Quote from 5haz :Being a street circuit, even without the stupid testing ban, drivers don't get much time to learn the circuit at Valencia, so the playing field is relatively more level than at other circuits such as Barcalona.

You don't think about money when you're racing. I didn't give Maz Moseley's supposed riches one seconds thought during the last three laps of the first oneGP round when I had SK's Martin Krause up my trumpet trying to steal my win.

Quote from Becky Rose :
The problem there is everyone being on the same lap, and forcing people to start with damage. Or you could allow pitting but that in turn results in the need for software to monitor fuel taken onboard in pit stops. It would be needlessly complicated and add time to the whole organisation of the event with people running off meeningless laps just so everyone can start with the same lap count.

You simply run the session as a clean 10-15mins and then don't return to the lobby before starting the race. Drivers in the shootout cannot Shift-P/S and when the race session starts their damage and fuel is reset, so they start the race with the fuel they had at the start of the final Q session. In this sense it is more like 2006 with the fuel credit mullarkey, but still provides room to make strategic choices. The grid can be easily set via Insim app.

Given the current malaise in LFS (as witnesses by the demise of oneGP) I suggest that for the good of the community we try to make the healthiest competition (OWRL) as strong as possible. Interested drivers should go to www.owrl.de and ask about signup before the end of the summer break.

Better one strong competition than three weak ones.

Quote from DaveWS :At times I think why the hell did I bother spending a fortune on iRacing, after the last 2 shocking races I've had. The one I've had just now in the F Mazda just takes the ****ing biscuit.

Basically I'm driving in my first ever Mazda race, and it's lap 22 (iirc), and I've been leading for the whole race. In the slower middle section of the lap, I get a bit of a tailslapper developing (the way this car snaps about is just wrong btw), which I recover from but obviously lose time in. However, moments later I'm struggling again to put the power down, and the guy behind can't react fast enough and wacks me from behind. The collision system (which is ****ing worse than LFS!) then sends me 3 light years off the track, with collossal damage. I wasn't sure if iRacing repairs your car in the pits, but I knew a 5th place or so would be better than a DSC regarding iRating etc. So anyway I try and get back to the pits, but the car is ****ed, and sends me into multple more spins, and to top it off, my car did not get repaired so I had to spectate after all that. God I'm pissed right now.

I stuck it on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VLMOswWxbuI

Don't see the problem to be honest. Of course it's unlucky to get hit like that but the distance and damage don't look particularly different to that one might expect in real life.

According to Sam Michael, Rosberg had a fuel pickup problem, had to pit early and drove the rest of the race with 15kg extra fuel. An even more stunning performance than it first appeared.

I think Webber has had a tenth or two on him through FP and Q and if it wasn't for Kimi at Stowe it would have been close.

After T1 it will be Vettel, Webber then Nakajima.

Good luck to Hammond - he's just trying to make money for his family.

The only time he annoys me is when he say, "I think you know where this is going"... as in:

"We've got a caravan and 10,000 pounds of TNT - I think you know where this is going."

Eurosport commentator just creaming himself about driving a diesel Beemer over the Mountain on the Isle of Man.

Seconded - especially when it's one way. It's basically driving a track day on your way to work

Gillian, Gillian... you can get that on road cars these days.

In fact, very soon all new cars sold in the EU need to have tyre pressure warning systems on them.

Everyone who gets fed up waiting for the next LFS patch should be directed to that site, made to read the forum posts of the sad wraiths who still post there wondering if the game will get finished - and THEN tell them that Racing Legends was their 2nd attempt at writing a game - the first one got no further either.

Authority over motorsport activities comes from the local / national associations and they form a Federation (hence the F in FIA). Through this web they can sanction a large percentage of motorsport activity all the way down. If you don't accede to that authority then you can't race. A "rogue" series would be strictly limited on the tracks it could use for example.

So, that can't really apply to LFS. The only thing that could get in any way close is if the major leagues formed an alliance so they could pool resources (like marshals, servers etc), standardise rules and co ordinate race calendars etc. It would have anything to bind it together (like commercial interests) so it wouldn't be very cohesive, useful or longlasting.

Practice Session 2

Timecode - from 13.34 for the next lap and a half.

Cars 46 (me) and 38

Under yellow 38 is constantly pushing and hitting the back of my car. I had to brake quite hard a couple of times to stop him pushing me into the cars infront and on the last turn before the green he nearly spins me out.

Quote from Ori :It is about oval events in genral. It would be most regretful and disappointing to see races beeing wasted by factors that could or better said should have been eliminated in the preceding period. In practice number 2 for instance you can see a process which is even more annoying than a crash: you have cars like 09, 24, ... driving in a way that

1. outrageously slows down the drivers next to them
2. does this because the other drivers are confused and in the same time must avoid accidents
3. finally causes accidents

I had the most trouble last year with oval "experts" who seemed to make up their own set of rules - like don't overtake if you're the third car in the draft and nonsense like that. They then took it upon themselves to mete out their own punishments to the guys who did not do whatever passes for conduct on FM Oval Junkies.

Quote from TFalke55 :world record is 1:05.90 by Darkone. I definately predict race pace times under 1:07 by Rudy, as the 1:07.01 World Record on the reverse configuration is set by rudy.
If the world record would be a pole position lap, the 107% mark is at 1:10.51. So everyone driving this time or faster will definately be part of the grid!

And I predict a pole time around 1:06.50

Sounds about right - OWRL went to Town last season and pole was 6.46

Race pace was a little misleading as the podium finishers all did 62 laps with no stop. Fastest lap was 7.3 so a shorter race should give slightly quicker times.
