Changing the damping/rebound value in LFS , changes damping/rebound over the whole speedrange. So i guess you mean seperate slow/fast-bump adjustment.

LFS dampers are all linear The worst dampers ...

Quote from Barroso :i only saw him once and as himself, it was a test for 16 player server i think, he asked in the forum for people and i joined in

I saw him once as Scawen too Long ago...pre-S1 era. He tested a new patch and we had 1 or 2 races in the GT, but then it turned into a chatting session. I'm sure It was scawen, 10 minutes after he closed the server the patch was online for download. Surely one of my better LFS moments :goodvibes

Yep exaxtly it protecting me from ppl i don't want to drive with anyway. I hate this option (like all 'force you' options) but agree bobs idea would make it better.

Quote : In real life, hybrids do grip better than normal road tyres, but do not last as long.

I think thats a bit to much generalized. There are many differnt tyres which would fit the category "Hybrid" and most of them are available in different compounds and with different tread depths. Without having more specs of the LFS tyres its just speculation.

Agree partly , i would better like to see less servers with this option enabled.
I don't join Hosts with no mid-race join. Because i'm looking for good races and good fun with good ppl, usaly these ppl can join track without causing a mess.

I'll try to show the differnces in TCP/UPD with my limited knowlege

TCP and UDP both are protocols for transfering IP packets.

UDP (User Datagram Protocol) works 'connectionless' it sends out the IP packets and did not check or validate they are actualy received (fire & forget).

TCP (Transmission Control Protocol) works connectingoriented, it guaranteed the transmission of the packets, make sure they are put together in the right order and has a checksum function to make sure the information inside the packets has not changed. If a packet gets lost it will be retransmited.

Quote from Fonnybone :It's my
baby She's so purty...she's a bit lowered too and with the OEM ground
effects and BBS mags, she's a blast from the past.

Hell yeah e30 is one of the finest series BMW ever made So keep your baby in a good shape, watch the usual points where a E30 wants to corrode and you will have a great car for a long time But i belive canadian winters will hurt her bad :weeping:

Quote : The differentials surprised me too. From what i understand, a rear viscous diff
is standard issue on ALL 's' (sport) BMWs at the time. The 325ix basically has
a 325is rear end and viscous clutch-pack (see where the confusion begins..).

Thats exacly the point Afaik only the ix had a viscous lock. All others had a fixed passive clutch lock with 25% lock.

The 325ix is one of the rare BMW's using a viscous lock for the rear instead of cluch pack. You know why ?

I fixed it by reducing the clearance in the pedalaxes, and cleaned the pots with 'brake cleaner'. I could move my Gaspedal about 5mm left/right before fixing the pedalaxes.

The 95% issue is coused by spiking pots and the logitech autocalibration feature.

The RWD GT is fastest with a locked diff. The Lx4 is very driveable with a locked diff too. So its not just the UFR/XFR

Right now the clutch pack lock without any preload is very disapointing for me.

hm weird , i used 78.01 then 78.03 and now 81.85 with the same card, and never had such problems. Minimun sleep is at default (1ms). V-sync with 85Hz and i usaly have 85fps.

Only difference i see, i didn't had SP2.

U should realy use 8xAA & 16xAF it looks so much better
this is the profile i'm using for lfs.

Quote :Btw. I still don't understand how we can change every little setting in some hothatch (like xf GTi) but can't have racing tires Not that it needs 'em, it just feels stupid...

Yeap agree, i'm wondering more why we have a huge set of springs (increments 0.1KN with a range from 14 to 140 KN/m for the xfgri) . But we only have outdated lowtech linear dampers.

Setups are still unlogic and undone Rfactor is alot better and closer to RL regarding setups

The point is, either warmers are allowed or they are not. There is no rule which says you may pre-heat your tyres but only 20°C below the optimum.

Quote :Only the well known race series (modern FF, F3, GP2, F1, Cart, MotoGP, DTM etc) use tyre warmers.

