Quote from nikolai_01 :Just passing by with the hope that devs see this post as the first one didn't get attention - would be useful if we can choose how much degrees does the steering wheel turn, for example mouse players (most of us) are used to the 720 degrees (most road cars) and cant get used to the new settings (different cars, different values). For now I use decreased steering angle, but that doesn't work good.

sorry if this isn't the right place to post that

Quote from Scawen :Unsubscribing from thread now. Thanks for the positive feedback. I'm really pleased the update is working very well, as intended!

try next patch i guess

i am also affected by this as 6 years of mouse racing for roadcars has pretty much gone to 0, but i didn't test the patch so can't blame anyone

Quote from joaopaulopt :I don't think this is a big problem in the LFS race.

it has been a problem for years and will be an even bigger advantage once people figure out the correct tactic and setups to use this new feature and get good enough at it; as far as i've tried either using it as traction or stability control on the lowest brake strength (especially useful on turbo cars) or an instant handbrake button to carry more speed into the corner with the highest brake pressure

i mean it's quite hilarious to read this discussion here between some serious racers who know all the exploits and the more casual people whose opinion on this topic is pretty worthless due to not having the experienceBig grin

a gamepad is an useless controller for a simulator, you could get a basic wheel for the price of a dualshock or just use mouse like many others?

as you are from finland you could try using the old trick of using the wheel like a mouse, e.g. using low degree of rotation, like 180 degrees or lower. works pretty well if u get used to it

Quote from Excellent15 :and i do get pretty damn competitive on it.

can confirm

Quote from 5tag :Quick feedback on night time lighting:

Head lights as well as tail lights appear way too bright. This might also be due to excessive bloom and the fact that all those lamps emit light omni-directionally (which in reality is of course not the case, especially not for head lights!).

Another issue is light temperature. Since LFS' cars generally belong to the late 80s to early 2000s, pretty much all of them would use traditional light bulbs. The only car I would imagine having xenon headlights is the FZ 50 (and of course the VW Scirocco, once the time comes).

Finally, the night sky over a city is usually not that dark, since clouds get illuminated by the vast amount of street lamps and other light sources. Of course the odd atmosphere is also because none of the buildings/windows are lit.

Edit: I'm not overthinking this. It's a visual update and I'm commenting on the visuals. Also Scawen is the one striving for realism in every detail so I was hoping to provide another perspective. And yes of course you can, theoretically, retrofit a dozen bone-stock 90s hatchbacks with LED rear lights, but that's not the point. Scawen and Eric can take my opinion to think about what they want to achieve, or they can leave it. But I don't want to discuss this with other users any further as it needlessly clogs up the thread.

these are good points for finishing touches, people calling it overthinking are just worried about the "release date" moving forward which is usual business and unknown anyways so relaxSmile

Quote from MicroSpecV :Yeah, but I've known Storm for a long time and had battles like this a few times - luckily we both trusted our abilities Tilt

so it basically has nothing to do with demo racing in generalUhmm

trusting your opponent's ability is the only ingredient in "hard" racing, it won't end up well otherwise

Times have changed DK. The overall state of the community will affect the toxicity. It's easy for people to meme the crap out of this place and there's a reason for it

sigh

this reply is also cringe tbh, who gives a shit about memes and who would even bother?Big grin

Quote from DataFi :I've got one minor complaint about the start light objects. Make sure the lights are far enough from the track that no cars can knock them over even if there is some lag "jumping". One of those lights fell over in T1(atleast for me) but for some reason it didn't happen in the replay https://clips.twitch.tv/BombasticStrongNuggetsSmoocherZ

wow that's really bad

Quote from ymeshulin :If I could only propose one modification, that would be to replace the increased run-off areas with concrete slabs. So instead of minimizing the penalty of a mistake of taking a corner wide, a driver would immediately suffer bent steering or suspension.

why is this a thing? i've seen this practice in quite a few servers running layouts online and it's just unpleasant really

i kind of understand it's done to make people follow the track properly but if you take a corner wide you lose enough time already to have a considerable penalty and putting some suspension breaking slabs in the runoff area just indicates a poorly put together track for me tbhBig grin
