I only mentioned Iracing for the hosting part, nothing else. If you host in a controlled environment you can encrypt more easily , change encryption routines or start a case against someone who tries to do copyright infringement by creating a fake host.
In another way LFS does not survive, times have changed. Piracy is higher then ever, Pereulok is switched off, but for how long? Just a matter of time before it shows up again or someone else with the same structure. The new generation is too egoistic, you need different actions for this. Yes, walls..
No, it depends on what you say. I mostly reply to a part of a message but I am reading the whole message... The 12 quid for one track rant gets you minus points, I start replying in a less soft way.. That you work/have worked is good, that you have no control over what you've earned is not good. You shouldn't ask if they can buy game(s) for you, its better to have a discussion about why you don't see any money from your work and when this is going to change. Because it's not a normal situation, you sound like a child slave. Which, in some countries is still normal but where this happens there is no internet so I am a bit puzzled. It's not really a LFS problem though, more a personal problem.
Exactly, and this is because of the extremely high piracy rate. It's marketed everywhere on the internet.
You try to frame me into 'you stole candy from mum so you are bad also' but this doesn't work. We are talking about LFS here, no reason to try to sidetrack. I never pirated LFS because it simply didn't exist seven years ago. And this is the problem of the last years, it's easier to crack then to buy. So there are three options;
1) take away piracy
2) stop developing
3) stop own hosting capabilities
If 1 doesn't work and 3 is for some reason not desired.. Whats left? Yes, 2.
I would go for number 3 but it's not my call. I just sit and watch this drama.
Thats why you got the demo invitation. Loads of servers there, high chance someone likes you. If not you can start your own server.
Something which I did seven years ago. I wasn't even interested in the licensed environment. Until a friend got a license for Christmas and was very excited about it. I created a new account and bought a license too.
Right, so you break rules but you still need to be respected? Not my logic, neither should it be for anyone else in society especially not when you do not regret any of the rule breaking actions. On public racing servers you don't use speed hacks, ever, because it has nothing to do with racing. He knows this but doesn't care, so why should I care about his brain?
Same with this piracy thing, you know what the consequences are if you do the piracy move. It's utterly ridiculous to come to the official environment and demand it back. I never seen this happen on any game/sim platform in the world.
The only thing what I am interested about is why people decide to break the rules, sadly most of the time I read silly arguments like I played this sim for YEARS but 24 pounds is way too expensive! I used the comparison before, going to do it again, go to a hooker and ask for 24 pounds of pleasure and the response will be defined in minutes, not years.
The problem is here, LFS maybe never receives an update anymore because of piracy. If a pirated environment gets bigger then the official environment it's dead. I realized this so this is the reason why my servers are offline. It has no point anymore to invest time in LFS because the future is dead. No new tracks, physics or cars can change this. Only a drastic change in multiplayer policy would help, something which kills piracy. Like I-racing is doing.
Few months back this kid wanted to have a free license voucher... That is exactly why I am against this free giveaway thing, the wrong people try to get this.
if you are the best example of this, how great must it have been.
Your parents know you are a bad kid which cannot have responsibilities about money yet. Hurray! Some good parents still exist. What you do to get what you want in normal life? Stealing? I suppose so. Get caught by the cops, the rest of your life ruined.. Awesome future in front of you.
Seriously though, if you cannot have you are own money which you worked for, you have serious issues... You can try to reflect it back here with all kinds of "arguments" like 'you guys are poor also' but it's not really going to help, sorry. It's kids talk. Try to grow up, talk with your parents and try to do it in a smarter way then you do here and you might succeed.
People need to start to realize progress doesn't happen when there is no official environment anymore, you cannot make *any* demands when you are illegal. But people don't want to realize this because very egoistic nowadays, only thinking about themselves. In a few days it's Christmas but people have no clue what this is all about anymore also.. Only thing I see is demands for material stuff, poor people!
It's two tracks plus autocross and six cars. Quite a bargain for the amount of fun you can have. And for another twelve the possibilities are endless, some have years of fun with it. Do you know them? I bet you do.
You can't possibly say something about this because you haven't been a licensed member for years. All idea's and development requests are from the legal community not the illegal one.
Yeah. So? I have an AC license, even the Nordschleife DLC, I never use it though because it's developed in a rubbish way (!). So, pretty crappy argument again.
Exactly the problem, thanks for clarifying this one more time
It only takes a little bit of time to make it work again. I am not interested in this but someone else will do.. If you silence discussion the problem doesn't disappear, it stays. It's like putting hands in front of your eyes and saying out loud; "nothing is going on, nothing is going on".
Buying a car is one thing, it needs fuel too. Speaking of which, 24 pounds is about half a tank of fuel. (Depending on local fuel prices, size fuel tank blabla, I know). Half a tank of fuel in four years.. What is this? Not much is it. So it can't be the pricing of LFS, the price is used as an excuse.
The problem is that they already know this and had this. Without paying anything. It's called stealing but for some reason it is legit if you are from Brasil or some Arab country because -insert silly reason here- .
Although, I have to admit, it's not easy to buy LFS legal in some parts of the world (like Brasil). I saw someone suggesting, I think it was Degats, that any bank account can be linked with Paypal. But this is not true, this is only possible in some countries, not all. And if it's possible they use crazy high service rates, like 30-40% or something. (I know this because I needed to buy S3 vouchers for some Romanian friends and Romania is even in the damn EU!).
If you need to go through a lot of hassle to buy a product while at the same time it's very easy to get online on an illegal platform.. Why bother? The problem is now that the illegal environment got way bigger. Lets face it, the official environment is dead, completely dead. Not a little bit dead, Scawen, but completely dead. And this doesn't get magically revived with the release of a new car, new physics and/or tracks. More then this needs to be done, it needs to be released on Steam .. Not because of marketing (although it's a nice side effect) but because it's a worldwide paying platform where everybody can buy without any hassle a voucher/license. Without these actions life is not coming back in LFS because the illegal environment will keep finding it's own ways to get around the paying problem.
The easier you make the payment the easier people buy stuff (stuff which people most of the time actually don't even need).
stop try to make this North Korea. As long as discussions are civilized why block it. So it can be dead here again like the rest of this year?
You can continue here, there is this demo. If you think the game/sim is good you can buy a license and you get more stuff. Most of the players still have enough on S2 level. Its 24 pounds. Four years thats 0.5 pounds a month or 6 pounds a year. When was the last time you went to McDonalds? Ever looked at the bill?
I am here seven years by the way. Spend a little bit more on LFS but that had also something to do with karma. Smoking is expensive you know.. Quit smoking and you save money, hurray \o/
This starts to sound like the migration crisis where some people have to work while the rest of the new people are terrorizing the neighborhoods and doing no contribution whatsoever to society. Even worse, trying to do some backstabbing.
What you are basically saying is that if there are enough paying people, you don't have to care for the people who steal. And the problem is bad marketing according to you. Well.. If you look on Youtube then there are hundreds, thousands of illegal video's promoting the cracked environment and only a few legal ones. Facebook groups same story. I tried , on my own, to take down a bunch of video's a couple of months ago (empty official servers, I was a bit bored) which in the beginning I was succeeding with but after a while Google got so annoyed by my requests that they send me a message that I needed to prove that I was affiliated with LFS otherwise they wouldn't handle my copyright infringement requests anymore.
The thing is if you want to do it right you need to make the team five times bigger, to handle all these things.. What do you think will happen with the price? Tadaa.. It goes up.
No. Why? There is enough database space, interesting to read all these people seeking to have fun but not willing to pay for it and making the most silly arguments why it shouldn't cost anything.
