want to spoil their look ?
Well, that's what I usually do, and it worked great on CTRA New&Bronze servers.
But I was also there last night at the CD servers and lifting was not a solution because there was always someone behind you waiting for you to lift or brake and smash you.
Last night it was : YOU BRAKE AT T1, YOU DIE ! YOU LIFT ? YOU DIE ! YOU ARE ON THE OUTSIDE ? GUESS WHAT ? ----> YOU DIIIIIIIEEEE NEMESIS !!!! :hbomb:
The only solution was to start in the 3 front rows and miraculously escape the T1 mayhem. Oh yeah there was ONE race without an incident at T1. But a car landed on my roof in T2. :ambulance
To ayrton senna 87 :bump: , drivers should just spectate when someone is on the inside and he probably thinks that Gilles Villeneuve and René Arnoux are the worst driver in history. OMG they give each other rooom ! :uglyhamme
I think this has a lot to do with people who aren't used to the new patch. It won't happen as much in a few weeks once everybody will be comfortable with it. I don't think there is a need for a fix.
GT is a good car collecting game, but as far as driving is concerned, it's crap.
LFS is a great simulator, but as far as collecting car is concerned, it's crap.
They don't share the same markets, there is no point wanting them to compete. And the result would be pretty obvious, the one who spent the highest money in marketing would win. The quality of the product has a very limited impact on the sales when it comes to attract the mass. Only the niche markets are affected by such considerations.
