Hey guys with the very real prospect of a wet or wet/dry F1 race in Malaysia this weekend i am interested to hear people's thoughts on who might do well.

I think that Raikkonen might struggle a bit as he has been fallible in the rain before and that it could give Alonso the boost he needs to make it close at the front. It will be interesting to see how hamilton goes because i dont think that he has done that much wet running. However there could be some real surprises for instance no one knows how Kubica goes in the wet.

Thoughts? Intuitions?

I have to be out of my country for the first F1 race of the season this weekend and as i dont have Tivo or a Vcr ony my TV i am going to have to miss the race.

I was wondering if some kind soul wold be willing to record the race and put it on here as either a direct download or a torrent file. I would prefer the ITV coverage but anything in english would be awesome

Hey guys, seems all i do is ask questions on these forums but here goes.

I have just realized that the Rally Monte Carlo is going on at the moment at would normally watch the coverage on british Tv on Sunday (think it was ITV last year) anyway i have been scanning the listings and there doesnt appear to be a listing for the rally at any time on the sunday or other time i could find. So... am i:

A) blind
B) It has been moved to a different day/channel
C) It has been taken off of terrestrial coverage alltogether


Does anyone have any info about this cause C) would suck

I was wondering if anyone in the community might know of a site in which you could find coverage of F1/Moto GP to download after the races. I say this because i often am not around during the races themselves and dont have a way to record them.

I have as yet been unable to finda reliable source for either but someone here posted www.enormouslysideways.com(net?) for the WRC and i was wondering if there was anything similar for the F1/GP world. If there isnt could anyone suggest a torrent site that might have them regularly? Cheers in advance for all the help and suggestions guys

Sorry if this topic is a bit random but i was watching the coverage fo the most recent rally new zeland and i noticed something. Every once in a while there seem to be sparks coming from behind the wheel arches of Gronholm's car. It only seems to be him (though i didnt look too closely at the others) but does anyone know what might cause this. I was thinking maybe flint in the rocks on the stage??? does anyone have any thoughts? If you need the episode it can be found here.

Yep they did say significant brin injury but the 6 o'clock news on Radio 4 said that doctors were optimistic that he could make a "good recovery".

Lets hope "good recovery" means being back on top gear as his old self and not, We think that he might be able to dress himself one day.

Seccondly i think the fact that it was a wet race has made the championship much better. If you look at how badly hayden was doing and how fast rossi was coming through in the dry, it leads me to believe that rossi would have made a significantly greater gain on hayden pointswise if it had been a dry race. If he had gained 15+ points on hayden i would have to put my money on the rossi for the championship. As it is i think it's going to take some sparkling performances from the doctor and a little bad luck from hayden for rossi to win it all. Both of these are capable of happening but not a sure thing which makes it look to me like the final three rounds are looking like a real cracker!

Also its a bit of a long shot but dontrule out pedrosa or melandri

I would dispute you on a couple of those. I havent seen kovalainen race in GP2 but he really hasn't impressed me much in terms of testing and friday practice times and i dont really have much else to go on so i think its a kind of wait and see for him.
From what i have seen of Hamilton he looks to be quite a strong prospect and seems to have some of the agression that button is lacking so i think that if he gets a McLaren seat and the car is somewhat reliable that he can be up the front.
I agree with you on kubica and rosberg in that Kubica has lots of potential and that rosberg seems to be decidedly average.

well he's an underdog compared to schumacher at the moment. All the momentum is with Schumi and most people would say that over the last few races he(Michael) has looked like he has had the slightly better car.

A) Michael Schumacher win the championship and cement his place in history with an 8th world title, going out on a high.

or

B) Fernando Alonso hold on and win with what looks like an inferior car and in the face of what many would call blatant favoritism from the stewards.

I persnoally am undecided as i can see both outcomes would be nice, would like to hear what others think though. NO FLAMING everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

Excellent news congrats to Lewis Hamilton i feel he really did drive very well all year. Bit of a shame about the circumstances but chances are that he would have won it today anyway. Roll on a new brit McLaren driver in F1!

Speaking of pronunciation how do you pronounce his name. all the people i know seem to say it Koh.Vah.Line.en but looking at the spelling that seems wrong. Can anyone knowledgeable or finnish help me out.

yeah pitting at the end of lap one is fine i am talking about the people that pit from the start grid, come out of the garage and into one of the pit squares stay there for about a seccond and then drive the whole race without pitting. It makes me angry

In the next update if any devs. are reading this can you please please PLEASE make it so that the pits are closed on the 1st and last lap of a mandatory pitstop race. This will stop the exploit where people just start from the pitlane and run the race normally after pitting and also people who pit on the last lap and save themselves the time of an outlap. Just drove the best race on a server only to come 3rd to two people that had done this.

Not to bitch at you guys or anything but you have totally made me hate James Allen. Before i read this topic i didn't like him i just didnt pay attention to him that much and waited to hear what martin had to say... now however every stupid word that he utters seems to stick in my head it sucks

I was wondering if there was a way of finding out what the WR was for a track/car for the keyboard and mouse. Specifically for the Aston club circut using the FOX i got a 1:01.65 and was wondering if that is anywhere close (eg within 1 sec)

I really dont think fernando will be successful next year, not by a long shot. Lets look at the problems that he will face.

1) He will be with a new team and new engineers and mechanics which he will have to come to an understanding with, not just in testing but in the races when things start to (and they will) go wrong.

2) It will be the first year for McLaren on the bridgestone tyres and while the new control tyre will be new to all teams there will be others that have more contact with Bridgestone's basic philosophy which will give them at least a slight edge.

3) New and unproved car designer, This is the first post Newy year for Mclaren and while they have had to develop this years car without him it will be the first year that they have had to start from scratch. Another point is that depending on who his teammate actually turns out to be they are likely to get time to start deveoping the new car around themselves as Fernando cant drive the new Mclaren until at least the end of the season for contractual reasons. This brings us to number 4

4) The different philosophy of building cars. Each team has different ways that they like to build the car and it takes a while to get used to a different team's construction ethos. Whereas the Renault has been characterized by medium power with a very felixble and responsive chassis that is kind to the tyres but has a bit of understeer built in the McLaren for '07 will most likely be similar to this years car which seems quite different. This will take some getting used to (not saying he isn't up to it just that it will take time)

For those reasons not to mention the question mark over reliability which has been bullet proof at renault this year bar hungary, i think Fernando is about to come down to earth with a bump next year. Renault while not perfect over the past couple of years has always given Fernando an honest shot at the title. It will take time to make Alonso a consistent winner in the McLaren so it will be interesting to see when/if he is fighting for another title. There is the schumacher precedent with ferrari but there are also many for whom it has gone horribly wrong: Hill, Villeneuve and others who have left their championship winning team and never gone back. I hope for his sake that he does make it work but i dont think it will happen soon and definetly not next year.

Does anyone know if there is a mod to allow for ghosts in single player. I have checked the all mods thread but the link is down. Is there still one around that i can download. Obviously it would need to be able to be turned off. Cheers in advance for any help.
