Quote from ACCAkut :The problem with longtime engine breaking (like on a mountain pass) is iirc that diesel cars tend to overheat. Their was an explanation somewhere but I can't find it now.

You mean overheating by running too lean? The fuel vapor actually does cool the engine to a degree before igniting, but I doubt any modern engine with an intact cooling system would have a problem with that...

Quote from pearcy_2k7 :I'm not scared, it's funny you saying that though, obviously living in Austria you don't have **** all to worry about.

C'mon then Einstein, how do you get rid of terrorism without violence? Enlighten me...

So living in a country whose politic is not to interfere with interior matters of other countries decreases the risk of a terrorist attack... You don't have to be Einstein to see the pattern there...

Violence isn't effective against ideologies, that's also no rocket science... Education and wealth seem to "get rid" of fanatics pretty fast - at least that's what history tells us...

Quote from Jrod :Wait...so you're saying that they found a major bug in the way tracks were created from the laser data, and fixing that issue has caused a major change in the vehicle handling for the better?

Apart from merging the pointclouds together I can't see how you could mess that up... My theory is that like the issue with the wheelie-ing cars the tyres clipped into the ground at bigger bumps so the force the sim applies to put them right is exaggerated...

I drove the Radical at Sebring - haven't driven it for a bit longer so I can't say for sure if it's this particular update, but in 1.5 hours I had not a single instance of the suspension oscillating more and more until the car was out of control... It still bounced alright, but the car always returned to a stable position...

Quote from pearcy_2k7 :Ok so they sussed us in irag, whats the reason for them sitting on their arses this time? Or are we just supposed to sit back and let the nutters do what they like whilst they come up withn the master plan?

Yes. The goal of terrorism is to strike fear into the heart and mind of the enemy... The paranoia you display in this thread leads me to believe it already succeeded with you...

And no, no "war against terrorism" will do any good as violence will breed just more violence (see Israel for a perfect example, that's going on for over half a century and not a sign it will stop anytime soon)...

Quote from Ball Bearing Turbo :Next season for one car? I thought that I read:

"August 2011

New Tire Model for all cars."

I think he meant the part of Tony's mail to a member that maybe they would release the NTM for a road car some time during the season... I think that plan is scrapped already, he later posted only there was no NTM road car coming with this build, without mentioning any mid-season releases...

Quote from EQ Worry :I wonder if this also covers contacts between cars, so that there is less crazy results of small touches, especially in open wheelers. That would be awesome, but even if that's not the case, it is great to see a serious progress in LFS.

Quote from Skagen :Does this also mean improved contact detection with the speed bumps in i.e KY3 chicane?

It's my understanding from Scawen's post that the new system is indeed beneficial to those situations...

Quote from Scawen :I keep calling this a collision detection system but it's not just collisions, it is actually the whole contact detection system that the tyres also use to detect the ground.

Quote from Skagen :If I am not mistaken, it is engine breaking (preferably on rear-wheel cars).

No, it's exactly like he says...

Quote from Skagen :The break balance is set too far rear.
The car will try to get the wheels that applies most breaking force to the front. If that happens to be the rear wheels, the car will try to turn around when you break.

The car doesn't "try" anything, it does what it's set up to... If that means a rear wheel locks up for whatever reason (of which too much rear bias is only one reason), you will probably get more face time with your fellow racers than you wished...

Just a friendly hint: break = kaputt... You mean braking...

Quote from Dennis93 :But deffo it's gonna be harder for Lewis to get used the nascar since you actually have to drive the car.

As opposed to an F1 car driving itself? Also, Hamilton has some mad car control, and I'm not a fan by a long shot...

I don't know how anyone thinks one will have it easier... Stewart will have to deal with brutal lateral G-Forces the likes he never dealt with before, and Hamilton will have to deal with a lack of traction... Will both have fun though? Most likely...

V8 is the most fun I ever had on iRacing... You have to put in quite a few hours to learn to control it though... Once you "mastered" it, there is nothing wiping that grin off your face driving it...

Boothy, do you have the replay of the Saturday race saved? I'd like to have a second look, but forgot to save it with our post-race chat (damn your T1 braking btw, cooked my tyres so hard they didn't come back on until 5 to go)...

Quote from libben :LFS has as you pointed out all this, but it's not in one place. And if i want to know who is winning a leauge. I have to go to that site and so on, the word here is UNITE.

iRacing NEEDS to have it all in one place, so they can control and bill you for what you're doing... It's iRacings restrictive system that holds it back imo - there is so much variety in LfS' leagues iRacing cannot even dream of with their current system... The downside is a more decentralized system, yes, but every league is invited to advertize themselves in the news section...

Quote from libben :Me personally think they should create a "platform" like iracing.

What more of a platform do you want? There is nothing the iRacing site does that isn't on LfSWorld... Apart from maybe a video tutorial, LfS has an ingame training for that...

News? There. Wanna race? Join any server you like. Statistics? Plenty. World records? Just a click away. Telemetry? O wait, that's just on LfSWorld...
