Not my cup of tea..

But furry is something I don't encourage, but I don't really care about it either. Kinda like religion, I just don't get the people. As long as they leave me alone, I'm fine with that.

Quote from Gargantula :I tried it right now and I can only see about 45° without moving my head from a straight ahead position, but with my head at 45° I can move my eyes the extra 45° more.

What kind of special eyes do I need? Haha.

That's right for seeing detailed things. For a quick glance (Car there/not there) you should see a lot more. Try this: Put both your index fingers in an upright position before your eyes. Now start moving them outside on a circular line. You'll be surprised how long you still are able to notice them, even without moving your head (note: notice, not see).
The problem is, that most of the LFS users use one monitor, so you can't really have that noticing effect, so you need that glance-buttons. Since I still can get the 90° there, I won't complain, I'm just explaining

Quote from sgt.flippy :Not if you know that when wearing a helmet, the helmet itself would limit your view a lot when you just look sideways with your eyes.

It's not really *that* much, at least with the helmets I had on. Granted, with a motocross helmet and those goggles it's different - but we don't have those in LFS (yet, we could always hope to make it a motocross sim ). With eye and head movement you should easily be able to look 90°, even if you're restricted by a virtual HANS. Which we don't have. Heck, we don't even have seat belts

Is there any reason why the tyres are floating?

Quote from ecpreston :ok.... but you can move your eyes too. A slight head turn with the combination of your eye movement easily gets you a 90 deg view.

You can almost get 90° just by moving your eyes, without moving your head at all. Valid point there.

Quote from spanks :boosted applications, you don't lose boost when shifting

drag racing = far superior with an automatic vs a standard manual trans. Its much more consistent for bracket racing, doesn't have a clutch to fry, can do a better power brake burnout, and again, if the car is boosted.

Also, you get better launches. Even underpowered commuter cars with manual trans can spin the tires on launch with a full throttle clutch dump.

Yes, you lose about another 5 or so % in driveline efficiency

many people discredit drag racing as an actual form of racing though, so I doubt many people will even accept this logic.

A sequential box with ingnition cut also lets you shift without losing boost. Due to lack of a clutch and having a torque converter instead you run into problems at higher powered cars, for example losing more possible torque at higher torque levels. I also doubt the better burnout capabilties of an auto tranny, I can't see a reason why that should be.
I also isn't really better for launches, if you're not being a complete retard you won't spin the tyres during a launch. The reason why your automatic doesn't spin the tyres is, because it wastes at lot of the inertia on the torque converter. So it is worse in starting than a properly handled manual box.

And drag racing (unlike drifting) is won by being faster, making it a form of racing. Even if I find it even more boring than oval racing, but that's only my kind of thinking.

go ahead and tell me in which racing case an automatic would be superior to a manual box. Or equal to.

JA3? Source?

I loved the first 2 games (never played deadly games sadly), was a bit disappointed with the expansion pack for JA2, and when you had the Barret Light 50 it was incredibly easy.
Now you remind me, that I wanted to finish JA2 without getting hit once long time ago. I still have the savegame where I'm at Meduna's airfield. Curse you, I wanna play again

Meh, reading the whole thread before voting could help sometimes...
The first option - making tweak available for everybody - is a definite no for me. Demo players already have one of the greatest demos ever made in the history of games, it's almost a full game with unlimited playing time. If you want to have new content as a demo racer think about buying the game first, that's a lot of new content for you. And every single demo racer on this forums who wanted to get S1/S2 managed to get it, so the argument "but my dad won't let me" and similar ones won't work. If you can be adult in such matters you usually can get what you want. This is mainly directed at a certain demo racer in this thread.
I can see the point of prohibiting a release too, but in my opinion it would be better to have one "proper" tweak application, with license check and cheat protection (see hotlaps) instead of having fishy releases somewhere scattered over the internet.
The "moderated mods" aren't exactly what I would want too, since it's in my nature to rather create stuff from scratch instead of having a pre-made solution. On the other hand you wouldn't get tons of lousy tweak presets then.

Guess I'll stick to my vote (release to licensed racers) after all

Another damage indicator? Nah, the ones we already have should already not be in, I'd rather have clutch temperature and suspension damage removed than having engine damage in (also have tyre temperature as an onscreen-thingy for the race cars on their dashboard rather than F9 view)

You can't deny that R33 and R34 were more of a toy than a car. I wouldn't say no if I got one, but it's not on my priority car list (fictional of course, I can't afford any gas guzzlers - yet)

I don't really like the looks of the car, but the computer stuff fits in pretty well with the Skylines before, they all were some kind of 50,000 pound playstations, if I recall correctly
