Quote from Dalek0220 :
But, there is the bloody carpark, so why don't demos have autocross, cause it mystifies me. Mabey it was just a demolition derby place...

You cant give the whole game away, there have to be other features beside cars and tracks to lure in new s2 buyers.

Thats why i say we should have an unlockable demo, just like s2, except the lisence is giving out, one per email address, if you want to start another one, you have to use a different email address. That way, when they go to go online, a check can be done of their game, to see if the demo user lisence matches the game.

Quote from avaran :I really like the idea of point to point tracks, and believe the addition of such a track could increase the longevity of the game.

A good example of point to point racing is of course WRC.

But the point to point racing I'm really interested in and would love to see could be something similar to the great point to point style racing here in Australia. Such as;

Mt. Buller Sprint:
Web site: http://www.mtbullersprint.com
Course Map: http://www.mtbullersprint.com/ ... f/MtBullerTouristRoad.pdf

Targa Tasmania:
Web Site: http://www.targa.org.au/
Course Map: http://www.targa.org.au/images ... ps/2007%20State%20Map.jpg
Detailed Maps: http://www.targa.org.au/Course/2007_Course/index.php

Targa Tasmania started this week by the way!

The racing could be done as in events such as these, with individual racers starting at set time intervals, say 10 or 20 seconds (It's minutes in real life I believe?). And if you catch up? Race clean, just as in a real Rally!
Times could be displayed as normal finishing times are done, and spectate until all the racers have finished, start again. Or just pit and run again? Just like a huge time trial session.
Or head to head races? (A la test drive 2! HAHAHA! )

I belive this would only benifit a sim of such high calibre (In terms of physics/On-line racing/community) as LFS. Drawing another segment of the market towards the sim.

Hopefully this comment is appreciated by the community, as my search on 'Mountain' tracks proved to bring up some threads with quite heated discussions! So if I am repeating anything, just note it as my enthusiasm for racing on courses such as these. (I decided to post in this thread as it most seemed to suit the what I wanted to contribute to, an idea for new tracks).

We have a targa too, targa newfoundland. It drives right past my house every year. Id love to go in it, show all those got-a-nice-car-no-skill-people how its done.

+1 for the idea, was thinking about it last night. Kind of a rbr thing. I like that game aswell, as for online, start in intervals of say 30 seconds, and beat eachothers speeds.

banning a demo user is like fixing something with duct tape. Its fixed, and makes you feel good, but the problem is not solved and will come back. Just because you ban someone from the forum, they can still play their hacked lfs game. Or register a new account. I think we should have unlockable demo game, where you have to be a registered member, and if any funny stuff is happening on your game, the devs can see it when you connect to the internet.

it says it includes your car, im guessing at all times. Unless it is out of the sound "drawing" distance. Maybe it is out of the "drawing distance untill it comes closer?

LFS only plays the sound of so many cars, maybe 12 iirc? Im not sure how many, but i remember it being announced in patch v i think. If your car is in the back of the pack your cars sound wont get played, because it will play the closest 12(?) car sounds. those being the ai cars in your replay.

EDIT: FOUND IT!
Changes from Version U to Version V :

Sound :

Improved car engine and other sounds, added gear whine etc.
One extra car sound is now played (now 5 including your own car)

Its only 5, not 12.

you can brake all the way down if you like, it still stays in the gear and the throttle is still being applied. I have never noticed this before w9, and i used to do this before. Im pretty sure this is a new bug. Shouldnt be hard to fix. inorder to get to the lower gear, you have to apply more throttle, to match the speed/revs of the lower gear. If you do it in a higher gear, 5th or 6th for example, you can stick it down to first and it still happens.

I believe it is because its off the track you are focusing on. Does the textures appear if you cahnge the resolution?

its already hard enough to skin a helmet and make it look decent. But it would be cool to have some new ones. I'd like the "cheeky vintage helmets with the big goggles" as well.

I think we should have more tire damage and suspension damage. More damage in general actually... Most of the curbs in lfs are weak, the main purpose of them now, is to allow you to cut corners more in hotlaps with out invalidating your laps. I am crossing my fingers fo patch X to have a much better damage model.

i noticed this when i had 2 screens set up, when you are on one screen and the fov is set to 120, you can see a lot more both side to side and up and down then you can on a multi screen set-up. Lfs get "cut-off" if you will at the top and bottom, scales itself for the wider aspect ratio. There should be options in the game for multi screen set-ups, which increases the fov, if you have 3 22 inch monitors (some people do) you whould have them curved to about 150 degrees, and depending on how close you sit to them, they could take up ~180 degrees of your view. Humans have a wide peripheral vision that allows us to see ~180 degrees of what is around us when we are looking straight ahead, we can still see things that are directly to our sides. thats why we need more then 120 degree viewing angle. I have often wondered what it would be like to set up several projectors in a round room with a 360 degree viewing angle.
Changing the way the penaltys are displayed

Insted of having the pently displayed in the middle of the screen in big letters, how about moving it to the right or left side? Having it appear in the middle of the screen for about 20-30 seconds, just so you know you have it, and the move it to the side, i find it kind of annoying, the 30-45 seconds penaltys are the worst, just because when you get it, there is nothing you can do, for the drive-through and stop and go it isnt so bad because it reminds you. Maybe haveing something on the right side or left side (user preference) like

PENALTY:
30 second: False start
30 second: Speeding in pit lane
45 second: Speeding in pit lane

This way, you can see all the penaltys you have, as suggested in a previous suggestion for improvement. As of now, if you have a false start, you can go 100 km/h in the pits, with no new penaltys added.

Quote from spiderbait90 :It is when you dont clutch, whilst changing down, whist braking, and i find it happens about 80% of the time when i dont clutch for whatever reason. But i can say for sure its a pain in the butt. To cure it just clutch and you should be fine.

i dont brake when i do it, but i can see that being an annoyance aswell.

I have the g25 if it helps. Using the h gated shifter, in the lx6 get in 2nd gear, going about 100 km/h or so, apply throttle, floor it if you want, then pull the shifter back to 1st, but dont touch the clutch, the only aid i had on was throttle blip on downshift. now lift off the throttle all the way, it stays in 2nd, and the throttle stays at 50%. You can put the throttle back to 100%, but when you lift off, it goes back to 50%.

i got a 7600gt, and i only get down to about 15 fps with 20 ai, with 8xaa and 16xaf. The rest of my pc is much better though. i would say its a normal thing. How fast is your ram? That could make a difference. Just because you have 2gb of ram dont mean everything will be faster, a faster 1gb of ram in dual channel will out perform a slower 2 gb non-dual channel anyday. Seeing that lfs doesnt use up that much ram, i doubt its the problem. Scawen said it requires a hard-core pc, maybe the devs need to tweak it to get the fps higher when there are more ai.

maybe just a connection error, bad connection ect. Did you try other servers? My friend and i had that problem with patch v, so we just joined a vacant server, and changed it to the track we wanted.
throttle stays at 50%?

If you are driving the lx6 (only car i had time to test it with) in test patch W9, and in any gear other then first, while holding the throttle down, half way up the rpms, shift 1 gear lower, the throttle will go to 50%, and stay there. I dont know if this is fixed, or if it is just me, but it should not be like that.

like the g-force mod? That would be ideal, as long as it gave the numbers aswell.
