Well im using the williams BMW skin, so i aint went that far off track.

Aston Hostoric is a bit stupid with all the ads now, but if thats what was required to give us the BF1, then i wont complain.

Quote from ajp71 :Running the safe race set I struggled to get the TC light to come on anywhere apart from flooring it in first, so it really doesn't make a big difference.

First corner in blackwood is the only time it comes on for me, and the consequences are dangerous if i turn it off and try to take the corner at the same speeds.

Grinning like a bloke thats just been given something big, manly and noisy. First lap of blackwood i thought 'why isnt the car spinning out in 1st gear' then i seen the traction control setting. Next thought was OMG WTF is with the brakes they rock.

I was on teamspeak with some mates at the time and they were telling me to shut up as i was laughing with joy.

Quote from z3r0c00l :If you want to see the value of TC, check out the first parade lap from the australian grand prix, on of the drivers switches it off to warm up his tyres, and promptly spins out, if someone else hadn't stalled on the grid he'd have been down 8 places from his qual position at the start!!

That was Montoya, a guy i know lost £50 becuase of his overconfident driving.

I prefer it, give a bit more sense of realism on the dash.

To be honest, i like it on the BMW Sauber, its saved my hyde many a time, but on the FZ50 i really dont see the point, its not that hard a car to control anyway. The rumble of the TC on the BMW is just spine tingling good.

If you dont like it then just disable it? I just hope it doesnt appear on every car.

Quote from Gimpster :Stellios, adjust your gear ratios so that a full throttle start in the car will not cause the wheels to spin and use a mostly locked diff. The idea is to lower the avalable torque at the rear wheels in that gear.

Cheers for the tip about the diff, ive played around with the ratios a bit, but fiddling with the diff didnt even cross my mind

Im like that, im good with the FO8, but i cannot for the life of me get it going fast from a standing start, keep spinning the wheels too much and losing it.

Dont use that server really now anyways, i mostly play offline for fooling around when im bored.

I had a K7S5A as my very first Socket A board, and at the time i found it great as i hadnt tried others. My dad is still using a K7S5A now. When i upgraded to an MSI the performance jump was huge, just off the board.

Ive ordered the Asrock board and the 3200 Venice now as the shop i bought from had the chip on special for £105. So far ive heard good things about the board, and know a few overclockers that use them and also speak highly of them, so ill risk it. £145 for a board and a CPU, was cheaper than i exected it to be. Ill report back when ive installed the gear if its of use to anyone.

Yes, my Skt A mobo was SATA capable, and ive only got an 80 as that all that was affodable whe i need to replace my 30GB, and i dont really download a lot. Still got 20GB spare on that 80GB drive.

I have all the components off mycurrent rig, the only things changing will be the CPU and motherboard
2800 Sempron > 3200 Venice, worth it?

Thinking of upgrading from a 2800 sempron to a 3200 Venice, what sort of performance increase can i expect, if any? I mostly play CSS and BF2 and Live for Speed in particular. Basically the northbridge fan has died on my Socket A motherboard and its gave me the want to upgrade. I know i could easily but a new NB fan,but ive wanted to upgrade for ages.

What sort of performance improvement can i expect?

Specs will probably be:

3200 Venice
That Asrock mobo that supports AGP and PCI-E
1GB GeIL Value 3200
AGP 6800 @ 350/700@16/6
80GB Maxtor SATA

Cheers for any info.

I do boh drifting and racing, im not exceptionally good at either but i enjoy both depending on what mood im in. I understand the hostility if your drifting in a racing server, but i really dont understand why people say its the work of the devil.

I rarely see drifters saying that racers are the scum of the tracks, so i dont understand why racers cant extend drifters the same courtesy.

Yeah i love LFS for this very reason. Cars like the FO8 are pretty twitchy at the limit, and being able to do that is very good. I cant even hold a slide in R Factor, but i can hold one in the FO8 at 180mph on the oval.

I dont know how the devs have done it, but its one of the few games ive ever played that actually give a proper feel to a game, you even know before the back end starts to slide its going to happen. With a game like LFS, that gives such a good experince, you dont give a suff about the sounds, or the bugs or anything, it all goes out the window. Every game ive played, even GTR feels arcade and dull compared to LFS.

LFS really is going to be the daddy when its complete as long as they dont fiddle it too much.

Few on there, goes to 0.1W however old that is, but the cars are just pixels so i take i that its almost an original release.

No, i love this game because of its lack of driver aids. The Formula V8 is a very hard car to drive, but put the effort in and you get the rewards.
