to be honest there seems to be a lot of double standards here about pirate bay and similar sites, people quite happily download copies of movies and music for free but then if there's the slightest hint that someone is using or looking for a cracked version of live for speed all hell breaks loose.

Quote from mookie427 :think the most shocking thing to come out of the media's reports of Swine Flu is what the Daily Mail pulled a couple of weeks back, reporting that a 'previously healthy 6-year old girl died of Swine Flu after being misdiagnosed with tonsilitus'. Only later in the week did the coroners report conclude that she hadn't died of Swine Flu, but septic shock as a result of.....tonsilitus. The Daily Mail didn't see fit to widely report this, shovelling it back to paragraph 20 of the third page of their report on swine flu that day.

this is the same daily mail that in the last month has reported that coffee can cause cancer and that coffee can cure cancer !!

assuming that ferrari are planning ahead rather than worrying about this season, badoer ( and possibly gene in later races?) kind of makes sense as it allows their test drivers to experience this years car in race conditions which has got to help with next year's car's preperation and testing.

additionally it's a nice reward for badoer's sacrafice in not racing in other series (if you can call being paid to drive an F1 car and other ferraris a sacrafice) and given how popular he's been in the past at their end of season festival, their fans will like it.

Quote from PMD9409 :It's the easiest car in iR.

http://members.iracing.com/ifo ... readID=46226&tstart=0

for you and some others maybe but not for me, the weight and more importantly the inertia seem so much after single seaters.

having said that i do mean to give it a proper try out after i've settled properly into the lotus.

maybe the fact it's so different to drive is the reason they picked it for the pro series? if it was easy to drive it wouldn't be as much of a challenge . i can understand what you mean though, i've tried it a few times and given up each time as it's just so different in feel to the mazda, radical and now the lotus. one thing it does do is reward drivers that are accurate and consistent so maybe it really is a suitable car for the pro series after all.

Quote from Crommi :I'm not a big fan of subscription based games, so I was going into beta with intentions to just try for a month and probably then come back to LFS. I was also very sceptical about laser-scanning because it was hyped up to heavens by their marketing department, but as it turns out the tracks are very high quality and it's the first title where I really have to take bumps and road camber into consideration.

Physics, driving feels very natural but we're still missing plenty of features like complete gearbox model, aero & mechanical damage, brake temperatures ect ect....

The main reason why I haven't raced any other sims since getting into iRacing is the quality of competition. Safety Rating system really works and while everyone is racing hard, no one is pushing you off to walls or weaving across the track. Never seen anyone drive in wrong direction or park their cars on track with intentions of causing a wreck.

In short, I went into iRacing not wanting to like it but sim managed to convince me to stay for a year and I've recently subscibed for another full year.

sounds pretty much the same that i've found it though i haven't managed to actually use it much due to life getting in the way

Quote from Crommi :I'm kinda curious how this will turn out, price itself isn't a big issue if there is enough well done content behind it. I have my doubts about some of that "accurate laser gadget" marketing talk as it's definately not the best way to model most of ingame objects, but I'm more interested in physics and the way online gameplay is going to work.

Hoping for the best, expecting worst.

was digging throught the thread and saw this, so what's your feelings now? obviously you like it given your record but how does it compare to your expectations?

also when you get a team with a very definate number one driver who has a very distinctive driving style and handling preference the car can become designed in such a way that its charecteristics can put the number 2 at a huge disadvantage if he is unable to adapt to it, especially ifthe team is unable or unwilling to produce a different setup to suit the number 2. put him in a different team with a different design philosophy and he can suddenly look like a different driver

well the only rule im following with races this season is to make sure i do some, last couple of seasons have been a disaster regarding making time to race especially with at times a failure to even get practices in which meant that i held back when i could do a race as i wasn't safe.

so this season im intending to do lotus and radical with some forrays into mazda and the jetta plus enought TTs to get my oval licence up. not worrrying about championships etc, so none of that i've had a good race, daren't race till next week crap, im just out to enjoy myself

also don't forget that the improvenments in safety can make the stats uneven. if the cars were still built to the standards of the 60's, 70's or possibly even the 80's then almost certainly schumacher would have only won 2 titles at best and would be remembered or being killed at silverstone in 99 and hakkinen would never have won a single race having died in australia. conversly lauda would probably have won the 76 title if his crash had happened in one of today's cars.

not really bothered about this but there was a photo last week of a photo shoot for a mag in which she showed her breast and it definately doesn't look like an implant. doesn't prove anything apart from if she is a he, then he's using hormones or naturally has man boobs

i cant help thinking that ferrari are taking a hell of a risk still letting kimi go off and do his rallying this weekend, only takes one unlucky accident and all of a sudden schumacher is the team leader

i see that renault have lodged an appeal, no surprise there, i'm sticking by my original thought that the ban will become suspended dependent on no further offences within X races and a fine imposed

i'd say no, if he's got any sense he should be thankfull that a, he's ok and b, it didn't happen in a season were he was challenging for the championship. take the opportunity to rest and recuperate, when he's up to it spend time at the factory with the designers etc and be refreshed and ready to go when the testing season starts for next year.

not sure to be pleased or gutted about this.

worked away developing a setup for the 79 at the glen. was ok, nice to drive but about 3.5 secs away from the fats guys. saw the first SP setup for it so downloaded it thinking that i usually get on ok with his setups for other cars these days (no more spinning top impressions unlike 3 months ago). obviously i'm not going to be that fast but it'll give me a baseline to work from. load it up in a test and it feels very familiar. have a look and the suspension is almost the same as the setup i'd come up with.

pleased on my setup skills but gutted that i really am that slow

always the same with a new car, the aliens dissapear from sight at first and then everyone slowly gets closer to their speed. what i find uncanny abou tthe aliens is their ability to get any content dowloaded and installed so quickly no matter what the queue is like

i really do hope they can find a competative US driver as it would be good for F1 my biggest worry is that they'll put a US driver thats out of their depth in the USF1 car purely because they think it'll please the US fans and they'll be alongside an existing or ex F1 driver who is known for being dependable rather than fast and the US driver willl struggle to match his team mate. that would do nothing to raise the profile of F1 in the US and in fact would probably harm it.

similary i hope USF1 have enough sense (im sure they will looking at the people involved ) to downplay expectations at the start. better to stress the need to develope steadily and improve results year by year than doing a BAR and claim you're going to win your first race

I wonder when you Europeans will ever realize that CART (ChampCar) and IRL are not the same

i do actually know the difference, along with the fact that both marco and danica were from indycar rather than champ car. also the last us driver to win the indycar series was sam hornish jnr in the 2006 series that had only 3 road courses out of 14 rounds in it that year and in those 3 he finished no higher than 8th and behind danica in all 3 of them.
