Even tho some of you has spotted the signing from the other thread, I felt like completetly own thread for him was in place.

C&P from our forum:

Quote :It's my pleasure to welcome mBah, as known as Michael Southwood, into Mercury Racing Team.

Michael only got LFS a few days ago and in those few days has got only around 1000km's under his belt.
Even tho being completely new to LFS Michael has simracing background from GTR2 and FORZA2.
So this is really an extraordinary signing for Mercury, which is better known for only going after already proven fast drivers instead of 'complete beginners'.

However seeing only few hours of his driving, the whole team was convienced that Michael really has huge amounts of potential and that we should get him onboard before any other team lays their eyes on him.

If anyone has any doubts of his ability, you're welcome to try and prove us wrong

We hope to be able to give Michael some tips and guidance and help him settling down nicely to the team.
And we're sure we will be seeing some very nice results from his part in the battlefields of LFS.

So, very warm welcome mr. Southwood

Quote from Intrepid :If you wanted to race you could find someone... beg, borrow, do what it takes.... get a mate to help you out... hire someone....

Begging I tried, no one fell for that. Loaning without any plan for certainity to be able to pay them back in a reasonable time would be like stealing. I don't do that.
From my "mate hood" I think there is only one with a drivers lisence besides me, and he doesn't have his own car. And yea I bet everyone is like you, being able to hire someone whenever they couldn't do something themselves.
At this moment I'm doing the ****ing what it takes to even be able to keep myself fed.

I'd really like to see you go to some African village to preach how every kid in there could race if they just stopped making excuses.
You need to ****ing realise that even if your life was "hard", there will for damn sure be someone with way worse one.

Edit:

Quote from Intrepid :Your assuming many things about me of which you have NO idea... I turned up at school in the back of a sh!tty VAN ffs!

Oh wow, the luxury. I used to walk to school.

Quote from Intrepid :Well as an adult you may need to re-evaluate your current financial situation. Get a second job and stop wasting SO MUCH time on simulators. Again if it meant that much to you.

and a 89 Sierra... i wish I had something that big when I was getting my gear together to race.. two words... roof rack

There is nothing re-evaluate about my financial status. It sucks plain and simple. I'm working 8 hours a day plus spending 4-8 hours a day at school. I do not spend THAT MUCH time on my pc, let alone in LFS.

And by mentioning my sierra, I wasn't saying I don't have a way to haul a kart to tracks if I had one, I was saying that under 18 years old has no way of doing so on his/her own.

Quote from Intrepid :Well then you are OBVIOUSLY spending your money on the wrong things!

I have spoken to a lad who has moved all the way from Mexico to race in the UK, and is stuck in some sh!tty little flat, and doesn't really have much money! That's IS DEDICATION and PASSION!

Dump your girlfriend, sell your gear, downsize if you have too.... if it means that much to race.. you would. And bringing back to the original point... the people V1 are looking for don't actually exist int he non racing world.!

There are people that do... and then there are people who just have excuses!

lol what? I'm living in a shitty flat, I have 2,7€ as it is right now, I can barely cover next months rent, and no I'm not spending money to nonsense, I'm not actually spending any money for that matter. And yet I'm not racing in real life!
I don't have a girlfriend, I've got -89 sierra that I only use to get to school/work and home.
That's my god damn excuse you were asking for.

And to another point raised by you, how should an invidual under 18 year old (some countries less) being able to haul that kart (or what ever the choise of vehicle is) to the track and to back home without having a drivers lisence and not being fortunate enough to have parent or such to help him/her out?

No matter how much passion one has, things don't always work out the way one wants.

Quote from der butz :snip

the Porrari-FZR is different. A fat pig in my eyes. It feels like a container ship in heavy storm.
Brake early (doNOT overuse gears), wait and let it roll through the corner completely, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait STOMP IT! Feels strange.

We're pleased to announce that Anton Mironov as known as Fox 2 has decided to join the ranks.

Anton is 16 years old and he is from Moscow. He is long term LFS'er being around from early 2004 already.
Anton has proven his speed by various hotlaps and world records he has set in LFS hotlap ranks.

We hope that Anton settles in the team nicely, and helps us to get better team aswell we will try to help him to become better racer.

So all in all, Welcome Anton!

Quote from pecholobo :thx arco it's really good to know it, I never try the test patches.

DaveWS, my first hotlap was bl1+xfg few months ago, without clutch button this wr is impossible, again, is't my fault sorry

Well not your fault, but because you're using it on every single lap it makes the next guy to hotlap that combo using the macro/buttonclutch aswell. And that's how it all starts rolling and soon we're going to be back in the state that S1 was where everyone was using button/macro as a clutch.

And how about deleting all of the SC laps now and updating the laps as you drive them?

Quote from niels1 :Nice Vid. I wonder how you set the wheel up in rFactor. For some reason I cant get it right in rFactor. The wheel doesnt center very well. In center it feels like it wanna go left or right. When holding it in center on the straight it gives resistance.

Somwhere in the FFB options you have an "invert force feed back" or such, making it the opposite than it is now should help

Quote from IDUI :Snip..

I think style is really that which makes the driver feel most at home while at the limit.

Second that.

Think it was one half-retired legend of LFS that once said something along the lines of; If there is 1000 drivers there's just as many different driving styles.
And I'm still agreeing to that.

I used to have that quite frequently with my x700 pro. And once it got all boxy, only way to get rid of it was to reboot my computer.

I was using the latest drivers back then.

With my 8800GTS I haven't encountered this bug yet. *knocks wood*
