which actually gave them a slight advantage at some tracks due to it's power charectoristics. it was one of the few times that the rules makers used some common sense to help a "small" team cope with a change in the rules

Quote from Intrepid :They should 'give up'. GREAT attitude. If everyone gave up in the face of adversity then life would be pointless! If F1 was easy everyone would be doing it. If HRT weren't struggling then F1 would be valueless.

Every F1 car is a prototype, one-off. The lower budget teams will always suffer with reliability, especially at the start. HRT have done a remarkable job getting on the grid.

I say well done to HRT. They weren't all that far off qualifying for the race with Luizzi, considering he had only turned several laps in that car that was a remarkable achievement.

I can only (and yes I know it's cliché and corny) give the example of Lewis Hamilton's brother Nicolas. He hasCerebral Palsy, and despite being told his best hope as an adult is being able to just about 'walk with a stick', (and I used to see him regularly at the track in a wheelchair as a child. His story is for real) he's out racing this weekend in Clios supporting btcc. Should he have just given up as a child?

What HRT are doing is incredible. Not many people on this earth take a gigantic risk to enter something like F1. It takes INSANE levels of dedication. Fair play to them!

+1

a lot of people are expecting HRT to run ahead of virgin this season once they get them selves sorted,

and a ++1 for nicolas hamilton's attitude to life.

Quote from DeKo :Nah, I've kept to the traditional 1st at the bottom left, I'm having enough trouble with that without completely reversing it . I've also kept my shifter on the left hand side, I tried putting it on the right and just kept punching my desk with my left hand, I think that habit is too ingrained.

real life pattern's
R 2 4

1 3 5

if you've totally copied the real layout, just wait till you actually want 1st and hook it into reverse for god sake don't do that at the start unless you're on the back of the grid

Quote from Senninha25 :I'm going to love seeing Kimi after a NASCAR crash or being asked for an interview...they'd ban him for not being such an outgoing man as the other drivers...what's next, Indy 500?

always remember auto sport summing up kimi talking as

"wokka wokka wokka wokka wokka wokka "

Quote from samjh :The Red Bull wing is low, but I can't see it flexing any more than the McLaren or Ferrari. The entire wing assembly itself is lower. Look at the centre of the wing - it's lower than the McLaren, and the tips of the wing appear to be low by the same or similar amount.

the point is that when the cars are static the wings have similar ground clearences, general opinion at the moment seems to be that redbull have a very clever way of the actual nose flexing under load and this is what leads to the wing being lower to the road.

as it is it's a bit of a grey area if this is legal as while if passes the rule about wing flex, other rules do specifically ban any method that allows the wings to opperate illegally. maybe the answer is for the FIA to inpound any car thats suspected of being illegal and running it in a full size windtunnel to see what actually happens under full aero load.

the fact that other teams don't appear to be copying it makes me wonder if there's a behind the scenes attempt to get things clarified and / or produce definative evidence

Quote from reason0809 :awesome lap by Vettel and he didnt even uses KERS
.

that's interesting, given he went out again to try and beat his time yet didn't use KERS suggests that maybe red bull have an issue with their KERS.

whilst it's possible vettel didn't feel the ned to use it, does anyone know if webber used his KERS ? there's no logical reason why he wouldn't have assuming it was working OK

well i've just managed 90 mins round spa which is the longest race i've done (by 30 mins) since i had swine flu in mid 09 which left me with post viral fatigue syndrome so i'm feeling quite pleased with myself (and knackered) despite only finishing 8th, also i had the lowest number of incidents in the race

interesting what's beginning to emerge as the pitlane concensus on what they are attempting to do with their exhaust, quite ingenious to have the 2 exhausts allowed exiting into a ceramic box with what appears to be a veritable church organ of exit pipes at various points under the car, no wonder it's taking time to perfect (and spot ) but i imagine the theoretical advantage must be large to justify the effort.

given that it looks like the L J sidepods are intended to give them a lot less drag down the straights, i'd assume the exhaust must have the potential to generate a lot of grip to counter balance the loss in downforce from the sidepod shape.

i was surprised the anti stall was left in, maybe they should leave it there for the rookie cars and then remove it unless the real car has it (williams ?)

Quote from DeKo :Just had a really surreal experience, was in a COT race with Dale Jr at Pocono. It felt really weird casually chatting to him about random stuff, his PC setup, his race last week, even Charlie Sheen! He's blistering fast aswell, he was pegging me at about 3 or 4 tenths a lap, until on a final lap restart he got turned into the wall, letting me get past, I beat Jr! I don't think he noticed that my skin is his current cup car with different sponsors and a big flag on the bonnet .

He's definitely staying in my line-up now

yep he's a real nice down to earth guy isn't he. i couldn't believe it when i was on the grid for my first ever iracing race (rookie solstice at lime rock) and he appeared on pole position and took time to wish everyone good luck and welcome to any new members. spoken to him a couple of times since then though i havent seen him since i left the star mazda.

Quote from count.bazley :Everybody involved in an accident gets the contact points, that's the point - it's a 'no-fault' system.

exactly, it may seem a bit off but it mirrors real life racing where everyone has to pay for the damage to their cars no matter who's fault it was

i wouldn't be surprised to see wyatt land this, there's a bit more preasure than normal, apart from the prize, with it being at an event the traveling, real spectators etc and his real world experience could make the difference.

i just hope they put on a good show as this could be seen / be covered by a lot of people that normally wouldn't look at iracing.

i'd expect teams using the same engine sto use the same fuel, otherwise they're looking at major remapping and no guarentee the engine will last given how the fuels are made for specific engines
