Quote from The Very End :Well, it can be negative too. Think of all the "usefull" (yeah sure, like we do anything usefull rofl) things you could done in your life if you hadn`t wasted them all in front of a screen?

But screw that, I like my screen, and I like LFS.

Meh, I still go to college & work

I was using LFS on my laptop for a bit. I have an Intel Core 2 duo T7200 2.0ghz, 1 gig DDR2 RAM, and x1400 mobility. I spent about $1200 canadian on this laptop over a year ago. So roughly 600Nice 160gb hdd tho. Mines only 120. Cause I don't cheap out on computers (just got my desktop quad core up and running ) I'd upgrade to the t7250. Itll be much more powerful. Wait as long as you can to get the best deal possible. Also I agree with cobra, upgrade the battery too. Companies say this battery lasts sooo many hours. That's when you have the screen maximum dimm, only a text editor open, speakers off, and the idle process going.

I am currently driving on some tracks, learning the lines a bit better with the RACE_S setup. All i changed on it was the brake balance by a few %. I know the suspension is a bit more complex, but Ill take a good dive on the wiki.

Quote from zeugnimod :Stick to what you enjoy, of course.

And there's a whole section for CTRA under Leagues & Events where you can post such threads.

I'll keep that in mind next time, but thanks for your advice.

I see most people driving the XFG in CTRA 1. I know it's a little easier to drive, but I do like the XRG a little better. Would you guys recommend using the XFG so I can learn more easily? or stick to what I enjoy? Thanks

Quote from AndroidXP :This is a deliberate choice, because you cannot force H-gate shifter users (G25) to actually stay in gear where a real car wouldn't allow you to move the stick. With the pre patch Y shift method (you needed the clutch to disengage), a G25 user was able to preselect the next gear with his shifter and then in a split second have a perfect gear change by just stabbing the clutch pedal.

Yep i did that sometimes, but i love the real feel. Hence why I use it with cars such as the FZR

Quote from [RF]-art555 :As I said, XRR has sequental gearbox (its sequental, and it doesn't care what way of shifting in setting you use (player options: Sequental/Auto/H-pattern)) with ignition cut doing the "lift" of the throttle for you, therefore lifting your foot of accelerator is absolutly unneeded in XRR. In cars with sequental gearboxes without ignition cut (Only FBM, MRT AFAIK) the gear simply won't change under load (clutch isn't needed with such gearboxes unless taking off in 1st gear) so you have to lift the foot in them

Okay, that's what I thought, thanks for clarifying.

Yeah, I use the shifting type with the cars gearbox. In my, car i have a sequential control that comes along with the automatic. Same thing as most autos have with the 1, 2, 3, D. However this is just easier to use. Timing lift offs with the throttle and up shifting and allows the car to shift quicker. So I was wondering if flatshifting with sequential in LFS will cause the temp to rise quicker or not.

On my lunch I went home to try some stuff, and currently I'm not sure on what's correct to do or good practice. I drove the XRR using paddles on my G25. When shifting up I held the gas all down. I noticed little to no increase on the clutch temp. With downshifs i just braked and hit the downshift paddle accordingly. As a test, I did flat shifts in the FZR with the h gate, and I noticed the clutch temp going up.

So my question is, with sequential, should one lift off the gas pedal completely for an upshift, and blip the throttle a bit on downshifts? Thanks guys/girls.

Quote from Polyracer :Agreed

If there is to be only one track - then get your money's worth, - it simply has to be the Nords.

Ok its big, but it has justabout every straight and corner configuration, and is an immence challenge.

I like Cadwell too - but the Nords is a lot more of the same sort of challenge.

Agreed. Would be really fun in the bmw, as well as the GTR cars

I'm guessin you are using sequential paddles or something? You can always heal toe by pressing the brake with your right foot toes, and slide the heal over to blip the throttle. It's what I do in the game, cept I use my left to clutch.

Also, dell has its own BIOS/CMOS probably won't be able to do it.

Quote from Eleanor SpeedGT :Well, i do all the three. It's called: 3-Way playing.
Racing,Drifting,Crusing. 3 in one. abracadabra. boom.

That mixes things up a bit and such. I like the drifting cause it's a lot of fun with car control and so forth. I've been just using the default setup, and using a combo of intertia & power over. Great Times

I need to setup the stuff in the ATI settings tonight. I believe I downloaded the higher res textures on my laptop (know i did for my desktop) from LFS database, but I didn't notice an improvement. Dunno if they were replaced/deleted when patch Y came out either.

I know one time when I was on CTRA 1, we were coming up to the first corner, which was a left turn. I looked to make sure I was clear. Before turning a a guy cliped my left back. He drove on and joined the line. I turned 90 degrees to the right, I hit the side of another guy who was behind me, he collided into one beside him. This guy in the middle now flew up in the air

Quote from Bandit77 :I wouldn't say you have to "develop" a set for everytrack... it's more like developing a good base and then tweak it a bit here and there to suit the track.

For example I mainly use two setups for the XFG. They're more or less the same except for the gearing: taller for BL, shorter for SO and FE... same goes for the XRG.

BTW: in the setups-section of this forum there's a bunch of "easy" setups made by Bob Smith. If you haven't got a clue about (on / of?? what's the correct word?) setting up a car, learning a track using these sets is probably not a waste of time. They at least feel good (real).

Hmm. I am new to the setup concept. I have followed the wiki on advanced setup guide and such. A little confusing on some ends how it lists Hrz for suspension, while in the game its in Nm.

Quote from Plastik8 :Make sure you have the option enabled "AI use same setup" (or something similar). Also try disabled as well, might be an improvement..

But AI "learn" the track. They do this through practise. Set a 100 lap race with 10 AI, and then just pit, and let them race... Grab a coffee, go see a movie, go to sleep. When you come back they should be considerably faster.

I so wanna try this, see how it turns out. LOL

I drive an automatic that has a sequential shifter on it(my avatar), which I use all the time. However I have tried LFB a litte, and im not used to senitive control with my left foot, even though ive done it a bit in LFS. I thought about using left foot braking with the sequential while downshifting so i can blip the throttle. But really I do not see a point. I usually just apply breaking and downshift appropriatly to keep it smooth.

Is it a good idea to develope a setup for each track for a car?

Yeah I know. I was saying that a person who uses the mouse and keyboard can still use sequential for 6spd cars, and does not need to have an H gate shifter for it. I have a G25 and I use the H gate for cars like the UF1 and XRT. I use paddles for the XRR and so forth.
