Keep in mind that "working most effective" doesn't mean "uses least fuel"...

I said years ago that their engine is too restrictive for their own good... Every obstacle they now face is a direct result of not thinking long-term when they started the project...

Remember what hassle it was to get hosted and spectating? And it'll only get worse: how feasible are weather and day/night-transition when the current engine coughs with a few dynamic shadows?

It would probably be easier (and faster) for them to start from scratch than trying to tack on ever more things the original engine wasn't meant to do...

I can see the potential in the new tyre model... That said, I can't think of anything in the sim genre that didn't have potential yet still miserably failed... I would love for someone to finally succeed, just to have something to point to and say "yes, this is how it's done"...

Anyway, is it just me or are there others struck by the irony that iRacing previewed the buggy NTM on E3 only to protect their image and now released this last build?

I believe they could have prevented the most part of uproar in the forums and ridicule on public sites (both completely justified) if they had been just a bit honest... Really, a "guys it's not quite right yet but we'll make sure to fix whatever problems arise in the coming weeks/months, but in the meantime enjoy what we have for you for now" would have turned the athmosphere completely around... Waiting five days to read, buried on page whatever, they knew the NTM still had problems (but working on it) is a glass of water onto a forest fire...

I never saw this twitching myself, and this video looks more like too much countersteering for the very fast steering rack the GT has...

I'm more baffled that tyres that obviously aren't right made it through testing and no statement as to why... I mean, they're always talking about engineers working at iRacing and nobody there thought it odd to have minimum pressures you wouldn't even set on your road car?

Are you really debating the realism of certain controllers for a shooter game?

I don't know if I should laugh or be worried you two never get your hands on real weapons...

Quote from boothy :They've released point clouds etc of Oulton but nothing more, seems like they haven't got very far...

If you watch the segment of the new iRacing TV episode with the three Indycar drivers visiting iRacing, you can hear Steve Myers saying Greg Hill currently works on Oulton and that it will be the next track after Iowa and Suzuka...

I don't know why they're not bringing it back now that Merc has their own team...

Quote from carfetish :Interesting, it would be cool if you could post a video going under under 10 kph..

Sorry, any video I capture is choppy at best... On their forums I read something about waddling on cold tyres and that they're on it - it would fit what I see/feel, so I'm optimistic it will be fixed soon...

I don't think they got the bug out in time, the shaking is still in there... Driving slowly (under 10 kph) it wobbles from side to side and the FFB goes nuts with vibration... Also, when you stand still and turn the wheel a certain amount (to the left), it goes to full lock on its own - with a road setup...

Quote from BlueFlame :Never played it, it's such an un-inspired game. All people say is 'OO ITS HARD'. That doesn't make a game good when all you do is shoot teleportation holes where-ever you want and effectively virtual parkour all over a stupid map.

If you knew Portal, you'd realize how big of an idiot you made yourself right now (again)...

Quote from bunder9999 :that's what security companies are paid for. lulzsec's motives seem purely scandalous.

Makes no sense... If security would be tight then lulzsec couldn't break in... So in doing exactly that (easily, as they're saying) they prove that those companies got way too comfortable handling our sensitive data and obviously skimped on the necessary security...

Quote from Töki (HUN) :I officially hate DRS now.

Agreed... Webber zooming by Schumacher as if he was sitting in a F2 car is absolutely appaling to see as a fan of racing...

I found it interesting that Vettel had a cable hanging from a contact on the visor? Are they trying to use some sort of heads-up display?

Also, everybody is changing to inters immediately - why the F*** did we have to endure the long pause and hundred SC laps then?!?! Idiotic...

This extremely narrow wheelbase is a perfect recipe for terminal understeer... I can't see how you'd get that thing to turn at speed...

Finally, GT goes endurance and multiclass again... The racing in the SRO format was great, but when I think GT I'm thinking Spa 12 Hours, not the overly television-friendly 2 races 1 hour... The drivers were bored also it seems, with constant cockpit-swapping and half the field drove both GT1 and GT3... And since SRO failed to get even 20 cars on the grid this year, I think the logical step was to go back...

Glad that Perez apparently is ok - you always fear the worst when you see a driver unconcious after an impact and then everybody is blocking the view...

Tomorrow, I fully expect one or two teams to try the same RB did in Barcelona and bring in their car earlier... Then, all hell will brake loose... Will be funny to see who runs out of supersofts first...

Quote from E.Reiljans :So? Crysis is 4 years old yet it's still being used as a 'graphics showcase' alot.

Great, you save me a lot of typing if you invalidate your own argument, do please continue...

Point is no developer in his right mind wastes time on a fad from 2 years ago that only half (if even, with recent selling statistics) his customers could use anyway... In addition, recent graphics engines produce the same amount of bling regardless of card manufacturer...

PhysX was dead from the get-go, and was only slightly less dead when nVidia took over... Locking out the possibility of ATI graphics - nVidia physics combos just killed it once more...

Nope, sounds like a perfect example of countering a certain transient behaviour with dampers... Other factors can contribute to the issue, but if the steady state handling is ok the first thing you'd turn to have to be the dampers...
