actually I meant the fact that the tyres overheat that much (as they do currently in LFS), and with wear they don't grip less, but more, due to the fact that they cool down near to ideal temperatures. So this overheating phase and the grip issue is the thing I am wondering about, whether it is realistic or not.
you can't really fix the tyres in LFS. R2's will overheat badly, then slowly start to cool down as the wear increases, eventually they'll get a puncture.
For R3's the process is the same, but they won't overheat that much, but will get much colder and will provide less grip nearing the end of their life, but they should last a couple of laps longer.
I see people often complain about setups not lasting, or overheating the tyres, there is really nothing you can do about that, except for not pushing that hard, or dealing with the overheated phase, until they cool down.
you can make roughly the same amount of laps (+/-1-2) on the same tyres with any setup, the difference will be minor and most of it will depend on your driving style. Tyres will only go flat prematurely if you lock your wheels constantly.
I am not sure this is realistic, but this is how LFS works currently.
you do know that visible damage wasn't intended to be put in S2 at all in the first place? I wouldn't get myself too excited about possible falling off parts until S3.
I noticed with the new patch that whenever there are many trees on screen (FE Gold) the gameplay isn't as smooth as it is on a relatively plain part of the track. I have a c2d 6300 with an x1900gt and I normally get from 60 fps (full field) to anything up to 160, so I wonder what this could be related to. I switched off Antivirus as well to eliminate anything that drains resources of my pc. This is not like stuttering or glitches, it just isn't so fluid.
any ideas or suggestions of what I should try? I am gonna give a try of disabling trees, currently I have everything at max, except for flags, which are disabled.
thanks for the reply, but I got disconnected with V2 and V as well, so must be something either at my end or our league server. I am going to try to test it on other servers. the disconnections were pretty constant, every 15-20 minutes or so.
could this have caused disconnects in V4? I got disconnected from our server every time after about 5-10 minutes. I changed then back to V2 and I wasn't DC-d anymore.
hehe, MMORPG for 2 years? that's crazy which one is it that has better physics than LFS?
It wasn't really about why they aren'T on the list, but just curiosity of what's up with them, they were all here pretty much from the beginning but at least S1 times and now apart from Jeep, whom I saw once on STCC public and OPK whom I saw commenting on the forum I haven't heard from the rest of them. but thanks for the info
true in most cases, but I feel this particular set was lacking a lot of grip, so my points stand in general to make a setup corner faster. also had I left it at viscous diff, wouldn't have made it any quicker, would it? and it wasn'T the general handling i was telling about, as an xrg can't be that bad at handling whatever the set shall be
hey, I tried your xr gt setup, just out of curiosity. my impressions were:
- I was 1.5-2 seconds slower then with a set similar to the wr set (my pb is 1:33.45)
- I changed the diff to locked instantly, didn't help
- tried using stiffer ARB-s, it helped a little
- what I noticed was that the gearing was very different to my taste, or what I was used to, I only use 2nd for the first hairpin, all the other slower turns are taken in 3rd, which in your set has very low revs and doesn't pull the car out of the corners fast enough.
I think by tweaking your gearing for 3rd and 4th to be closer to 2nd, you should gain another couple of tenths. also using more negative camber will help your cornering speed and as the xr gt is a very easy to drive car and nice on the tyres it shouldn't decrease tyre lifespan that much. Having them a little above 50 degrees or nearer to 60 doesn't loose you as much grip as you lose by using less ARB and more positive camber.
I don'T want to defend rFactor as I am no fan of it, but to let you know, in rFactor the BMW F1 car has a different bodywork (minor differences of course) for every single F1 round last year and you can freely select which revision you want to play with. it even has those vertical winglets, which were used at magny cours and only if you select that specification. So considering this is the 2006 BMW, until hockenheim Villeneuve was their other driver, so it is right to have him in the screenshot. it's not like the screenshot is the bmw f1.07, isn't it?
checking out lfs-news helps to keep track how LFS does in other areas of the world. The AAL was one of the few leagues that kept producing news from time to time even when LFS-news was sort of "dead".
so anyone who hasn't heard/read about Chaz yet, didn't read LFS-news that much, but you can always check out the league archives to catch up.
if you've never heard of Chaz, shame on you. it just shows you either haven't been around long enough, or you don't pay enough attention.
I think I only raced him once or twice back in S1, was funny when I overtook him in the fxo-s on so long and his teammates were like: wtf Chaz? he has an almost "god-like" status amongst aussies there, like he cannot lose, ever. it was a good race, but lag put an end to it unfortunately
there are MOE endurance setups on Inferno setupfield from Ocrana and Thunder as well, N1lyn and Norbi respectively. Although they are for Aston GT I believe, but there can't be that much wrong with those sets for KY2 either.
no offence, but the wrecking was because you were using the wrong lines and drove carelessly without looking, so it is mainly a driving issue and not the setup. believe me there are more ppl could have made the turns with that WIP setup, than those who couldn't.
also why didn't you invest more time in learning the track and putting on a decent driving for the video, it looks like you recorded your first attempt, like your first ever lap on that track.
it's like you think well, why make an effort to make a decent video with some good driving, this will also be good enough for those at lfsforums, so who cares. so for me, your video doesn't really gets through with a good message.
