Speaking of Top Gear does anyone know when the new season starts? I really can't wait!!!

I'm a little worried about the McLaren pace... I Know Lewis topped the seccond session but he was still .5 sec off of Kimi's best time

I think that it's wonderful to have such a close GP at the top. I really couldn't pick one between Raikkonen and Hamilton, also i wouldn't put it past Alonso to spring a few surprises. The result in the end will probably depend on a combination of the perepheral factors more than the actual pace of the cars as they are so close (only .1 of a seccond between the Ferrari and McLaren in Q2). If lewis does manage to stay ahead at the start, which being on the grippy side of the grid is fairly likely, then Kimi will have a real fight on his hands even though he has a faster car. Kimi likes silverstone though and i think there could be a titanic battle between the two of them today... throw in some rain and you have all the elements of a classic

CAN'T WAIT!!!

Night Race Question

With the Singapore GP for next year being confirmed as a night race and the Melbourne GP considering doing it i was mulling over the prospect and though of something.

For a night race will they do night qualifying as well?

I know that other series (principally in the states) run at night and if there is a precedent for night quali there they might just continue that to F1. Can someone more informed then me give me a clue. Speculation also welcome.

Well if this goes through you can kiss the most advanced formula in the world tag goodbye. Really depressing reading on a friday morning. Anyone got thoughts?

From what i have seen in GP2 he has the ability to fight for position no doubt about that. Look at istanbull last year or the three wide pass at silverstone. He hasn't had the chance to really show it in F1 yet but the boy is good.

Quote from tristancliffe :Lewis didn't do ANYTHING amazing this weekend.

None of the top 4 did anything AMAZING this weekend, Massa drove away in a faster car, Raikkonen was driving a lacklustre first stint and went out, and Alonso went backwards off the grid and stayed there. The astonishing thing about Lewis is that he was more consistent and kept a cooler head under pressure then his much higher rated and higher payed teammate.

Quote from tristancliffe :Qualified 4th behind his team mates. No big deal

If you adjust for fuel Lewis did at least as good if not a better quali time than Alonso. Admirable that on fuel adjust he would have beaten Raikkonen as well.

Quote from tristancliffe :Got a good start - more to do with electronics than driver skill

The actual getaway is about electronics yes but the rest of the start is all driver skill. You didnt see alonso easily sliding past a similarly positioned Ferrari did you?

Overtaking would be great but from my experience of F1 it seems to be more of a systemic problem with the cars. There is no other form of motorsport that requires a circut to have a certain profile to allow overtaking (although of course some are more condusive than others). We need less dependency on areodynamic downforce for grip in F1!!! :chair:

ok rant over he he
Should Be simple problem Please help

Hey guys i was installing some new ram to make LFS run better and i ran across a problem. I have bougt two sticks of ram but one of them does not work in slot 1 on my motherboard. I know that both sticks work but whichever one i put in the first slot ends up not working so i have concluded that the slot is faulty. This is fine as i have three memory slots but the problem is that whenever i put a stick of ram in the third slot the computer doesnt recognize it.

SO....

My question is how do i tell my motherboard to look for ram in slots 2 and 3 instead of 1 & 2? This seems like it should be a simple problem but i cant seem to find a solution anywhere. I am using a Jetway V600DAP motherboard if it makes a difference and running Windows XP home edition. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for any help

Quote from mikey_G :That chicane is gay

Agreed. Hopefully though the McLarens can make the Ferraris look silly into T1 again and Hamilton can get a few more places up. Mebbe a win??? though i doubt it. For the championships sake though i think that the most interesting finishing position would be:

1. Massa
2. Hamilton
3. Raikkonen
4. Alonso

That would shake up perceptions quite nicely

That's a cool track overlay, though the layout presents some obvious technical diffuculties. With the track going over a bridge there doesnt seem to be alot that the marshalls could do to clear a car that crashes at that point which could lead to some long safety car periods. other than that the track looks good

Quote from spookthehamster : and fewer new tracks made by a certain Mr Tilke is always a good thing.

Hate to break it to you but our old firend Mr. Tilke is back for this one as well

"The circuit will be designed by German Hermann Tilke, architect of the sport's most modern tracks." (from Autosport.com, http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/58679)

Still looks like a good track though... now all we have to do is rip all of the areodynamica off of the cars.

What i am wondering is why is there absolutely no coverage of this. It wasn't mentioned in the eurosport coverage or on the BBC Rally site or even autosport.com. It's like it never happened

It still amazes me how people can be that careless. If you are crossing a stage in an active rally you have to expect that there may be a racing car coming down the road at something like 70 or 80 mph. Vigilance has got to be the first thin on your mind and you should be ok.

Comiseraitons to the family and all but it just seems like a sensless waste

BATracer world series for the LFS community PLEASE JOIN

Hey guys thought that this would be a cool idea to try and get a kind of LFS community world series going as the LFS crowd is the only international scope online racing community that i have regular contact with. Also due to the A1 series nature hopefully it will give you guys a chance to represent your own country. Feel free to invite other people to the game if you wish. just go to http://batracer.com/.

Players will need to be registered and logged in before they can enter the private game. When logged in, clicking the following URL will take you to the join game page:

http://batracer.com/-cj?&D&13573

Alternativly, you can select "private games" from the menu and enter the number "13573" into the box. The game password is "world". Take care not to accidentally join a public game by mistake.

Hope people are interested and hope to see lots of you there it's good fun

Brilliant race by lewis!!! Massa seemed solid but he wasn't spectacular and was never reallyp ut under that much pressure as he had such a straightline speed advantage over hamilton... Kimi and Fernando were a bit meh, but Kimi made a better fight of it.

Great job to BMW and Red Bull, it will be interesting to see what they can make of the rest of the season and if they can start mixing it with the front four.

Other than that let's see some of the aero come off these cars it seems ridiculous that there is so little opportuinity to pass even if you have a clear speed advantage. The seccond GP2 race was fantastic and much more exciting...

well to be fiar Liuzzi hasnt really shown a great advantage over speed but scott has shown some strange judgement. for instance why in melbourne did he not just continue to the pits and change the tyre when he had that puncture? very strange
