I love the Boso stuff... Not a popular opinion I grant you...
EDIT: Link to another post on the subject... 'cause hey, this comes up time and again on every car forum known to man, so why not link 'em all together?
Or search for the term 'rice'... Or just stop bumping the argument. Or something...

LOL... Presumably you're right on that one. I mean, the US has at least had loads of opportunities to practice that manoeuvre... Practice: something that wasn't afforded to the poor bastards dropped in as an invasion force and then told, "OK, the country is now a pile of dog crap, so (ha ha, yeah we forgot about this bit...) now your job is to police it!"
And btw... Even the CIA didn't regard Iraq as a threat to the USA, but a schoolchild could have told Dick Cheney and the scum that hang around with him, that invading it, destroying the infrastructure, and turning the whole territory into one big back door for any number of insurgents, would be an ace way to turn it into a threat.
"Bingo boys! Now we have a war on terror that we can parade to the tax paying couch potatoes on the cathode tit... Another cigar?"
I absolutely agree - I'm happy to trade looks for driveability. I just disagree completely with the OP's claim that iRacing is vastly better than GPL in that department.
To be honest though, I'm glad to see the screenshot, 'cause a Radical would be the only thing on offer that might tempt me away from feeling that iRental would be a waste of my time and money.... Well... No it won't, but it does give me a little frisson of pleasure to think about a well crafted Radical simulation...
Interested to know where the screenshot came from... Googling iRacing and Radical got me nothing like that shot.
Sorry, but no... not vastly better. But that is the problem: iRacing should be leaps and bounds better, a lot bloody more than just a bit better.
GPL is old technology that looks far better than it should do, because of the work of some very dedicated enthusiasts - amateurs in the true sense of the word: people who really care about the subject.
iRacing should reflect the same care. Its not doing it for me... But then we're talking about a very subjective area anyway.
Looks like a very interesting debate actually, but one I will have to drop in on another time...
Only have time at the moment to respond to the immoral/illegal debate. I have to say that the distinctions are largely irrelevant when you consider that the chiseling, narcissistic scumbags who planned the war did so without even the vaguest form of realistic exit strategy.
While a few rednecks might off an animal or two as respite from the tedium of being cannonfodder is understandable, but frankly much uglier is the fact that an obnoxious gathering of oligarchs, stoned stupid on their own self-importance, decided to sacrifice a significant number of the people daft enough to trust them with power and authority, without any recognition that there might be a limit to the number that they would be willing to see fall in front of their malformed juggernaut of an ideology.
That the American & British public have yet to hang these shitbags from the nearest lamp-post is a testament to our own guilt in this matter.
Yeah, don't get things mixed up ... The debate over whether Al-Quaeda exists is not part of some conspiracy theory involving controlled demolition and Pentagon self-harming...
AFAIK its merely about whether Al-Quaeda is an accurate way of categorising diverse Islamic militants. Its certainly very handy for the propagandistic purposes of BOTH sides (if there are indeed only two sides in this "war"...) to have an identifiable name to act as either a totem of terror or a flag to rally around.
Whether it exists in the same sense as, for example, Coca Cola exists (with a formal hierachy of directors, workers, shareholders etc) is another matter entirely...
Well, to be honest, I don't really care about how a sim looks, only how it drives, nor do I think that static screenshots are all that interesting, but...
Didn't do any thorough searches - this is just the first that I found while quickly googling at work:
Ok, there are a few jagged polygons and other bits and pieces you can nit pick on ...but GPL still looks great to me (and its free).
Ha ha ha... What a load of mewling, sentimental tripe. *He* is a professional, paid to do a job *he* chose as a career. That *his* office happens to be subsidised by the honest work of others is a privilege that *he* should be grateful for.
We don't owe *him* anything.
And by the way, there are women in the armed forces too, or perhaps Susan Faludi is right to suggest that a certain sector of American society has revelled in the so-called 'terror', creating "an exaltation of American masculinity".
You mean it isn't just a case of getting some like minded people together and agreeing on a setup, agreeing on a race time, and racing?
I can't see how its more complicated than that.
That's basically what happened for the LFS gathering at Drivers Challenge. All it requires is an organiser (cheers Ben...), and I know how much time it can take up (having organised a ten week season of challenges in Racer), but its a simple exercise.
Not a fan of this idea. Setups have two reasons for existing (IMHO...): to make the car more predictable and comfortable for an individual's driving style; to shave tenths off your lap times. They're not going to turn you from a mid-fielder into a leader.
But as I say, that's just my opinion. From past debates, its obvious there are a lot of people who disagree, so why not 'organise'. Password a server (so that you can rely on each other to use the required set and not worry about interlopers who don't get the idea), and run a series.
Why wait for it to be 'forced', especially if its the one thing that might liven up the racing for you?
Got to say that I always thought the speed 8 looked a bit like a tank... If we're talking aesthetics then the all time numero uno for me was the 787B. A small car with a sleek and flowing profile, from head to toe. The rear aerofoil, even though it was stuck on pylons, floats gracefully behind the car... That it screamed like a fox rutting through the night was just an added bonus.
A couple of lions were walking along Brighton seafront. One says to the other, "I don't know, its not all its cracked up to be. I mean, there's not many people around..."
