I agree partly. Forza 2 was, considering it is a mass market and on a console, a very good game/sim. It has been said before but while it isn't up there with LFS in terms of the detail of the physics it is pretty damn good. I would disagree thought with FM2 being car porn for xbox. GT was as it handles like crap where FM2 was car porn + good physics.

The improvement they have said they have amde for FM3 should make it a really really good game/sim.

I never buy the special edition ones, never seems worth it tbh. That is why i preordered the normal FM3 as soon as it came out

It does really rule out the modifiying thought part of it does remain. I can't remember the levels but do you race a lower powered car with the aftermarket forza bumpers so you have downforce or leave them off and race a more powerful car. Obviously this only plays a small part but I have had some good racing online in this situation (on the part oval track can't remember the name) where I was quicker through the infield but was slwoer on the oval section.

It is rare but you can still find it, I spent a couple of hous recently on full server racing standard cars. The server was set to that the cars ahd to be standard and changed classes every couple of races or forced everyone to the same car. Was made good by tc/stm/abs had to be off and manual gears etc and was some of the best racing I have had on forza 2. Reminded me alot of lfs in times gone by with everyone finishing 5 lap race almost nose to tail with passing then re-passing, 3 or 4 abreast into corners.

Pre-ordered the game today, just shame that there is still 3 months to go until release date

I recently upgraded from a 6 year old tv so a brand new 1080p tv and forza 2 looks good so really looking forward to forza 3. All I hope is that game play has AA so don't get the annoying pixel edges on the cars.

Regarding the 4x4/SUV's while they dont really go in a racing game/sim as unless you look at the bowler don't having racing suv's. However will bring another element to forza 3 and who knows maybe there will be some specific use for the 4x4's cars.

While that is very conspiracy theory like the cia shot kennedy. I have to say, while other conspiracy theories are based on someones made up story in there head there is some un answered questions raised in that. While I do not know if they are correct if they are they are shocking. Like why was nothing done about the virus being sent out as a vacine until it killed a ferret.

While I hold that its very very unlikely I wouldn't say that its not real.

Either way a pandemic of ill people isn't too bad, considering they were predicting "Z0mG everyones going to die! Teh end of the world!!11one!eleven11!!" and yet its just the flu. It annoys me when the media scaremonger like that though, oh well they will keep doing it.

I have not read the full 14 pages of this but it seems more and more its now being reported as yes its flu but not really any worse than normal flu. Hmmm what counts as an at risk though? I mean I get the normal flu jab as im in 'at risk' group Better start saying my goodbyes lol.

To be perfectly honest though, with the human population that we have now a pandemic will happen and will wipe out a good % of the population. Whether this comes from birds, pigs etc or just a mutated human virus who knows but with travel and population density as it is, if one person gets it, it spread so quick.

The demo is free. The demo offers 3 cars and 1 track and while it is unlimited in the ammount of time you can play it you do not get the full features. To buy a licence to access all features you need to pay for it. The price will be depandant on the currect £/$ exchange rate but will cost £24.

Edit 2: Yes you can race online in demo, however the racing can be difficult at times due to people crashing and wrecking your car as they can change name easily. However the racing is generally better on licenced servers.

Currently reading Bill Bryson: A short history of nearly everything. I have read it before but it was a few years back and I can't remember anything that was in it.

While agree that for a computer monitor i agree 1080 is better but I wont be using it as one. I will try to barter in a shop to see if I can get a 1080 one for cheaper, looking around on the internet they seem to be a good £70 - £100 more which puts it out on my price range.

From what I have seen in shops and friend/families samsung they do make some very good televisions, however reading some reviews online some models have got bad reviews.
When I finally make a choice I will have to sort out the tuning dvd you mentioned.

The more I read on these and people's responses it seems more and more likely that I will just have to pick one and hope it suits me.

Without being rude i'd post on AVForums - way to many people get sucked in on specs on most forums, thus why people actually recommend Generic TV when they look awful.

Hmmm well it will only be used as a normal TV and on Xbox (which iirc is only 720 anyway) so seems then that for my use 1080 isn't neccesary. Will try AVForums though, see if they can offer any advice.

Hi all.

After spending a couple of days playing xbox/watching films on a hi def tv, then going back to mine decided I need to get one lol.

It will be in my room, so thinking 32" tv will be a good size, looking round I see will be between £330 - £400. Now I have narrowed it down to these 2:

Now while the Toshiba is 1080 while the samsung is only 720, I know its a difference but from looking at tv in shops, the difference in small enough Im not too concerned about it. Anyone had any experience with either of these tv's? I have looked on most sites/stores I know but if you can suggest a better tv for the price or where to get these cheaper?

As already said heel and toe. Googling it will give you full explaination and videos etc. but short version is: Heel and Toe is used when downshifting and is mainly used in rwd cars. Your right foot preses your brake, your left foot presses the clutch to downshift, You then move your right foot to blip your throttle (called heel and toe as alot of people use toes on brake and heel on throttle or visa versa). The whole purpose is that due to your engine revs being lower than wheel revs that you can lock up your rear wheels under heavy braking causing the car to be unstable. The quick blip increases your engine revs to better match your wheel revs.

In regard to wheels though: G25 for me. Only problem I have found is that heel and toe makes my foot sore as the pedals are level so I find myself pressing on the edge of the pedal not the flat top. However this was cured after the post suggesting using spacers behind the brake.

I think everyone agrees that to have the updates would be good. It would be nice to know what is coming in the future and where the Scavier are taking LFS. However, we as a community as a whole do not cope with getting the information. It causes many many threads on the subjects, people analyse the information too much, speculate on what it all means and where it could lead. All this leads to lots of un-needed threads with lots of false information in causing rumours.

So Information: Good, How the community deals with it: Not so good.

You don't get extra upgrades, you get extra unlocks. The unlocks being what takes your LFS from demo to S2 content. The extra unlocks are there so that you can unlock S2 on another computer (to show a friend maybe on the agreement you lock back to demo once finished) or so that you can unlock in the case of repairing/upgrading your own pc.

As XCNuse said, if a second person wants to play they will need their own S2 licence.

While I am not a LFS fanboy, I think saying it is a flawed simulation is wrong. A flaw makes something not perfect and while LFS isn't a perfect sim (cold tyre physics, damage etc), Forza 2 is just as flawed in that it is dumbed down and so isn't perfect either. Forza 2 is a final game where lfs is still in development so who knows maybe lfs will be come perfect one day. I wait for forza 3 though to see what improvements have been made, all I cans ay for now is I am looking forward to it.
