even more impressive than having 6 world champions on the grid for the first race is that between them they've won the last 12 championships and 14 in total, even allowing for schumacher distorting the figures it's an incredible amount of titles held by the drivers in a single field
so what happens to the WRC now?

nice combo, i've always been a fan of acog and a fast fire rate for most sniping duties in any game though normally i go with an acog on a semi auto assault rifle, also makes a pretty good sniper killer combo as you don't have to worry about steadying the scope so you can just wait for their head to appear.

currently i'm really enjoying the L85A2

one of the most awesome game of anything i ever played in that respect was on BC2, rush on the map that was on the demo (can't remember name)

4 of us in a squad, non of us knew each other but it just clicked, 2 snipers on sniper hill who were absolutely deadly, myself as a medic , health pack between them, another guy who dropped ammo between them, both of us hanging back in cover and covering their left and right sides from defenders trying to get up hill, me rushing up to revive if a mortar strike or lucky shot got them.

one of those great moments when it all comes together, it was almost a pity that we blew up the mcom stations and had to move forwards

so does everyone else get a cheap thrill when the flash guys in jets / copters screw up or is it just me?

one guy yesterday was doing loops over the buildings on oman whilst strafing on the downwards part and flew straight into a crane and the best i saw on BC2 was on the map with the windturbines when a copter reversed into one of the blades

i started off with 7 in a pond and now there's over 30, the originals are huge now after 4 years but i lost one of them to a heron this year which is a pity as she was one that almost died in the freeze last winter and i'd spend about 2 weeks caring for her in a tank

+1, whilst traditionally real world "race of champions" type events are taken a bit less seriously, you still have to keep the coverage / commentary at normal race quality whilst the races are taking place, skip past the intro part to the actual races and listen how john hindaugh and bruce jones work during the races yet switch to general chat between races.

had a guy in a tank yesterday that couldn't or wouldn't learn from his mistakes, 5 times he came down the road fron antenna to gas station on caspian, 5 times he found my mines when he went through the narrow bit by the rocks

plus a few cynical observers have pointed out that given the cost of the grand am specific models, they won't be surprised to find that after the 50th daytona the manufacturers loose interest for the rest of the series, especially since in the case of the ferrari they can't turn out the normal GT3 model quick enough to meet demand.

the WEC fuji date is a strange one, the korean GP is the same weekend and running at the same time but at least they've given the ALMS a clear weekend at petite, its too close to let any of the manufacturers enter the cars in both but at least it clears the TV coverage

there was a system developed about 1930 that used one way valves in the exhaust manifold to draw fresh air in during the start of the induction stroke when the exhaust valve is still not closed. a certain company bought up the patent at the time but it lapsed later and it was used by a few manfufacturers in the 80's, volvo i think was one and possibly mazda, you can spot them as there's one or two light metal pipes going directly from the exhaust manifold to the filtered side of the airbox.

after market ones existed also under the name geferator, depending on how they were used it would produce either a noticable increase in low down torque or cleaner emissions.we fitted a few for some plant engineers at a local factory who were keen to see how they performed and if they had any use in static engines. if i recall correctly you had to reset the mixture to half the manufacturers levels (we're talking carbed cars here) and on some engines the imporvement really was quite dramatic, in particular i remember a volvo 360 taking 5th gear and full throttle from below 15 mph (this is on a carb and non mapped ignition remember) i sneaked one unit onto a mates 1300 alfasud ti he used for road rallies, two actually being a flat engine, and despite running a peaky set of cam he found it had more low down grunt than the standard cams.

of coure once mapped injection / ingition came out the idea disappeared but it was interesting at the time.

i could see senna at lotus, not because of any potential but just because it fits in with lotus' need to link themselves with the old lotus team and ayrton.

the fact that they existed back then as a rival team to the old lotus doesn't seem to matter and i can't wait to see how they work out how many GP's / titles they try to claim that "the lotus team" has when they next win a race