If LFS is about to simulate the most unimportant racing series, then you got a point there.

Quote :It takes away the fun part of hotlapping which is to push the car to the maximum, if you have a ghost car to follow lap after lap then your using an aid to help you imrpove the time till you can't go any quicker. Without a ghost car you must decide where the braking and turn in points are for yourself lap after lap with only the track features to use.

Maybe it takes fun away from you if you use it. Others may have great fun , so hard to accept? And a slow driver will never be able to drive WR times just by driving behind a WR ghost. As i said before a ghost car isn't important for me , but i want as many competitive drivers as possible , and if a ghost will help them to go faster in shorter time, great.

I think everyone with a iq higher then 20 knows that LFS has some form of tyre warmers. But thats not what hes asking for.

I say yes to adjustable tyre-warmers. But if you set them to 80°C the tyres should have a little lower temp at racing starts because your car doesn't 'warp' from the pits to the starting grid (well in LFS it does but in RL it doesn't).

Quote : do you realise how few racing series' actually HAVE tire warmers? only the very top ones.

Show some examples of series which doesn't allow pre-heating the tyres. Pls post offical regulations where tyre warmers are disallowed.

Quote : what's the point in having tire temperatures if you've got warmers?

Tyre warmers don't fix the temperatur during raceing

Yep , it has one longitudinal arm and two wishbones. E36 isn't a very good example but E39(5 series)is. It has double wishbone rear suspension without a longitudinal arm (trailing arm) but has anti-dive and anti squat. By looking at the lower wishbone (which looks like a A-arm) you can image why it has anti-dive.
M.Mos

Quote :while a true trailing arm will cause the rear of the car to dive due to the geometry and the effects on it when the rear wheels have braking forces applied to them

True, but not only for trailing arm. In this vid of an e36 doing a brake, you can clearly see its diving at the rear end. The suspension type is a developed form of the multi-link rear suspension.
M.Mos

Quote :are double-wishbone suspensions not classed as 'multi-link'?

No , double-wishbone has solid upper and lower wishbones. In a Multilink suspension each 'arm' of the wisbones is a seperate unit. They have complex pivot systems and are almost infinitely adjustable.

Quote from BATOR :i have a AMD64 3200 Clawhammer and a X800XT PE and was considering the OC route myself , but you have to ask yourself is the risk and cost of replacement parts enough to justify a minimal increase in speed and the life expectancy of your parts is reduced considerably . Fot myself the answer was no

Thers always a type of cpu witch is perfect to OC. In most cases its the slowes cpu of a series. For example AMD 64 3000+, 120,- Euro , 1800Mhz.
Nearly all of them run with 2250Mhz at stock vcore which virtually turns them into a 3600+ worth about 250,- Euro. Thats not a minimal increase in speed. Without doubt you shorting the lifespan of a cpu by OC'ing it. But in the 3000+ example if you have a good cpu cooler the cpu temp is lower OC'ed then it is with the stock cooler at stock frequency. And i dont need a lifespan of ten years or stuff.

Quote : for all u saying its "non-realistic" u can just turn that feature off!

yepp they can , and will turn it of. But a noob might use it and improve his laptimes much faster and that is the problem for these kind of people.

I dont need a ghost car, but maybe would use it for driving different lines through corners to compare it, i can already do it with analyze for speed. But with a ghostcar it would speed up things, and since we don't have race engineers in LFS to help the Driver any help from LFS is appriciated.

mooneye ,

no the flickering of that one texture isn't very noticeable. It looks the same with 78.03 drivers, no wonder the driver can't "fix" the texture

I would like to see some x850 screens, because i dont know if the transparent windows in LFS looks better with my 7800 or its just imagination

Whats your problem? Are you just waiting for someone to ask a noobish question so you all can bash him. Do you think the devs needs a bunch of hobby lawyers?

Maybe he has bought S2 ... maybe not. Wonder how you guys can tell
